Chapter 95 Psychological Harm Beyond Assessment

“Uncle Liu, please arrange for someone to pack Chengyu’s belongings and send him back to the Qin family,”

Nian Jinsui ordered decisively.

“What…what?”

Uncle Liu’s face was full of disbelief.

He hadn’t expected things between Nian Jinsui and Qin Chengyu to escalate to this extent instead of reconciling.

“There’s no need,”

Qin Chengyu replied calmly, his tone devoid of warmth.

“I didn’t bring much with me initially, so I’ll pack myself. As for everything else, those were bought by Young Master Nian. I’ll leave them behind.”

Qin Chengyu’s voice carried an icy distance,

even reverting to the formal address 'Young Master Nian'.

Nian Jinsui’s heart tightened painfully at this newfound estrangement.

He consoled himself:

It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t take anything. When he becomes the head of the Qin family, he’ll have all the wealth he could ever want.

Seeing this, Uncle Liu felt uneasy. Quietly excusing himself, he hurried to call Nian Yixin and report the situation.

Qin Chengyu turned to head for the elevator to pack, but Nian Jinsui suddenly called out to him.

“Chengyu…”

Qin Chengyu’s eyes lit up momentarily, and his fingers instinctively clenched. He stopped but didn’t immediately turn around. After a pause to suppress his emotions, he slowly faced Nian Jinsui.

“Does Young Master Nian have something else to say?”

“Uh…what about Xiang Liumei?” Nian Jinsui had suddenly remembered her and realized there hadn’t been any updates. She might still be in Qin Chengyu’s hands.

The faint light in Qin Chengyu’s eyes dimmed completely. A mocking smile tugged at his lips.

Qin Chengyu, what are you still hoping for?

But to Nian Jinsui, Qin Chengyu’s expression seemed to imply something else entirely.

“Did you…kill her?”

Qin Chengyu gazed at Nian Jinsui without a trace of emotion, then nodded slowly before turning and entering the elevator.

[System Notice: This month, the host’s harm assessment for Qin Chengyu is 130 points, including 30 points for physical harm and 100 points for psychological harm. Congratulations, the host has passed the assessment. Due to psychological harm exceeding the evaluation range, the excess will not count toward the score. After Qin Chengyu returns to the Qin family, monthly harm assessments will no longer be required.]

Hearing the system’s notification, Nian Jinsui felt no joy—his mind buzzed blankly.

Psychological harm exceeded the evaluation range?

How much pain and anguish must Qin Chengyu be enduring?

“Xilu, you’ve ruined me this time,” Nian Jinsui murmured, his eyes hollow. “All the goodwill I’ve built with Qin Chengyu has been wiped out. Did you see the way he looked at me? Completely devoid of feeling. There’s no way I’ll escape the novel’s ending now. He’ll probably kill me…”

The system’s reply was indifferent: [Host, it’s too early to say. In future plot developments, you’ll have many opportunities to interact with Qin Chengyu. At that time, you can try to repair your relationship.]

“Take it one step at a time, then…” Nian Jinsui sighed. “By the way, Xilu, did Qin Chengyu really kill Xiang Liumei? Could this leave hidden dangers?”

In the original storyline, Xiang Liumei was murdered by a hitman hired by Nian Jinsui. Now, Qin Chengyu had taken action instead. Killing someone wasn’t a minor issue, and Nian Jinsui worried this might affect Qin Chengyu’s future.

[Qin Chengyu did not kill Xiang Liumei. He made her leave Country C.]

“So he didn’t kill anyone?” Nian Jinsui was momentarily stunned before realization dawned, leaving his eyes filled with sadness and guilt.

“He must be so disappointed in me that he didn’t even bother explaining…” Nian Jinsui murmured. “If he didn’t take Xiang Liumei’s life and instead sent her abroad, doesn’t that show he still has some kindness left?”

This was wishful thinking on Nian Jinsui’s part.

Qin Chengyu never acted out of kindness; he simply saw no need to expend extra effort when Xiang Liumei could be controlled through her son. Killing was unnecessarily troublesome.

Once Xiang Liumei was abroad, she would be entirely at Qin Chengyu’s mercy. Anyone who dared threaten Nian Jinsui would never be let off easily by him.

The ringing of Nian Jinsui’s phone interrupted his thoughts. Glancing at the caller ID, he saw it was Nian Yixin.

It seemed Uncle Liu had informed him of the situation.

Taking a deep breath, Nian Jinsui answered the call.

“Jinsui, Uncle Liu told me you’re sending Chengyu back to the Qin family. What’s going on? Be honest with me. What happened?” Nian Yixin’s voice was filled with urgency and concern.

“Dad, please don’t worry. Take care of your health,” Nian Jinsui replied evasively. “My mind is a mess right now. I can’t explain clearly.”

Nian Yixin sighed heavily. “Jinsui, it’s fine if you can’t explain it to me, but you need to have an open conversation with Chengyu. If there’s any misunderstanding, you’ll regret it later. That’s your father’s advice from experience.”

“Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll handle it.” Nian Jinsui’s lips pressed into a thin line, his long lashes trembling. In truth, he wasn’t sure if he could handle it…

“Jinsui, if you’ve made up your mind, your father and I will respect your decision. I’ll take care of things with the Qin family.”

“Thank you, Dad.” Tears welled in Nian Jinsui’s eyes. If only this cursed mission didn’t exist, everything could have stayed the same…

Qin Chengyu quickly packed his belongings. When he came down to the living room, Nian Jinsui was nowhere to be seen. Only Uncle Liu and two servants were there to help carry his luggage.

“Master Qin, I’ll escort you back,” Uncle Liu offered, his tone tinged with reluctance.

“Thank you, Uncle Liu.” Qin Chengyu’s expression was indifferent, his eyes cold and lifeless, as if a thick layer of frost covered them—capable of both melting and freezing again.

He seemed to have reverted to the silent, detached Qin Chengyu of the past.

As Qin Chengyu stepped out the door, his gaze unconsciously drifted toward the swimming pool.

It was here, by this pool, that he had first saved Nian Jinsui.

That was their very first meeting.

Nearly a year had passed since then—11 months, to be precise.

The 11 months spent with the Nian family had been the happiest time of his life.

Qin Chengyu paused, his steps faltering. He could feel a searing gaze from somewhere, watching him intently.
