SDS: Chapter 06

"So You Still Like Me a Lot, Huh?"

Qin Zhiyan leaned back on the sofa,

his flawlessly handsome face exuding an oppressive aura,

as if he were seated upon a throne.

His very presence commanded the room with an unshakable dominance.

Across the table, Tang Keyi perched on a low ottoman,

already at a physical disadvantage—and his nerves weren’t helping.

His fair fingers twisted together unconsciously, betraying his unease.

[So awkward. I know I’m good-looking, but does he have to stare like that?]

[Say something! Is he waiting for me to speak first? What do I even say?]

Zhiyan’s long, well-defined fingers tapped rhythmically against his knee as he listened to Keyi’s inner monologue.

Awkward?

Not for him.

After enduring Keyi’s shameless self-praise,

Zhiyan took the opportunity to study the Tang family’s spoiled young master more closely.

Despite the obvious discomfort, Keyi maintained a facade of composure.

Raised in luxury, his features were delicate—rosy lips, peach-blossom complexion.

Even as a notorious playboy,

there was an innate elegance about him that wasn’t entirely off-putting.

But his eyes were the most captivating.

Slightly intoxicated, they shimmered with an intoxicating allure,

like peach blossoms glistening after a spring rain—ethereal yet hypnotic.

Objectively speaking, Tang Keyi was breathtakingly beautiful.

He wasn’t wrong about that.

But looks had never stirred even a flicker of interest in Zhiyan.

With his status, he could have any beauty he desired.

What intrigued him wasn’t Keyi’s face—it was the mind behind it.

"President Qin,"

Keyi finally broke the silence,

"Didn’t you say we’d have a drink?"

"Help yourself. I’ll pass for now"

With that, Zhiyan stood.

[If you’re not drinking, why should I?! Just let me go back to my party!]

[Why’s he standing?! Is he actually going to hit me?!]

Zhiyan suppressed a sigh.

What’s with this fixation on violence?

Even if Keyi had committed some grave offense,

Qin Zhiyan would never lay a hand on a member of the Tang family.

At worst, he’d let the Tangs discipline their own.

[Why’s he pacing?]

[...Is he looking for a weapon?]

Zhiyan walked to the far side of the room,

then gradually closed the distance, testing a theory.

Five meters.

That was the range within which he could hear Keyi’s thoughts.

How absurd.

He loomed over Keyi, studying him.

Why him?

What makes this one different?

Keyi’s heart raced.

[Here it comes! He’s really gonna do it!]

[Just don’t hit my face, okay?]

[Get on with it already!]

A furtive glance upward.

[...Damn, he’s really handsome. Even from this angle.]

Zhiyan barely stifled a laugh.

Don’t tell me he’s actually developing a crush.

He’d only entertained this farce because Keyi’s audacity amused him.

But if the Tang heir genuinely liked him?

That was a complication he’d rather avoid.

Returning to his seat, Zhiyan fixed Keyi with a penetrating gaze.

"I heard you like me. That you want to marry me?"

The idea was ludicrous.

This spoiled brat, daring to claim him?

[F*CK. This is mortifying.]

[I don’t like you! Single for life!]

[How do I answer? Should I clear things up now?]

"It’s all just rumors, really. Don’t believe everything you hear—"

"Then why not deny them?"

Now that he knew Keyi’s "feelings" were fake, Zhiyan saw no reason to hold back.

"What’s your game? Damaging my reputation?"

[Your reputation?! How is me liking you an insult?! Do you know how many people wish I’d chase them?!]

Zhiyan’s voice turned icy.

"Or were you using this rumor for some other purpose?"

Keyi paled.

How does he know?

"I did try to clarify—"

"The truth."

Zhiyan’s stare was merciless.

"I’ll find out either way."

Keyi’s stomach dropped.

Not only had he not denied the rumors—he’d let them spiral.

[He’s backed me into a corner.]

There was no way he could admit the truth now.

If Zhiyan learned he’d been used as a shield against arranged marriages,

retaliation would be inevitable.

Worse, if Grandma Tang found out…

Three blind dates a day.

Every day.

"Well, I did like you… but feelings fade…"

Keyi ventured weakly.

Zhiyan feigned offense.

"So your ‘love’ is that cheap? A year of grand declarations, then poof—gone?"

[A year isn’t enough?!]

[You’re forcing my hand here.]

In a desperate gambit, Keyi slapped his thigh and committed.

"Seeing you again—it’s all come flooding back!"

Zhiyan’s lips curved, just slightly.

"So you’re saying… you still like me very much."
