The three of them fled the room, sprinting out of the manor at top speed.
The two young masters were gasping for breath, their hands raised in surrender.
Shen Le wheezed, completely out of breath: "I’ve never exercised this much in my life—give me a break."
Lin Yanjun grabbed Su Yu, who was still trying to bolt forward: "Take a damn break. Why are you running like something’s chasing you?"
Su Yu finally stopped when yanked back, his heart still pounding wildly in his chest.
"You don’t get it."
If he hadn’t run fast enough, that thing would’ve been chasing his ass.
After catching their breath on the roadside, Shen Le finally asked: "What the hell happened? Wasn’t the plan to storm in when you gave the signal by smashing the cup?"
Just hearing this made Su Yu furious: "You two have the nerve to ask?! I told you to send the guy in first after I texted—did you?!"
Lin Yanjun shrugged: "You never sent the text."
"You didn’t even get the guy in, and you were already recording?!"
The two of them froze, realizing they might’ve messed up the order of operations.
Shen Le let out a long "Ohhh," eyeing Su Yu’s disheveled clothes: "So… what were you doing with Ji Yanli in there?"
Lin Yanjun suddenly remembered: "Right! And it kinda worked, didn’t it? I saw his pants were about to burst."
Their chatter was giving Su Yu a headache. He gritted his teeth: "Yeah, it worked—almost worked so well I ended up in his bed."
Shen Le gasped: "Wait, so you don’t like Song Yanchu anymore?"
Lin Yanjun’s eyes widened, scanning Su Yu up and down: "Damn, how long have you been secretly into Ji Yanli?"
Arguing with these two idiots was pointless. Su Yu felt a surge of frustration.
"Both of you, get lost."
Finally sensing his anger, Shen Le slung an arm over his shoulder: "C’mon, don’t be mad. Let’s grab a drink."
They were the definition of bad influences—Su Yu’s usual outings with them involved clubbing, drinking, or offshore fishing.
Lin Yanjun nodded: "Yeah, Moonlight just got some new faces. Heard one looks just like Song Yanchu. Wanna check it out?"
Su Yu took a deep breath and shoved Shen Le’s arm off: "Looking alike doesn’t make them Yanchu. I’m a loyal man—I don’t do substitutes."
The two exchanged glances.
Lin Yanjun smirked: "Then let’s go fishing. Invite Song Yanchu along?"
Now that was a decent idea.
Just as Su Yu was about to agree, his phone rang violently.
He glanced at the screen: Old Demon.
His father.
Su Yu’s eye twitched. He waved at the other two to shut up and answered.
"Hey, Dad."
His voice was obedient, the picture of a dutiful son.
"Heard you caused trouble at the banquet tonight?"
That bastard Ji Yanli snitched fast.
Su Yu gritted his teeth internally but forced a laugh: "No? I was just… bonding with Ji Yanli."
"GET YOUR ASS HOME NOW!"
The roar from the phone made all three flinch before the call disconnected.
Shen Le patted his back: "Uh… good luck, man."
Lin Yanjun nodded solemnly: "If you survive, we’ll go fishing."
Su Zhaofeng wasn’t someone to mess with—his temper was legendary. Neither friend dared to follow Su Yu home.
Useless idiots. Su Yu sighed and headed back, resigned to his fate.
Back at the Su family estate,
Su Yu lingered at the door for a long time before mustering the courage to enter.
The atmosphere inside was frigid, like the AC had been cranked to arctic levels.
On the sofa sat a man in black loungewear,
flipping through a newspaper—his official older brother, Su Yan.
Su Yan glanced up, lips curling into a smile: "Welcome back, little brother."
Unlike Su Yu, the illegitimate son, Su Yan was the golden child, the undisputed heir to the Su family.
"Brother."
Su Yu had no real beef with him and usually acted respectful.
[WTF HE DARES TO SMILE?!]
[He’s the one who snitched! Look at him, all cozy and waiting to watch the show!]
[He’s had a crush on 'Gloomy Guy' (Ji Yanli) for ages—he’s just waiting to get rid of his brother!]
[Don’t call him 'brother,' baby! He’s evil!]
Su Yan snitched? And he… likes Ji Yanli?
The barrage of information left Su Yu stunned in the doorway.
Su Yan raised a brow: "Dad’s waiting upstairs."
Before Su Yu could process it, a roar came from above:
"SU YU, GET UP HERE NOW!"
He flinched and hurried up.
Su Zhaofeng was already in the study, face thunderous.
The last time Su Yu had seen that expression was after he’d brawled with some young master at a party.
As the illegitimate son, his role was to exist quietly—the family business wasn’t his concern, and his dad usually ignored him.
"Close the door. Kneel."
Su Yu obeyed, head bowed.
Su Zhaofeng sneered: "You can’t even be a useless waste properly. What can you do?"
Being called useless was nothing new. Su Yu had long accepted it.
"Sorry, Dad."
He apologized instantly, but his mind raced—how much does he know?
"I sent you to that banquet to learn, and instead, you drugged Ji Yanli? Impressive."
[LIES! This was all Su Yan’s scheme!]
[Originally, Su Yan was supposed to go, but he played the saint and 'let' you go instead!]
[He even sent people to egg you on, telling you the wrong room number—it was supposed to be some fat creep’s room!]
[Disgusting! Thank god Ji Yanli switched rooms last minute!]
The barrage of revelations hit Su Yu like a truck.
Su Yan set me up?
He scrambled to recall—who was it that had talked him into drugging Ji Yanli?
It wasn’t even his idea. He’d only considered it after…
That night out drinking with the guys.
