Chapter 84 The Puppy Said You’re My Wife

After examining Qin Chengyu’s condition, the farmhouse host said,

“He’s experiencing hallucinations from mushroom poisoning. I personally cooked the soup, so it’s definitely not the problem. Likely, the mushrooms you grilled weren’t cooked long enough. You should also check with your other friends to see if anyone else feels unwell.”

Nian Jinsui quickly called Chu Hejun to check.

Chu Hejun, sitting in the car, nearly burst out laughing when he heard about Qin Chengyu’s condition.

Forcing himself to sound calm, he said,

“We’re all fine. I guess Qin Chengyu just got unlucky.”

Driving the car, Chu Heting glanced at the smug expression on Chu Hejun’s face through the rearview mirror.

After confirming that Ning Liang’an was sound asleep in the passenger seat,

he asked quietly,

“Did you do something to him?”

Chu Hejun shrugged, unconcerned.

“I just wanted to teach him a lesson. I gave him two slightly undercooked Green Caps. It’s not life-threatening.”

Chu Heting frowned.

“Trying to mess with Qin Chengyu? Be careful, or he might turn the tables on you.”

“What? No way!”

“Think about it,”

Chu Heting warned.

“Would Nian Jinsui suspect you? If he does, it might leave a bad impression. You could end up shooting yourself in the foot. Besides, Qin Chengyu is cunning—he might use this against you.”

Chu Hejun began to panic as the implications sank in.

“That guy’s insufferable. I just wanted to mess with him. What should I do now, Heting-ge?”

“Call Nian Jinsui later—”

“What? Admit it? Won’t that just make him angrier?”

“Let me finish. I’m not telling you to admit anything. Just say this…”

Chu Heting outlined a strategy.

“Make sure you call later but not too late. Ideally, after Qin Chengyu has had a chance to badmouth you, so you can clear things up and turn the situation to your advantage.”

After listening, Chu Hejun gave a thumbs-up, his eyes gleaming.

“Heting-ge, you’re the best!”

Chu Heting sighed inwardly.

Could this foolish younger brother really outmaneuver Qin Chengyu? He had serious doubts.

Meanwhile, Nian Jinsui hung up and anxiously asked the host,

“None of my friends are feeling unwell. It’s just him—what should I do?”

“Take him to the hospital immediately!”

“Alright.”

Nian Jinsui quickly packed up his belongings and turned to Qin Chengyu.

“Come on, Grandpa will take you to the hospital.”

The host couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

But Qin Chengyu shook his head vehemently.

“I don’t want to go to the hospital!”

“You have no choice!”

Nian Jinsui frowned.

“How can you, at your age, still be afraid of hospitals?”

“I’m five years old!”

Qin Chengyu declared proudly, holding up five fingers.

The host, barely holding back his laughter, looked away, shoulders shaking.

Every year someone gets mushroom poisoning, and every year it’s hilarious.

Nian Jinsui pointed to the glass door and said,

“Look at your reflection. You’re taller than me! How can you be five years old?”

Qin Chengyu looked at the reflection and gasped, his face turning pale.

“Why do I look like this? I am five years old…”

Hearing the hint of tears in Qin Chengyu’s voice, Nian Jinsui panicked.

“It just means you’re amazing! You’re so tall at five—no other kid can compare to you!”

Qin Chengyu brightened up at the praise but still insisted,

“I don’t want to go to the hospital…”

Nian Jinsui sighed, trying to coax him.

“Alright, no hospital. Let’s just go home. Say goodbye to the host.”

“Goodbye, host,”

Qin Chengyu said politely.

The host, grinning ear to ear, played along.

“Goodbye! Be good and listen to your grandpa.”

Nian Jinsui shot the host a strange look, thinking the world had gone completely topsy-turvy.

As they walked to the parking lot, Qin Chengyu suddenly tightened his grip on Nian Jinsui’s hand.

Startled, Nian Jinsui looked down, but seeing the innocence in Qin Chengyu’s expression, he figured it was just the hallucinations and let it slide.

Halfway to the car, Qin Chengyu said,

“I know you’re not my grandpa.”

“Oh? How do you know?”

“The puppy told me.”

Nian Jinsui: …

This mushroom poisoning is something else. Now the dog can talk?

Qin Chengyu leaned in closer, his voice shy.

“The puppy said you’re actually my wife.”

Nian Jinsui: !!!

Before Nian Jinsui could process this shocking statement, Qin Chengyu asked innocently,

“How long does it take to get to the hospital?”

“About an hour,”

Nian Jinsui answered instinctively.

“You lied! We’re not going home at all!”

Qin Chengyu instantly let go of Nian Jinsui’s hand and bolted down a small path.

Nian Jinsui: !!!

Even poisoned, Qin Chengyu was sharp enough to catch his lie.

Truly the ultimate villain!

What else could he do? Chase him, of course!

“Don’t run, Qin Chengyu!”

Nian Jinsui shouted, sprinting after him.

Despite his efforts, Qin Chengyu’s stamina was too good.

Nian Jinsui, on the other hand, was left panting, drenched in sweat, and thoroughly exhausted.

“What did I do to deserve this…”

Nian Jinsui muttered, hands on his knees.

Moments later, Qin Chengyu returned on his own, leaning down to look at him with concern.

“Wife, are you okay?”

“I’m not… your wife…”

Nian Jinsui managed to gasp out.

“I don’t believe you. You keep lying to me. I trust the puppy,”

Qin Chengyu said, completely unbothered.

Nian Jinsui gritted his teeth in frustration.

Was Qin Chengyu brilliant or just plain dumb in this state?

“Wife, what’s your name?”

“Shouldn’t you already know my name if I’m your wife?”

“I think I do…”

Qin Chengyu scratched his head in thought before lighting up.

“Are you ‘Sui Sui’?”

Nian Jinsui froze.

Did he just recognize me?

Is he recovering?

But after scrutinizing Qin Chengyu’s innocent expression,

he concluded that the man was still far from normal.

“Do you not like me calling you ‘wife’? Then I’ll call you ‘Sui Sui.’ Sui Sui, Sui Sui…”

“Alright, alright, enough!”

Nian Jinsui groaned, feeling a headache coming on.

Why is he so talkative when he’s poisoned?
