“Mr. Nian, Mr. Qin asked me to bring my family’s second young master here. I’ll leave him in your care.”
A middle-aged man in a loose suit stood respectfully outside the Nian family villa, speaking to Nian Yixin.
“Of course, Mr. Qin has already informed me.”
Nian Yixin replied with a polite smile, though his expression carried a natural air of measured distance.
He was the head of the Nian family and, notably, an Omega.
Nian Yixin’s gaze landed on the young man beside the driver.
The youth stood straight, his frame lean like a proud green bamboo.
His features were sharp and handsome, his eyes deep and dark, as though concealing icy cracks beneath a cold river, exuding an air of coldness and eeriness.
At the corner of his right eye, there was a small mole, adding a faint trace of aloofness to his expression.
His indifferent demeanor and taciturn nature made him less than charming as a guest.
“So this is Chengyu? You’ll be living with us from now on. Feel free to make yourself at home.”
Though Nian Yixin’s words were cordial, his glance at Qin Chengyu was brief, and he quickly turned away.
After all, even though Qin Chengyu was a young master of the Qin family, the fact that they sent him over with only a driver showed how dismissive they were.
It was no surprise that Qin Chengyu carried the label of "discarded son."
To Nian Yixin, this was merely a favor to Qin Zhuo, allowing Qin Chengyu to stay at the Nian house.
Beyond that, he couldn’t be bothered.
“Hello, Mr. Nian,”
Qin Chengyu greeted in a low, emotionless voice.
Just then, a sharp scream echoed from within the villa, seemingly coming from a side room on the third floor.
Nian Yixin glanced in the direction of the sound and sighed apologetically.
“Please excuse us, that’s Jinsui. He’s been in a bad mood lately and is venting.”
“Young Master Nian is certainly full of personality. Mr. Nian, I won’t intrude further,”
the Qin family driver flattered, clearly eager to leave before overhearing anything he shouldn’t.
“Alright, please convey to Mr. Qin that I’ll take good care of Chengyu and he can rest assured.”
“Of course, Mr. Nian.”
As the Qin family’s driver left, Nian Yixin turned back to Qin Chengyu with a smile.
“Chengyu, given the relationship between our families, you don’t need to be so formal. Just call me Uncle Nian.”
Nian Yixin glanced at the suitcase beside Qin Chengyu.
“Is that all you’ve brought? No problem, anything you need can be purchased later.”
“Thank you, Uncle Nian,”
in Chengyu replied.
At that moment, another shout rang out from inside the house:
“No---!”
Nian Yixin felt a bit embarrassed, but his love for his only son outweighed his irritation.
With a doting yet exasperated sigh, he explained,
“Jinsui has been upset about some things and locked himself in his room for two days. You’ll meet him sooner or later. Chengyu, Jinsui has been spoiled by me and his father and can be a bit willful. I hope you’ll forgive him.”
“Understood, Uncle Nian,”
Qin Chengyu responded simply, his eyes betraying a trace of understanding.
Though he had never met Nian Jinsui, the infamous young master of the Nian family was no stranger to him.
The notorious “pretty but useless” young master, spoiled and arrogant, had been madly in love with the Chu family’s young master,
Chu Heting, since childhood, pursuing him relentlessly yet always being rebuffed.
The “trouble” Nian Jinsui was dealing with, as mentioned by Nian Yixin, referred to the debacle two days ago during Nian Jinsui’s birthday party.
In front of the capital’s elite, he had made a grand confession to Chu Heting, only for Chu Heting to ignore him and rush off with a feverish waiter* in his arms.
The incident had spread like wildfire in the capital, making Nian Jinsui the laughingstock of every dinner table.
“Let’s head inside and talk. Your room is on the first floor. Settle in, and the servants will call you when dinner is ready,”
Nian Yixin said as they entered the villa.
“By the way, I’ll be heading to Country M in a few days. You’ll be staying here with Jinsui, going to and from school together. You can keep each other company…”
Before he could finish, a loud splash echoed from the courtyard pool.
Nian Yixin froze, panic setting in as he rushed outside, his composure gone.
In the middle of the pool, a familiar figure was floundering.
“Jinsui! It’s Jinsui! Someone help! Call an ambulance!”
Nian Yixin cried, his legs weak with fear as he stumbled to the poolside.
Just as he was about to jump in, a lithe figure dove into the water like a fish.
Qin Chengyu swiftly swam to Nian Jinsui, slipped an arm under his armpits, and brought his face above the surface, heading toward the edge of the pool.
As the unconscious Nian Jinsui was handed over to his panicked father,
Nian Yixin shouted at the approaching servants,
“Quick! Call 120!”
Qin Chengyu, calm and composed, climbed out of the pool and said,
“Uncle Nian, lay him down. I’ll perform first aid.”
“Alright, alright…”
Nian Yixin hurriedly handed his son over.
Qin Chengyu knelt on one knee and methodically turned Nian Jinsui face down over his leg, pressing on his back to expel the water.
Once the water was out, he laid Nian Jinsui flat and began chest compressions.
“Jinsui! It’s just a man! I’ll find you someone better than Chu Heting! How could you do this to me? Don’t leave your father behind! Wake up, my Jinsui!”
Nian Yixin wailed.
If Nian Jinsui were conscious, he’d likely faint again out of anger. Who said this was about a man?!
At the moment, however, Nian Jinsui was lost in a blissful dream, unaware of how his reputation was being ruined by his doting father.
Annoyed by Nian Yixin’s cries, Qin Chengyu grew more irritable as he realized Nian Jinsui wasn’t waking up despite his efforts.
His gaze fell on Nian Jinsui’s lips, a flicker of determination in his eyes.
Despite his aversion to close contact, there was no time to hesitate.
Pinching Nian Jinsui’s nose, Qin Chengyu leaned down and pressed his lips to his.
feverish waiter* = Chu Heting's reaction to prioritize the feverish waiter over Nianjin Sui's public confession intensifies the emotional stakes.- Chu Heting may care deeply for the waiter.
- The waiter's health is being used as a plot device to create conflict and highlight Nianjin Sui's humiliation and rejection.
