SDS: Chapter 16

"Everything I Wear Is a Gift from CEO Qin"

"W-what are you laughing at...?"

One of the young ladies felt her heart skip a beat, thinking to herself,

No wonder President Qin was tempted by his looks—who wouldn’t be moved by that face?

Tang Keyi suppressed his smile and replied,

"Nothing. I was just laughing because you guessed right. This outfit was a gift from President Qin."

The two women quickly regained their composure and said haughtily,

"We advise you not to get any wild ideas! Someone like President Qin is far beyond the reach of a mere assistant!"

"Oh? Are you saying even the Tang family’s treasured jewel isn’t good enough for Qin Zhiyan?"

A tall, imposing figure suddenly appeared beside Tang Keyi,

his deep voice cutting sharply into the conversation.

"The Tang family?"

The two women froze.

"Big Brother!"

Tang Keyi’s eyes lit up when he recognized the newcomer.

Tang Kexing, the eldest of the Tang siblings,

gave Tang Keyi’s shoulder a reassuring pat, his expression dark with anger.

"Which families do you two belong to? How dare you threaten and intimidate the Tang family’s young master?"

"Y-you’re from the Tang family?"

The two women panicked, staring at Tang Keyi in disbelief.

"You are...?"

Tang Keyi smirked.

"Hello. I’m Tang Keyi."

The name Tang Keyi carried considerable weight in the capital—

especially after his bold declaration of wanting to marry Qin Zhiyan.

The two women’s eyes widened in shock before they hastily bowed their heads in apology.

"Young Master Tang! We’re so sorry! We were wrong!"

"Young Master Tang, we were blind! Please don’t hold it against us!"

Tang Kexing had no intention of letting them off so easily.

"Now tell me—does our Tang Keyi deserve Qin Zhiyan or not?"

Tang Keyi, embarrassed, was about to change the subject when the two women blurted out:

"Of course he does! Young Master Tang and President Qin are a match made in heaven!"

"We were toads lusting after a swan! We’d never dare covet President Qin!"

Tang Keyi’s lips twitched.

Great.

Now my image is going to shift from a devoted admirer to a tyrannical suitor

who forbids anyone from approaching Qin Zhiyan.

Tang Kexing snorted coldly.

"Good. Now get lost."

The two women, pale-faced but relieved, scurried away.

"Big Brother, why were you so harsh?"

Tang Keyi tugged at his brother’s sleeve.

"I was having fun with them."

"They were bullying you. How could I stand by and watch?"

Tang Kexing, over a decade older than Tang Keyi,

doted on his youngest brother as if he were his own child.

There was no way he’d tolerate anyone slighting him.

"I was hiding my identity on purpose. Their reactions were hilarious. Do you really think anyone could bully me? Don’t worry."

"You’re too carefree."

Tang Kexing’s eyes softened with affection.

"Big Brother, are you the only one here? Did the others come too?"

Tang Keyi glanced around but didn’t spot any familiar faces.

"No, I’m representing the family. I saw you earlier, but I got held up talking to a business partner. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have let you be humiliated."

"I wasn’t humiliated! I’m the untouchable young master of the capital—who could humiliate me?"

Tang Keyi raised an eyebrow.

"Fine. Once you’ve ‘conquered’ Qin Zhiyan, your brothers will help you teach him a lesson."

"Uh..."

Flustered, Tang Keyi quickly changed the subject.

"Big Brother, don’t stay too late. Sister-in-law will be waiting."

"She already called to hurry me home."

Tang Kexing’s face lit up with happiness, not a trace of annoyance in his voice.

"Should I drop you off first?"

Tang Keyi, ever the dutiful assistant, shook his head.

"I’m still President Qin’s assistant. The assistant can’t leave before the boss."

"Our Keyi has really grown up."

Tang Kexing sighed emotionally.

"Big Brother is so proud."

Tang Keyi didn’t know how to respond.

Were their standards for him really this low?

One responsible sentence, and they’re moved to tears?

After exchanging a few more affectionate words, Tang Kexing finally left,

but not without reminding Tang Keyi not to let anyone bully him.

From a distance, Tang Keyi watched Qin Zhiyan still deep in conversation—

it didn’t look like he’d be wrapping up soon.

Perhaps because of Tang Kexing’s appearance and obvious closeness to Tang Keyi,

no one else dared approach him.

Bored, Tang Keyi indulged in the fine imported liquor,

sipping glass after glass until he felt the alcohol warm his cheeks.

Deciding he needed air, he carried his drink out to the corridor.

"You’re President Qin’s assistant, right?"

Leaning against the railing, Tang Keyi turned slowly at the voice behind him.

A middle-aged man stood there—dressed garishly, slightly overweight, and utterly unfamiliar.

His murky eyes locked onto Tang Keyi’s,

sending an inexplicable wave of discomfort through him.

"I am."

Tang Keyi replied politely.

"And you are...?"

"Chen Zhudong. I’m in the jewelry business in Haicheng, just arrived in the capital for some collaborations."

Chen Zhudong stepped closer, smiling ingratiatingly.

"Ah, Boss Chen. Nice to meet you."

Tang Keyi nodded courteously.

"It’s stuffy inside, isn’t it? I came out for some air too."

Chen Zhudong struck up conversation.

Tang Keyi could tell the man was deliberately trying to cozy up to him.

Is he hoping I’ll introduce him to Qin Zhiyan?

Or does he want insider information?

Since he had nothing better to do, Tang Keyi decided to play along.

"It is pretty stuffy."

Encouraged by Tang Keyi’s lack of resistance, Chen Zhudong’s smile widened.

"What should I call you?"

"Just call me Assistant Tang."

"Assistant Tang."

As an outsider, Chen Zhudong had only heard vague mentions of the Tang family

and didn’t connect the dots between this "assistant" and the prestigious clan.

Tang Keyi waited for Chen Zhudong’s next move.

"You must’ve just graduated, right?"

Chen Zhudong assessed Tang Keyi’s youthful, inexperienced demeanor.

Me?

Just graduated?

Tang Keyi smirked inwardly.

I’ve been out of school for years—I just look young.

Pleased with the compliment, he nodded.

"Yeah, fresh out of college."

"What does your family do?"

Chen Zhudong continued fishing for information.

"Oh, just some small business."

Tang Keyi kept his answer deliberately vague.

Chen Zhudong’s eyes gleamed with understanding.

Average family background,

yet landed a job as Qin Zhiyan’s assistant right after graduation—

and dressed in designer clothes?

The answer is obvious.

Testing his theory, he asked,

"That outfit of yours looks expensive. Did President Qin give it to you?"

Tang Keyi’s patience frayed.

What’s the big deal about Qin Zhiyan buying me clothes?

Why is everyone so hung up on it? I should’ve just paid for it myself!

He took a sip of wine and answered flatly,

"Yep. Head to toe—all gifts from President Qin."
