SDS: Chapter 17

 "You Disgusting Trash—Don’t Touch Me!"

Noticing Tang Keyi's impatience,

Chen Zhudong smirked and took out a velvet box from his suit pocket,

changing the subject.

"By the way, since I’m in the jewelry business, I happened to bring a little trinket tonight. Why don’t you take a look, Assistant Tang?"

Tang Keyi had been about to say he only knew whether jewelry looked good or not

he wasn’t an expert—

but the moment his gaze landed on the opened box,

he was instantly captivated.

Inside was a bracelet studded with rubies.

Though clearly designed for women, it wasn’t overly feminine.

Its elegant simplicity appealed to Tang Keyi,

who was used to wearing high-end watches and understated men’s bracelets.

"What do you think, Assistant Tang?"

Chen Zhudong caught the undisguised admiration in Tang Keyi’s eyes and pressed further,

"You can try it on if you’d like."

"It is quite beautiful. I’ll give it a try."

Tang Keyi, eager to see how it looked,

took it without suspicion and slipped it onto his wrist.

Men’s jewelry tended to be simple and understated,

so Tang Keyi had rarely worn anything so vividly colored.

Surprisingly, the bold gemstone suited his taste perfectly.

His slender, pale wrist, adorned with the blood-red ruby bracelet,

shimmered under the dim lighting like a scene from a seductive Western oil painting.

Tang Keyi wondered,

What’s this guy’s angle?

Does he want me to pass this bracelet to Qin Zhiyan?

Well, if it’s going to anyone, it might as well be me.

Growing fonder of it by the second, Tang Keyi asked,

"Boss Chen, how much does this bracelet cost?"

Chen Zhudong smiled meaningfully.

"Just a million."

"That expensive?"

Tang Keyi was taken aback.

The price was steeper than he’d expected.

His allowance for the month was nearly spent—

he’d bought two watches recently—

and Grandma would surely scold him if she found out.

Chen Zhudong chuckled, unsurprised by Tang Keyi’s reaction.

"These rubies are rare crimson ones, pricier than ordinary ones. Do you like it?"

"I do."

Tang Keyi considered whether to ask Chen Zhudong

to wait until next month for payment or to put it on his credit card.

Seeing Tang Keyi’s obvious attachment, Chen Zhudong grew more confident.

"Since you like it so much, I’ll give it to you."

Tang Keyi was stunned.

What’s the catch? Is he trying to bribe me for something?

"But there’s a condition."

Chen Zhudong hesitated, his greedy gaze undisguised.

Now Tang Keyi was intrigued. He’d known Chen Zhudong had an ulterior motive—

he just hadn’t figured out what.

"What condition? Let’s hear it."

Chen Zhudong, seeing Tang Keyi bite the hook,

steadied himself and revealed his true intent:

"I want you to accompany me for three days."

Tang Keyi, a pampered young master of the Tang family,

was used to people fawning over him—never had someone demanded his company.

Slightly drunk, his mind sluggish,

Tang Keyi blinked blankly.

"Accompany you how?"

Chen Zhudong’s predatory stare left no room for misinterpretation.

"Don’t play dumb. If you’re already cozying up to Qin Zhiyan and the Tang family’s eldest son, what’s one more? If you satisfy me, I can give you more jewelry like this."

Cozying up to Big Brother?

The realization hit Tang Keyi like a bucket of ice water.

This man had been watching him, assuming he was seducing his own brother.

He wasn’t giving me jewelry for Qin Zhiyan’s sake—

he wanted me !

A wave of nausea rolled through him.

Chen Zhudong, mistaking Tang Keyi’s stunned silence for consideration,

reached out to touch his hand.

Tang Keyi snapped back to reality and flung the remaining wine

in his glass straight into Chen Zhudong’s face.

The glass followed, smashing against Chen Zhudong’s forehead.

"You disgusting pig! How dare you lay a finger on me!"

Fueled by alcohol and fury, Tang Keyi kicked him hard.

Having wrapped up his conversations,

Qin Zhiyan scanned the room but found no trace of Tang Keyi.

Even his inner monologue was absent.

Where did he run off to?

Just as he was about to call,

a commotion erupted from the hallway, drawing a crowd.

Qin Zhiyan’s brow twitched.

Did Tang Keyi cause trouble?

He strode toward the gathering and, sure enough,

heard familiar thoughts before even getting close.

[I’ll beat you to death!]

[Don’t anyone dare stop me!]

Qin Zhiyan’s expression darkened, his voice dropping dangerously.

"Make way."

The onlookers shuddered at his tone and hastily parted when they saw who it was.

"Isn’t that President Qin’s assistant doing the beating?"

"That’s the Tang family’s young master!"

The crowd buzzed with conflicting gossip.

Qin Zhiyan pushed through and found Tang Keyi brandishing a broom—

God knew where he’d gotten it—

like a drunken madman, whacking a middle-aged man curled on the floor.

The man howled,

"Help! Someone restrain him!"

"Shut up! I’ll kill you!"

Tang Keyi showed no mercy, aiming the broom at Chen Zhudong’s mouth.

The host of the banquet, a respected business leader and

Chen Zhudong’s friend, called for security.

But Qin Zhiyan cut in sharply,

"Don’t touch him."

His command froze everyone in place.

As the one who’d brought Tang Keyi, Qin Zhiyan would handle any fallout—

but he wouldn’t let security manhandle Tang Keyi in public.

The host, trying to salvage the situation, said,

"President Qin, perhaps your assistant could calm down? Let’s talk this out."

Seeing Tang Keyi still swinging wildly, oblivious to his surroundings, Qin Zhiyan barked,

"Tang Keyi!"

Tang Keyi jolted, finally stopping mid-swing to stare blankly at Qin Zhiyan.

Security quickly hauled Chen Zhudong up.

"Boss Chen, are you alright? What happened?"

the host asked.

Chen Zhudong, scanning the crowd—including Qin Zhiyan—swallowed his curses.

Men like Qin Zhiyan wouldn’t tolerate others coveting their lovers.

Thinking fast, Chen Zhudong lied,

"He stole my ruby bracelet! When I confronted him, he attacked me!"

His scheme was clever—the bracelet was right there on Tang Keyi’s wrist.

The crowd erupted.
