SDS: Chapter 31
The CEO’s Hidden Agenda
"Alright then."
Madam Tang added one last reminder,
"If you see anything you like, bid on it—don't even think about the price."
......
"Keyi, nothing caught your eye?"
Han Qiuqiu tugged at Tang Keyi's sleeve and whispered.
"Antiques, calligraphy, jewelry—you think I'd be interested in that stuff?"
Tang Keyi replied, unenthused.
"But everyone’s really giving your grandma face—the donated items are all top-tier."
"It’s for charity, after all. Shows how kind-hearted people are."
Tang Keyi brushed it off.
"Pfft."
Han Qiuqiu scoffed at Tang Keyi’s feigned ignorance.
Charity was one thing, but everyone here was clearly angling for Madam Tang’s favor.
"That celadon vase your family donated is quite nice—and expensive too. Such generosity."
Tang Keyi teased.
"Shut up."
"Look, Qin Yilin just snapped it up without hesitation. Since when did he develop a taste for antiques?"
Tang Keyi smirked.
"Who knows? Even if he shaves his head and becomes a monk tomorrow, I wouldn’t care."
Han Qiuqiu retorted.
"What did you donate?"
"Mine’s coming up soon. You should bid on it—I put a lot of effort into collecting them. Only donated them for Grandma’s sake, otherwise I’d never let them go."
Tang Keyi winced at the thought.
"What is it?"
Han Qiuqiu asked curiously.
Before Tang Keyi could answer, the auctioneer announced:
"Next up, a complete set of twelve LLS Constellation Series men’s watches, each numbered ‘1,’ generously donated by Young Master Tang Keyi."
Older guests might not know, but the younger crowd recognized these instantly—
LLS’s limited-edition collection from five years ago, sold individually rather than as a set.
Assembling all twelve, each with the coveted "No. 1" serial, was no small feat.
Even if Tang Keyi had donated junk, the crowd would’ve fought over it—
let alone these watches.
The bids quickly soared to three million.
"Tsk tsk, Young Master Tang’s charm hasn’t faded. Guess the final price?"
Han Qiuqiu nudged him.
"Who knows?"
Tang Keyi feigned nonchalance, but his eyes sparkled with smug delight.
[Three million? With my name attached, even a sky-high price wouldn’t be surprising.]
Such vanity.
Sky-high?
What counts as sky-high?
Qin Zhiyan’s gaze dropped to the bracelet on his wrist.
Though the watch set wasn’t his style, so what?
He couldn’t tolerate them adorning someone else’s wrist.
"6.8 million going once! 6.8 million going twice! 6.8 mil—"
Just before the gavel fell, a deep, commanding voice cut in:
"200 million."
For this set, 200 million was undeniably sky-high.
For the Qin Group—ranked first in the empire—
annual charity donations far exceeded this sum.
If it pleased Tang Keyi while aiding a good cause, why not?
The auctioneer perked up instantly.
"President Qin bids 200 million! The highest offer tonight! Any advance on 200 million?"
The room erupted in murmurs.
200 million for watches?
Qin Zhiyan’s spending like it’s nothing!
Speculations about Qin Zhiyan and Tang Keyi’s relationship swirled.
"Why would Qin Zhiyan bid so high for your watches?"
Han Qiuqiu narrowed his eyes.
"Spill—what shady dealings are you hiding?"
"Nothing! Can’t a man just feel charitable? Maybe he genuinely wanted to donate!"
Tang Keyi’s words were righteous, but inwardly, he was just as baffled.
[Did Qin Zhiyan take the wrong pills today? Does he actually like my watches?]
No wrong pills.
No love for the watches.
Then why?
Qin Zhiyan couldn’t quite articulate it himself.
The finale was Qin Zhiyan’s donation—
MB’s latest limited-edition custom supercar,
plus
its customization rights.
"The winning bidder will co-design this vehicle with MB’s team."
The room went wild.
MB’s customization service was exclusive to elite clients—
this opportunity was priceless.
The younger crowd, especially, geared up for battle—
even Qin Yilin, seated behind Qin Zhiyan, couldn’t resist grumbling:
"If you didn’t want the customization rights, you could’ve given them to me! Why auction them?"
Tang Keyi was no exception.
[AHHHHH—!!!]
Qin Zhiyan rubbed his temples, regretting his donation slightly.
He’d known Tang Keyi would love it—just not this much.
Well, no matter.
The noise was worth it if it made him happy.
As bidding reached its peak, Tang Keyi fought fiercely against other contenders—
until Madam Tang raised her paddle, ending the war.
Just as Qin Zhiyan had predicted:
Tang Keyi’s obvious desire + Madam Tang’s clout = guaranteed victory.
"Keyi, congrats! Take me for a spin once it’s ready,"
Han Qiuqiu elbowed him.
"Obviously."
