Chapter 145 Extra 1: The Villain Breaks Into Reality

 "Ahhhh!"

Qin Chengyu closed his eyes and leaped from the top floor of the Qin Group building.

After achieving his revenge, he had nothing left to live for and chose to end his life.

But the next moment, he seemed to land on something soft.

There was no pain—just a sharp, ear-piercing scream that nearly shattered his eardrums.

Annoyed, he opened his eyes and found himself staring into a pair of wide, pitch-black eyes filled with shock.

Clearly,

the scream had come from this person.

And he was currently pinning this person to a bed.

He wasn’t dead?

Qin Chengyu was puzzled but remained expressionless as he pushed himself up and got off the bed.

Where was this?

This couldn’t be heaven, could it?

He glanced around—it was just an ordinary bedroom.

He had jumped from such a height; he should be dead.

So why was he here?

"Uh... excuse me, who are you?"

Nian Jinsui slowly regained his composure from the shock, quickly getting off the bed and eyeing the man warily.

He had been engrossed in reading a novel when suddenly a man materialized out of thin air and landed on top of him.

The fact that he hadn’t died of fright was already a miracle.

"I’m Qin Chengyu."

Qin Chengyu lifted his eyelids slightly, his tone indifferent as he studied Nian Jinsui.

"Qin Chengyu? The villain who jumped to his death?"

Nian Jinsui froze, unable to believe it.

"Villain?"

Qin Chengyu raised an eyebrow at the label.

"How do you know I jumped?"

"Because... I just read up to this part..."

Nian Jinsui raised his phone and handed it over.

Skeptical, Qin Chengyu took the phone.

When he saw the dense text on the screen, even someone as unflappable as him couldn’t help feeling a surge of shock.

He was just a fictional character? And a villain at that?

"Then who are you?"

"My name is Nian Jinsui... Don’t misunderstand, I just share the same name as the character in the novel. We have nothing else in common."

Nian Jinsui rubbed his hands awkwardly.

In the novel, Qin Chengyu was a ruthless villain.

If he caught his attention, Nian Jinsui would be in deep trouble.

Qin Chengyu examined the man before him—around his age, somewhat nervous, but clearly harmless.

"It seems you’ve crossed over from the book into reality. Uh... President Qin?"

Nian Jinsui wasn’t sure how to address him.

"There’s no Qin Group in this world. Don’t call me that. Just use my name."

Qin Chengyu frowned slightly at the title.

"Then... Chengyu? Do you have any plans now?"

Plans?

Qin Chengyu fell silent. His original plan had been to die.

Nian Jinsui suddenly remembered Qin Chengyu’s fate in the novel and panicked, afraid he might still be suicidal.

"Don’t think about dying again! The fact that you crossed over means fate’s given you a second chance. You have to cherish it!"

When Qin Chengyu remained quiet, Nian Jinsui tentatively suggested,

"It’s late. Why don’t you sleep on it and figure things out tomorrow? There’s a bed in my study—you can stay there tonight."

"Are you living alone?"

"My parents passed away a few years ago. It’s just me now."

Nian Jinsui glanced at Qin Chengyu’s disheveled suit.

"I’ll get you some pajamas. You can take a shower first."

Qin Chengyu finally accepted.

"Thank you, Mr. Nian."

"Calling me that feels weird. Just use my name."

Nian Jinsui fetched fresh clothes and a towel from the closet.

"These underwear are new."

"Thank you... Jinsui."

The name felt strange on his tongue.

"No problem."

Nian Jinsui then led Qin Chengyu to the study with toiletries.

"I’ll leave you to it. Call me if you need anything."

"Alright."

Qin Chengyu eyed the computer in the study.

"May I use this?"

"Of course, go ahead."

Nian Jinsui forced himself to stay calm as he returned to his room and closed the door, taking several deep breaths.

The psychotic villain from the novel had crossed into the real world and landed in his house?!

This was too surreal.

He lay in bed but didn’t dare sleep, straining his ears for any sounds outside.

