Nian Jinsui immediately protested,
"How could I when I never even see you?! You’re already gone by the time I wake up! I only just thought of this today, so I looked it up to get some basic information. I knew you’d overthink it, which is why I deleted my search history—who knew you could still see it from your end?!"
From his words, Qin Chengyu keenly picked up on a hint of grievance and tentatively asked,
"Suisui… did you miss me?"
Nian Jinsui shot him a glare and dodged the question.
"You said things would go back to how they used to be, but they’re nothing like before! You don’t even have time to stay home and talk or play games with me. I’ve been so bored all alone—of course I’d want to find something to do…"
Qin Chengyu’s mood brightened instantly. Even though Nian Jinsui hadn’t admitted it outright, he could tell—Suisui had missed him.
"Suisui, it’s my fault."
He tried to move closer, but Nian Jinsui, still angry, crumpled up his tissue and threw it at him. "Stay away!"
Qin Chengyu froze. "Suisui, then let me help you look into music schools in the capital, okay? But you haven’t graduated yet—you’ll have to wait until then to enroll."
Nian Jinsui scoffed, unmoved. "Look all you want. As for where I choose to study, I’ll decide that myself."
"Then at least let my research be a reference for you."
When Nian Jinsui ignored him, Qin Chengyu quickly changed tactics.
"...Gege?"
Sure enough, the moment the word left his lips, Qin Chengyu noticed the subtle flicker in Nian Jinsui’s eyes.
"Gege, don’t be mad anymore, okay? Gege once said that no matter how badly I behaved, you’d always forgive me." Qin Chengyu’s voice softened as he inched closer.
"I take it back! And every other promise I ever made—I’m taking all of them back! So you can’t keep using my words against me!"
Nian Jinsui was still susceptible to this tactic. Though his tone remained sharp, he didn’t stop Qin Chengyu from approaching.
Qin Chengyu gently took his hand and pressed light kisses along his slender fingers. "No take-backs. I’ve memorized every word gege ever said to me—they’re etched in my mind forever."
Nian Jinsui tried to pull away, but Qin Chengyu held firm.
"Gege’s hands are so beautiful… Let me kiss them."
Nian Jinsui was speechless. Was Qin Chengyu’s brain now entirely filled with filthy thoughts? Where was the cold, indifferent Qin Chengyu from before? Had his secondary gender shift scrambled his brain?
Honestly, Qin Chengyu didn’t seem like an Alpha—more like a rabid dog in perpetual heat.
"Gege… do you still like Chu Heting?"
Nian Jinsui glanced at him. Seeing no signs of impending madness, he countered, "Didn’t you ask me that already?"
"But it’s been days. Maybe gege doesn’t like him anymore."
As he spoke, Qin Chengyu switched to kissing Nian Jinsui’s other hand.
Nian Jinsui: "..."
He was done indulging Qin Chengyu. Besides, even if he could say he didn’t like Chu Heting anymore, would Qin Chengyu believe him? Staying silent would only provoke him further—might as well embrace the chaos.
"Yeah, I do still like Chu Heting. If you don’t like hearing it, that’s not my problem." Nian Jinsui adopted a defiant stance.
The answer was exactly what Qin Chengyu had expected, so he took it surprisingly well. "Gege, I’m an Alpha now too, and the head of the Qin family. I’m every bit as good as Chu Heting—couldn’t you like me instead?"
Nian Jinsui snapped in exasperation, "You bring up Chu Heting every other day—seems to me you’re the one obsessed with him, not me!"
Qin Chengyu’s face instantly twisted as if he’d swallowed a fly, disgust written all over his features.
Chu Heting: Please leave me out of this. I’m just a prop in your foreplay.
Nian Jinsui wanted to cry. If Chu Heting could see through his acting, why couldn’t Qin Chengyu—just as brilliant—tell that he didn’t actually like Chu Heting?
If he’d thought about it more carefully, he would’ve realized: Qin Chengyu had no idea what real love was.
Qin Chengyu believed he loved Nian Jinsui because of the things Nian Jinsui had said—that love meant wanting to be good to someone, to see them happy, to stay with them forever.
But what Qin Chengyu felt for Nian Jinsui couldn’t be summed up by something as simple as "like."
Nian Jinsui was the only light in the ruins of his life, the one who’d set him on a path entirely different from the novel’s original trajectory.
He depended on Nian Jinsui. He worshipped Nian Jinsui. He loved Nian Jinsui.
He was a devoted servant, a fervent believer, a loyal partner.
And yet—at the same time—his love was tainted by something darker: a possessive, obsessive madness.
Like a dragon hoarding its treasure, he clung to Nian Jinsui every night, allowing no one else to so much as glance his way.
And in Qin Chengyu’s eyes, Nian Jinsui was infatuated with Chu Heting. Around him, Nian Jinsui lost all self-respect—smiling sweetly, begging for affection, even attempting something as extreme as jumping off a building.
It drove him insane with jealousy!
How could he possibly realize Nian Jinsui’s feelings were all an act?
The genius villain, gifted in every skill, was utterly clueless when it came to love.
