Chapter 60 A Weighty Birthday Present

"Oh, by the way, Chengyu, you haven't opened the present I prepared for you yet. It's right there on the table, why don’t you go grab it?"

Qin Chengyu stood up to fetch the gift Nian Jinsui mentioned. The package was quite large.

But when he tried to lift it, it wouldn’t budge...

"This heavy?"

"Of course, it's a weighty gift!" Nian Jinsui laughed, barely holding it in as he approached. "Go ahead and open it."

Qin Chengyu pulled the ribbon down and lifted the lid, only to see two shiny silver...

"Jinsui, are these dumbbells?" Qin Chengyu asked, puzzled.

"Exactly! Did you eat enough at dinner just now? If not, you might want to go back and eat more, because starting tomorrow, I'm putting you on a strict fitness plan. You won’t be able to eat whatever you want anymore."

Qin Chengyu was speechless for a moment before replying, "...I’m full."

"Everything about you is great, but you're too skinny. You need to work out properly. From now on, I'll be your personal fitness trainer—get ready for some hardcore training!" Nian Jinsui declared confidently.

This was the solution Nian Jinsui had thought up after several nights of restless sleep.

Last month, Qin Chengluo had inadvertently caused Qin Chengyu to get injured twice, which, fortunately, helped him pass the system’s injury assessment.

But the assessment happens every month, and he couldn't rely on accidents like that every time.

After much consideration, Nian Jinsui finally came up with a response strategy.

“Xilu, what do you think of me putting Qin Chengyu through hardcore training to strengthen his body? Does it count as causing harm to him physically?”

[After evaluation, the system has determined that the host’s method can cause Qin Chengyu’s body to experience fatigue and exhaustion, which falls under the category of physical harm.]

"Then I’m relieved! Finally, a way that’s good for him and also lets me pass the assessment!" Nian Jinsui said, overjoyed.

[Reminder: Based on the current storyline, there is a possibility that the host may regret this method in the future. Please consider carefully.]

Nian Jinsui looked doubtful. "Once I’ve trained Qin Chengyu to be strong, he’ll be able to protect me if we run into danger. How could I regret that? How did you calculate that I'd regret it?"

[The process of system simulation is a trade secret and cannot be disclosed or explained.]

"Tsk, obviously you just made a mistake and don’t want to admit it."

Nian Jinsui didn’t take Xilu's words to heart, fully immersed in his own sense of achievement at coming up with a good plan.

Meanwhile, Qin Chengyu was examining Nian Jinsui's thin arms and legs, and asked to confirm, "Jinsui, did you say you’re going to be my fitness coach?"

Sensing the doubt in Qin Chengyu's voice, Nian Jinsui retorted, "Don’t underestimate me! I can handle these dumbbells with ease!"

To prove his strength, Nian Jinsui took a deep breath, reached out with his right hand, and grabbed the dumbbell, attempting to lift it.

Seeing how confident Nian Jinsui looked, Qin Chengyu hesitated for a moment and didn’t manage to stop him in time.

The next second, a scream echoed.

"Oww!"

Nian Jinsui sat dejectedly on the sofa as Qin Chengyu rubbed his wrist with medicinal wine.

He used to be a strong Alpha who could wave dumbbells with ease. But ever since he crossed over to this new world, he’d become a frail Omega who couldn't even lift a dumbbell without spraining his wrist?

Who could endure such a huge contrast?

It was a nightmare even for a crocodile.

"Jinsui, don’t lift heavy objects for a while," Qin Chengyu advised.

"My foot isn’t even fully healed yet, and now my wrist is sprained too. Just my luck—truly the epitome of bad luck," Nian Jinsui complained gloomily.

"It’s just a sprain. It’ll be better in a week."

"Once I’ve fully recovered, we’ll train together. I’ve had Uncle Liu check and upgrade all the gym equipment. Just a heads-up, I’ll be supervising you strictly, so don’t even think about slacking off," Nian Jinsui said, deliberately serious.

"Okay," Qin Chengyu nodded without resistance. In fact, he had been considering this recently as well.

The incident with Qin Chengluo pushing him to the ground and almost marking Nian Jinsui had been weighing on his mind, and with Nian Jinsui mentioning that he was too skinny twice, Qin Chengyu also started thinking about working out.

But he often had to stay by Nian Jinsui's side, leaving him with little time for independent training, and he didn’t want to sacrifice time spent with Nian Jinsui.

Fortunately, now everything had worked itself out. Since Nian Jinsui offered to be his trainer, it meant that Nian Jinsui would be by his side during workouts.

It was the best of both worlds.

After the massage, Nian Jinsui withdrew his hand and took out his phone, sending a document to Qin Chengyu.

"This is the fitness plan I made for you, starting at the beginner level. From Monday to Friday, you’ll run for 30 minutes in the morning, an hour in the afternoon, and do 50 push-ups in the evening, along with an hour of equipment training. On weekends, we’ll double all that. As for diet, the kitchen will prepare a special meal plan for you, and you’ll need to take protein powder as well..." Nian Jinsui rattled on.

"Okay," Qin Chengyu agreed without hesitation.

Seeing Qin Chengyu being so cooperative, Nian Jinsui felt pleased. "Since you’re being so obedient, tomorrow’s your first day, so you don’t need to run in the morning. You can sleep in."

Obedient?

Qin Chengyu's eyes shifted slightly. It was the first time he had heard Nian Jinsui describe him this way.

He couldn’t quite place what he felt—just a slight itchiness in his throat, as if a soft feather were tickling his heart.

Qin Chengyu’s throat moved involuntarily, and after a moment, he replied, "Okay."

The next morning, when Nian Jinsui came downstairs, still drowsy, he found Qin Chengyu already sitting at the dining table.

“Morning,” Nian Jinsui yawned and greeted Qin Chengyu.

Butler Liu smiled and shared, “Young Master, today Young Master Qin got up early and went for a run.”

“Hm?” Nian Jinsui's eyes lit up, “Didn’t I say you could skip it this morning?”

“I woke up early anyway, so I figured I’d just go for a run,” Qin Chengyu stood up and pulled out a chair for Nian Jinsui. “Let’s have breakfast first, Jinsui.”

Nian Jinsui felt pleased, “What a good student! You get a thumbs-up from me!”

Later in the afternoon after class, Qin Chengyu initially planned to have Nian Jinsui head home while he stayed at the academy’s track to run a few laps before returning himself.

But Nian Jinsui refused. “I’m your fitness coach now, so I obviously have to supervise your training.”

And so, the two of them headed directly to the Nian family’s residence.

“Jinsui, I’ll run on the treadmill. You can sit beside me and watch,” Qin Chengyu suggested.

“Nope. Running on a treadmill is monotonous and not ideal for beginners. We need to run outdoors first to build enthusiasm,” Nian Jinsui insisted. “We’ll go to the greenway nearby.”

Once they arrived at the greenway, Qin Chengyu suggested again, “Jinsui, why don’t you sit here and wait for me? I’ll be back soon.”

“No way!” Nian Jinsui took on the demeanor of a fitness trainer. “Don’t rush while running. I need to be there to guide your breathing and pace.”