Only after hearing Qin Chengyu return to the study from the shower did he finally relax and drift off.

Meanwhile,

Qin Chengyu stayed up all night, using the computer to search for the novel and read it from start to finish.

How laughable.

As a supporting character, he barely had any scenes.

Yet the author had summed up his entire twenty-four years of life in just a few strokes.

Yes, his life had been that meaningless.

Why couldn’t he have just died in the book?

Why bring him to this world?

He looked up—dawn was breaking outside.

It was almost 7 a.m.

Just hours ago, he had jumped into the abyss of night from a skyscraper.

Now, he was watching the sunrise in another world.

Qin Chengyu lowered his gaze.

At least this world was brand new, completely disconnected from his past.

Maybe he really could start over here...

He continued researching the world online until a knock interrupted him.

"Mr. Qin, are you awake?"

Qin Chengyu opened the door to Nian Jinsui’s beaming face.

"Good morning! I made dumplings. They’re ready once you’ve washed up."

"Okay. Thanks."

Qin Chengyu headed to the bathroom.

Nian Jinsui glanced at the study bed—still neatly made, untouched.

He hadn’t slept at all.

Of course. After just attempting suicide, his mind must be heavy.

When you think about it, Qin Chengyu really is pitiful...

Watching Qin Chengyu’s thin back, Nian Jinsui couldn’t help but feel sympathy.

Poor little Beta.

Him ending up in my house must be fate. Since that’s the case,

I’ll take care of him—show him warmth exists in this world.

Maybe then he won’t repeat his mistakes...

At the table, apart from the occasional clink of chopsticks, neither spoke.

Nian Jinsui thought, Even when I eat alone, it’s not this quiet. This is awkward—it’ll ruin my appetite.

"These frozen dumplings aren’t bad, right? This flavor’s my favorite. How do you like them?"

he forced out.

"They’re fine."

"Uh... I’m a violinist with the orchestra. I’m off today, so I’ll take you out later. You’ll need photos for an ID card."

"Okay. Thanks."

"You can stay here as long as you need—make yourself at home. I’ll lend you my old phone so you can reach me anytime."

"Alright. Thank you."

Nian Jinsui: ...This conversation is going nowhere.

Qin Chengyu settled into Nian Jinsui’s home, rarely going out.

While Nian Jinsui worked, he did chores or used the computer.

On Nian Jinsui’s days off, they’d play video games or chat—

though Nian Jinsui did most of the talking, with Qin Chengyu offering only brief responses.

One day,

before Nian Jinsui returned, Qin Chengyu got a text asking him to pick up a package downstairs.

Unsuspecting, he went.

But when he reopened the door, the sweet melody of a violin greeted him.

The lights were off.

A cake sat on the table, its candles flickering—suddenly igniting the dead stillness in Qin Chengyu’s heart.

In the dim light, Nian Jinsui played as he walked toward him, the final note lingering as he stopped.

"Chengyu, happy birthday!"

Nian Jinsui pulled him to the cake.

"Make a wish and blow out the candles!"

But Qin Chengyu didn’t know what to wish for.

He simply blew them out.

As Nian Jinsui turned the lights back on, Qin Chengyu realized—this was his first birthday celebration.

No one had remembered his birthday in the past.

By the time he had power, he no longer cared.

He’d nearly forgotten it himself.

"How did you know today was my birthday?"

"I saw it last month when we got your ID. It’s also your one-month anniversary in this world! Worth celebrating."

"Thank you, Jinsui... I actually have a gift for you too."

Qin Chengyu handed over his phone.

Nian Jinsui stared in disbelief.

"Is this my stock account? Did you earn all this?"

"Yes. I noticed the trading app on your computer and used your account. This is my thanks for taking care of me."

"I opened this account years ago following the trend, but my stocks got stuck. I forgot about it—there was only a few thousand left. You turned it into hundreds of thousands in a month?!"

Nian Jinsui’s eyes nearly popped out.

Qin Chengyu really was an investment genius—flourishing in any world.
