SDS: Chapter 30
New Year’s Eve With Qin Zhiyan
Before Tang Keyi could even open his mouth, Qin Yilin beat him to it.
"Zhiyan, I just tried to book the Capital Tower suite for New Year’s Eve, but they said you reserved it. What’s the deal? Got plans?"
Qin Zhiyan’s fingers unconsciously brushed the small silver pendant on his left wrist.
"No plans. Holding it for… someone who might."
"If it’s free, give it to me. Heard Han Qiuqiu failed to book one while Li Mingxing got his—Qiuqiu’s fuming. Handing him the suite now would make his day."
Just as Han Qiuqiu predicted, Qin Yilin had his own agenda.
"I know. But the suite isn’t yours to give."
"You know? How?"
Qin Yilin connected the dots instantly.
"Han Qiuqiu sent Tang Keyi to ask you instead of me?"
"He hasn’t asked yet,"
Qin Zhiyan corrected meticulously,
"but that’s the intention."
"Same difference."
Qin Yilin grinned shamelessly.
"It’s the Qin family suite—I’ll crash the party either way. He can’t kick me out. You coming?"
"Too noisy. Pass."
The Tang Birthday Banquet
The star of the evening, Madam Tang,
held court in the banquet hall with radiant energy that belied her eighty years.
Flawless makeup and impeccable poise made her appear a vibrant sixty.
As she glided between guests,
a graceful flick of her hand tucking back a stray lock drew attention to her earrings.
"Madam, those earrings are exquisite!"
"Are these the ones Young Master Tang gifted? The ones from your social media post?"
"No wonder they looked familiar! Such filial piety!"
"And so accomplished too—Madam Tang is truly blessed."
The ladies’ compliments flowed like honey.
Everyone knew Tang Keyi was Madam Tang’s treasure—
if exaggerating praise pleased her tonight, so be it.
Filial? Undoubtedly.
"Accomplished"? Well, the capital’s top playboy finally holding a job could count as progress.
Madam Tang beamed.
"Our Keyi has impeccable taste, handsome looks—really, perfection itself!"
Meanwhile, the subject of admiration sipped champagne, besieged by admirers.
His easy charm made him a social magnet.
From the entrance,
Qin Zhiyan’s gaze zeroed in on a slender man leaning against Tang Keyi,
laughing intimately with a hand on his shoulder.
Something dark coiled in Qin Zhiyan’s chest.
That arm doesn’t belong there.
He scrutinized Tang Keyi—just under 180cm, but with legs that stretched for days.
His beauty held no femininity, only aristocratic allure.
A peacock among sparrows, yet somehow transcending even that with an effortless grace.
Annoyance prickled under Qin Zhiyan’s skin until Tang Keyi’s thoughts drifted to him:
[Why won’t they leave?]
[I’m starving…]
[Can’t just walk away—host duties and all.]
The mental whining inexplicably soothed him.
Then it hit him:
Since when does Tang Keyi dictate my moods?
As Qin Zhiyan approached, his aura scattered the crowd like startled birds.
Tang Keyi looked at him like salvation.
"President Qin! You’re here!"
Those sparkling eyes reminded Qin Zhiyan of a kitten spotting its owner.
A low chuckle escaped him.
[He’s laughing?]
[Never seen him laugh like this before.]
[Kinda… nice.]
[Wish he weren’t so scary all the time.]
Qin Zhiyan’s smile vanished.
This little shit’s getting bold.
"Hungry? Eat." He deadpanned.
"Starving."
Tang Keyi hesitated.
"Actually… want to grab food together?"
Finally.
Qin Zhiyan nodded.
At the buffet, Tang Keyi feigned casualness.
"Got New Year’s Eve plans, President Qin?"
Qin Zhiyan almost said no—
until images of Tang Keyi partying with strangers surfaced.
Better to supervise.
"Capital Tower suite. Want to join? Bring Han Qiuqiu and whoever."
"Huh?"
Tang Keyi short-circuited.
Qin Zhiyan had stolen his script!
"So… you in?"
"Uh… sure?"
Only after finishing his plate did reality sink in.
Wait—I’m spending New Year’s Eve with Qin Zhiyan?!
Madam Tang beckoned her grandson.
"Keyi, sit with me later! Point out anything you like at the auction—Grandma will buy it for you!"
"I’ll sit with Qiuqiu, Grandma. Front row’s too formal."
Also,
you’d probably stick me next to Qin Zhiyan.
