Chapter 90 The Villain Takes Action

Ye kang feared that Chu Heting would continue his investigation and discover his connections with Xiang Liumei,

thereby realizing that Nian Jinsui’s plot to kill Ning Liang’an was also being orchestrated by him.

To prevent this, Ye kang directly revealed the truth about Ning Liang’an and Nian Jinsui’s identities to Chu Heting,

falsely claiming that he had overheard their conversation while Nian Jinsui was on the phone.

Seizing the opportunity, he clung to Chu Heting for support.

As a result, Chu Heting ceased his further inquiries and instead informed Nian Yixin and Lin Shuqian of the truth,

allowing Ning Liang’an to reclaim his rightful identity and heritage.

From that moment on, Ning Liang’an returned to the Nian family, while Nian Jinsui,

the fake young master whose plot to eliminate Ning Liang’an was exposed,

was met with utter disappointment from Lin Shuqian and Nian Yixin.

They temporarily confined him within the Nian household until Qin Chengyu,

who had returned to the Qin family, proposed a marriage alliance.

Nian Jinsui was reminiscing about the plot when Xiang Liumei suddenly interrupted his thoughts.

“Young Master Nian, what a coincidence that you still know the real Young Master Nian. It’s your classmate, Ning Liang’an.”

Unfortunately, Nian Jinsui didn’t react as Xiang Liumei had anticipated,

not even showing a hint of surprise.

Since pretending here was pointless, he decided not to waste any more effort acting.

“That is quite a coincidence,”

Nian Jinsui responded coolly, his eyes sharp as they locked onto Xiang Liumei’s.

“Is this secret truly known only to you? Have you not told anyone else besides me?”

Xiang Liumei was taken aback, hesitating for a moment before replying,

“…Of course, only I know besides you.”

Nian Jinsui smirked slightly, withdrawing his gaze without answering.

“Alright then. I’ll contact you later.”

He stood up and left the café without looking back.

Meanwhile, Qin Chengyu was in a taxi outside the café.

Watching Nian Jinsui drive away, he decided to take action.

Shortly after, a middle-aged man emerged from the café and got into a car.

Qin Chengyu recognized the license plate—it was the ride-share car he had booked earlier.

Without hesitation, he approached and opened the door, sliding into the front passenger seat.

The driver was startled.

“Who are you?”

“I’m the one who booked you,”

Qin Chengyu replied, staring intently at the driver.

“What did you hear? Tell me.”

“Sir, this isn’t just about catching someone cheating...”

the driver began, realizing the situation was more complicated than he had anticipated.

“I need extra pay.”

“Alright,”

Qin Chengyu responded decisively.

The driver enthusiastically began recounting the conversation he had overheard.

“I think they were arguing about something important. The woman became quite agitated and started shouting, saying things like, ‘Those women framed my husband! It was Lin Shuqian and Nian Yixin who wrongfully accused him! They deserve to raise someone else’s child for over twenty years!’”

Qin Chengyu contemplated the driver's words.

The two names he heard—Lin Shuqian and Nian Yixin—must refer to the same individuals associated with Nian Jinsui.

Are they insinuating that Nian Jinsui isn’t the biological son of the Nian family?

It seemed this woman was attempting to extort Nian Jinsui.

“In my opinion, that woman is trying to blackmail that young man,”

the driver concluded.

“Blackmailing Nian Jinsui?”

Qin Chengyu’s eyes narrowed coldly.

At that moment, he caught sight of a familiar figure entering the café—it was Ye kang.

Qin Chengyu’s narrowed eyes turned icy.

He couldn’t believe this was a mere coincidence.

Back at home,

Nian Jinsui was soaking comfortably in the bathtub,

enjoying the luxury that wasn’t available in his previous life.

However, he faced a dilemma.

According to the plot, he should now find someone to deal with Xiang Liumei.

Yet, despite Xiang Liumei being foolish and despicable,

Nian Jinsui couldn’t bring himself to hire a hitman to kill her.

After all, Xiang Liumei was just a law-abiding citizen.

Since the system hadn’t yet assigned him a new mission, Nian Jinsui decided to delay.

The absence of instructions implied that the main storyline was still progressing normally,

so there was no rush.

“Just lie low for now,”

he thought.

As he lay back, Qin Chengxu returned to the Nian family home.

Seeing that Nian Jinsui’s room lights were off, he felt a strange sense of calm.

He entered the room and began analyzing the evening’s events.

The woman had said,

“Lin Shuqian and Nian Yixin deserve to raise someone else’s child for over twenty years,”

indicating that their grudge likely originated before Nian Jinsui’s birth.

She also mentioned,

“Those women framed my husband,”

suggesting a scandalous affair.

With just a couple of sentences from the driver, Qin Chengxu extracted significant information.

Following the trail, Qin Chengxu searched online for information about the Nian family from over twenty years ago.

It wasn’t hard to find that when Nian Yixin and Lin Shuqian took control,

they restructured the Nian family,

purging long-standing issues and ushering in a new era that revitalized the century-old enterprise,

maintaining its status among the top three families in Imperial Capital.

Of course, such drastic measures naturally offended many.

However,

this didn’t quite align with the woman’s claims about “women” and “false accusations.”

Soon, Qin Chengxu found another relevant news article.

Years ago, leveraging the winds of reform, several female employees of the Nian family’s company had collectively accused their department head of sexual harassment.

As a result, the department head was fired.

This partially matched the woman’s story.

Qin Chengxu immediately hired a private detective,

sending the news article along and requesting detailed information about the former department head.

It was already late at night.

Qin Chengxu stood up and walked to the window,

noticing that Nian Jinsui’s room lights were off.

“Suisui, good night,”

 he whispered softly.

He didn’t care whether Nian Jinsui was the real son of the Nian family

what mattered to him was ensuring Nian Jinsui’s peaceful rest every night.

His expression hardened, and he vowed silently:

Anyone who tries to harm Nian Jinsui will not escape his wrath.
