But these were concerns for later.
At worst, he could starve himself for a few days and put on some tragic makeup—the real issue was getting out of the house in the first place!
Nian Jinsui glanced down at Qin Chengyu.
Might as well take advantage of his good mood now and bring it up?
"Chengyu, Liang’an mentioned a charity auction next weekend. I’ve been cooped up at home for so long—I kind of want to go and see what it’s like. Can I?"
He spoke cautiously, already preparing a whole speech to persuade him.
But Qin Chengyu didn’t even lift an eyelid before agreeing outright.
"Sure. You have been stuck inside for a while."
Long enough for those outside to start running their mouths.
In the shadows where Nian Jinsui couldn’t see, Qin Chengyu’s eyes narrowed slightly, a cold glint flashing through them.
This time,
he’d make sure the entire capital saw—his Suisui would always be someone they could never hope to reach.
That was true in the past, now, and would remain unchanged in the future.
Unaware of Qin Chengyu’s thoughts, Nian Jinsui was so thrilled by the permission that he impulsively leaned down and planted a loud kiss on Qin Chengyu’s cheek.
"Chengyu, I didn’t expect you to agree so easily! I’m so happy!"
He was already mentally planning how to play the part of a pitiful, down-and-out contrast to complete the System’s mission.
He’d assumed Qin Chengyu’s current possessiveness and unstable mood would make him reluctant to let him out—yet here he was, agreeing without hesitation.
What a pleasant surprise!
Thankfully, the System only required his attendance at the auction.
If it had demanded Qin Chengyu accompany him, the mission would’ve been impossible.
Qin Chengyu froze.
Aside from that one time Nian Jinsui had kissed him like coaxing him when he was mushroom-poisoned, this was the first time Suisui had initiated a kiss on his own.
Seeing Nian Jinsui’s beaming expression, Qin Chengyu’s heart softened.
Since Suisui is this happy…
He’d make sure nothing ruined his mood that day.
Noticing Qin Chengyu’s dazed look, Nian Jinsui pinched his cheek.
"Why are you staring at me like that?"
"This is the first time Suisui kissed me on his own."
Nian Jinsui’s lashes fluttered.
Was it really the first time?
He hadn’t even noticed—being intimate with Qin Chengyu had already become second nature.
Only now, with Qin Chengyu pointing it out, did it dawn on him.
The way Qin Chengyu was looking at him—like there were embers smoldering in his eyes—made Nian Jinsui’s face grow warmer the longer their gazes held.
He quickly covered Qin Chengyu’s eyes with his palm.
"Stop staring."
"Gege is beautiful. I like looking."
Qin Chengyu wrapped his fingers around Nian Jinsui’s wrist, slowly pulling his hand away.
Their eyes met again, an invisible current crackling between them, sparking like live wires.
Nian Jinsui could practically hear the frantic pounding of his heart—like a panicked deer blindly crashing through the woods—while Qin Chengyu was the predator lying in wait, jaws open, ready to devour his unsuspecting prey whole.
Trying to distract himself, Nian Jinsui tapped the small mole on Qin Chengyu’s right eyelid.
"Chengyu, this mole suits you so well here."
Qin Chengyu smirked.
"Gege’s moles are even prettier. There’s one on your lower back, one on your ankle…"
Nian Jinsui’s face burned hotter.
"Okay, okay, stop talking!"
Qin Chengyu sat up, pressing a palm over Nian Jinsui’s chest, his smile turning wicked.
"But my favorite is this little red one right here. When I kiss it, it turns even brighter—like it’s begging for more."
The sheer suggestiveness of his words had Nian Jinsui’s ears turning crimson.
But Qin Chengyu, clearly enjoying himself, continued:
"Gege’s heart is beating so fast."
His long fingers toyed with the buttons of Nian Jinsui’s pajamas, his intentions unmistakable.
"It’s not!"
Flustered, Nian Jinsui tried to swat his hand away, but Qin Chengyu caught his wrist.
"Every time gege acts like this—denying what’s so obvious—it makes me want to kiss you until you’re soft and pliant in my arms, until you’re gasping and begging."
He said it outright, no filter.
Nian Jinsui, trapped with both wrists pinned, watched as desire darkened Qin Chengyu’s gaze. As Qin Chengyu leaned in, he hastily surrendered:
"Chengyu, Chengyu, I’ll admit it now, okay—mmph—!"
Before he could finish, Qin Chengyu sealed their lips together, swallowing his words into a messy, heated kiss.
Right after breakfast, a tailor arrived to take Nian Jinsui’s measurements—apparently, Qin Chengyu had ordered a custom-made formal suit for him, expedited.
Nian Jinsui’s thoughts raced.
But I’m supposed to play the tragic, disgraced villain!
A high-end custom suit is the opposite of what I need!
So when Qin Chengyu came home for lunch, Nian Jinsui was about to tactfully explain his plan to keep a low profile—only for Qin Chengyu to speak first.
"Suisui, I’ve booked you a week of beauty treatments. They’ll come to the house starting tonight."
"No, no, cancel them!"
Nian Jinsui panicked.
If he got pampered into glowing perfection,
how was he supposed to be Ning Liang’an’s dowdy counterpart?
What if I accidentally outshine him?!
That’d be a disaster!
