That day, Song Yanchu had been chatting with him about Ji Yanli’s upcoming birthday.
Song Yanchu smiled shyly: "What do you think I should get for Brother Ji?"
Su Yu sneered internally: How about a slap across the face?
After parting ways with Song Yanchu, frustration gnawed at him.
Coincidentally, Shen Le invited him out for drinks, so he went.
Shen Le had gathered a crowd—aside from Lin Yanjun, there were a bunch of young masters Su Yu barely knew.
After a few rounds, the topic somehow shifted to Song Yanchu.
Drunk and irritated, Su Yu ended up blurting out his grievances.
A guy with purple hair—his face now a blur in Su Yu’s memory—laughed loudly and slung an arm around his shoulders: "Little Young Master Su, want some advice?"
Between the alcohol and the peer pressure, Su Yu’s judgment had been clouded.
Even Shen Le and Lin Yanjun, those two idiots, had egged him on, calling the idea brilliant.
And now he knew—Su Yan had orchestrated the whole thing.
"Cat got your tongue? You dare mess with the Ji family? Do you even know we’re in talks with them for a collaboration? If this falls through, you’re not worth a fraction of the losses!"
Su Yu’s lips parted: "Dad… was it Su Yan who suggested sending me to the banquet?"
Su Zhaofeng frowned: "What does your brother have to do with this? He was kind enough to let you attend and broaden your horizons."
So it was Su Yan’s idea.
The barrage of comments had seemed dubious at first, but now Su Yu believed them 80%.
"Kind? More like scheming."
His voice was icy.
He’d never once fought for anything in this family, yet the brother he’d respected all these years hated him enough to set him up.
Su Zhaofeng slammed the table:
"You’re talking back now? Without your brother speaking up for you, you wouldn’t even be standing here!"
[Baby’s finally realizing the truth! T_T]
[This shitty dad’s disgusting—can’t keep it in his pants, yet favors the legitimate heir.]
[Might as well run a delivery service with how he sorts his ‘packages’ (kids).]
[You gotta seize power, baby, or you’ll get kicked out of the Su family!]
The comments fueled Su Yu’s defiance. "So what? You’ve never treated me like a real son anyway."
"You—! You—!"
Su Zhaofeng’s face turned purple with rage, his finger trembling as he pointed at his son.
Finally, he spat out: "Your cards are frozen effective today!"
Typical feudal parenting tactic—control through financial suffocation.
Su Yu laughed, his wings fully spread: "Perfect. I’ve been sick of using the Su family’s dirty money anyway."
With that, he stormed out, slamming the door hard enough to rattle the walls.
The place he’d once called home had long ceased to be a sanctuary.
Downstairs, Su Yan was still seated, his face the picture of concern:
"Little brother, how did it go? Did Dad scold you too badly?"
In the past, Su Yu might’ve mistaken that smile for kindness.
Now, all he saw was malice.
"Nothing major. Just froze my cards."
Su Yan feigned shock: "Oh no! You’ve always lived lavishly—this must be hard. Here, take my card."
He pulled out a card, as if he’d prepared it in advance.
[DON’T TAKE IT! (SCREAMS)]
[Mocking our baby for ‘living lavishly’—so what if his hubby’s rich? Let him spend!]
[This bastard’s gonna tattle to Dad later, turning him against Su Yu completely!]
[His face is thicker than a dictionary—half shameless, half hypocritical.]
"No need. I’ll manage."
Su Yu turned and walked out, leaving Su Yan’s outstretched hand hanging, his eyes boring into Su Yu’s back.
The night air was chilly as Su Yu stepped outside.
His wallet held about 1,000 yuan in cash—nowhere near enough to last.
Should he find a part-time job?
But what could he even do?
For the first time, he truly felt like the useless waste his father called him.
The Su family had spoiled him rotten, and he’d been too blind to see it.
Without those comments, would his fate really have been…
Being discarded like trash?
Before he could dwell, his phone buzzed—Shen Le.
Somehow, the idiot’s timing was impeccable: "Su-ge, just got chewed out?"
Su Yu gritted his teeth: "Yeah. Just got kicked out, actually."
Shen Le gasped: "That bad?! I thought he’d just yell a bit!"
Lin Yanjun’s voice cut in, concerned: "Su-ge, where are you gonna go?"
Shen Le scoffed: "Dumbass, he’s loaded. Why worry?"
A beat of silence. Then: "Not anymore. Cards are frozen."
"WHAT?!"
The screech nearly deafened Su Yu before Lin Yanjun wrestled the phone away: "Su-ge, come to Shen Le’s place. We’ll figure something out."
Shen Le chimed in: "Yeah, get over here!"
Kicked out by his family, yet the first to extend a hand were the so-called ‘bad influences’ his father despised.
For a split second, Su Yu almost laughed.
"Alright. Wait for me."
He used the last of his WeChat balance to hail a cab to Shen Le’s private villa—a party pad bought behind his family’s back.
The two idiots were waiting in the living room, immediately fussing over him: "You okay? Did your dad hit you?"
Su Zhaofeng had resorted to physical blows before.
Su Yu shook his head: "No. I bolted before he could react."
Shen Le exhaled: "Good. Can’t ruin this face—it’s your last asset now."
Lin Yanjun smacked him: "Shut the hell up if you can’t say anything useful."
"What? It’s true!"
Ignoring him, Lin Yanjun turned to Su Yu: "With your cards frozen… unless you go back and beg your dad, the Su family won’t let this slide easily."
"I’m not begging." Su Yu cut him off.
Suddenly, Shen Le slapped his thigh:
"Su-ge! I just remembered—my cousin’s looking for an assistant! Need cash? Wanna try it?"
Su Yu fell silent.
He knew Shen Le meant well—both friends were under their families’ thumbs too,
unable to bankroll him indefinitely.
Besides, he had to stand on his own.
Otherwise, how would he survive without the Su family?
Lin Yanjun, sensing his hesitation, was about to object—how could a young master like him play assistant?—when Su Yu spoke first:
"Alright. Set it up for me tomorrow."
