Chapter 54 Once Again, Enthusiasm Meets Cold Shoulders

Qin Cheng yu looked down at his own body.

He thought to himself that he indeed needed to become stronger—

only then could he better protect Nian Jin sui.

By the time Qin Cheng yu emerged from the fitting room in his formal attire,

Nian Jin sui had already finished putting on his own tie and had even picked one out for Qin Cheng yu.

Seeing Qin Cheng yu in a suit for the first time, Nian Jin sui’s eyes lit up.

He couldn’t hold back his praise:

“Cheng yu, you look amazing! Suits really suit you; it fits perfectly.”

A hint of delight flickered in Qin Cheng yu’s eyes as he watched Nian Jin sui approach him.

“What do you think of this tie? I feel like it matches your outfit quite well.”

Qin Cheng yu replied without hesitation,

“It looks great.”

As long as Nian Jin sui picked it, it was bound to look great.

“Then wear it.”

Nian Jin sui handed him the tie.

“Do you know how to tie a tie?”

Qin Cheng yu thought for a moment.

Although he’d never tried, it shouldn’t be too hard.

But when he met Nian Jin sui’s gaze, an idea came to him.

He shook his head.

“I don’t know.”

The store assistant was just about to offer help when she felt a sharp,

cold glance sweep over her, silencing her immediately.

“Then let me help you,”

Nian Jin sui said cheerfully.

“I used to have to wear suits for orchestra performances all the time.

Tying a tie is no big deal for me.”

“Thank you, Jin sui,”

Qin Cheng yu lowered his head slightly, perfectly hiding the faint smile that curled at the corners of his lips.

“Cheng yu, I never noticed how tall you are when I was in a wheelchair. Are you over 1.9 meters?”

Nian Jin sui asked as he stood on tiptoe to adjust Qin Cheng yu’s tie and collar.

“Probably not.”

Qin Cheng yu hadn’t measured his height in a long time and wasn’t entirely sure.

“You’re already half a head taller than me.”

Nian Jin sui suddenly felt nostalgic for his old height of 1.88 meters; now, he was under 1.8 meters.

“Jin sui, you’re perfect as you are now,”

Qin Cheng yu said seriously, gazing at Nian Jin sui’s delicate features.

“Well, I don’t have much choice but to accept it… Okay, all done. Cheng yu, we need to hurry; we still have to get our hair done.”

They quickly finished up, letting the assistant add cufflinks and a tie clip,

then left the store with their changed outfits in tow.

After they left, one of the assistants couldn’t help but gossip.

“From what I overheard, this Second Young Master Qin seems pretty pitiful.”

The assistant who had tried to help earlier retorted,

“Did you see the look he gave me earlier? It was terrifying! I don’t think he’s someone who gets pushed around easily.”

The Imperial Capital Building

The Chu family’s celebration banquet was a grand affair, attended by prominent figures in the business world.

However, Nian Jin sui immediately became the center of attention upon his arrival.

After all, who wouldn’t be drawn to a beauty?

Nian Jin sui’s looks and charisma ensured he was the focus no matter where he went.

In the past, Nian Jin sui favored cute, curly hairstyles.

Now, he preferred natural straight hair.

Tonight, he sported a side-parted, layered look that perfectly complemented his silver-white suit, exuding elegance, sophistication, and effortless charm.

Beside Nian Jin sui, Qin Cheng yu also garnered attention that should have belonged to Nian Jin sui alone.

Qin Cheng yu, typically sporting a natural, tousled look reminiscent of a college student,

had styled his hair to match his suit tonight.

Though unexpected, it suited him well.

With his sharp features and cool demeanor, rarely showing a smile,

Qin Cheng yu’s formal look gave off the vibe of a domineering CEO.

While Nian Jin sui was a familiar figure in the Imperial Capital, known by all,

Qin Cheng yu’s low profile meant that most attendees had no idea who he was, sparking murmurs of curiosity.

“Who’s that beside Young Master Nian? I’ve never seen him before.”

“Me neither. He’s so elegant—could he be the son of some prominent family who just returned to the country?”

Guests exchanged glances, but no one had a definitive answer.

“Jin sui, why did you bring him? Didn’t I say one invitation is for one person only?”

Chu He jun approached with a glass of champagne and asked.

Nian Jin sui took the champagne and handed it to Qin Cheng yu before replying,

“Do you think your little tricks can fool me? I don’t believe it!”

He wasn’t one to fall for such petty games.

Chu He jun grabbed another glass of champagne from a nearby tray and offered it to Nian Jin sui.

“I wasn’t trying to trick you. I just didn’t want Ye Kang tagging along. Try this champagne—it was specially flown in from France by Brother Ting for the guests.”

Nian Jin sui took a sip.

He wasn’t much of a wine connoisseur, but he found it quite pleasant.

He nodded.

“Not bad, pretty good.”

At that moment, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight illuminated the stage.

All eyes turned to the front.

Chu He ting stood under the spotlight, dressed in a tailored dark blue suit.

Radiating charm and confidence, he smiled slightly—just enough to be captivating without seeming excessive.

Standing in the spotlight, he appeared to be at the center of the world.

He was the star of the celebration banquet—and perhaps the star of the world itself.

But Nian Jin sui glanced at him briefly before looking away, uninterested in Chu He ting’s clichéd opening remarks.

Qin Cheng yu, however, kept his gaze fixed on Chu He ting.

As an Alpha and the future heir of the Chu family,

Chu He ting was flawless in appearance, status, and capability.

It wasn’t hard to understand why Nian Jin sui might like him.

Alpha… heir…

Qin Cheng yu’s narrow eyes darkened as he seemed lost in thought.

Nian Jin sui watched Chu He ting descend the stage and begin mingling with the guests.

At the same time, he received a notification from Xilü.

[Mission Alert: Please accompany Chu He ting and help him entertain guests until he asks you to leave.]

Nian Jin sui hesitated.

“But he doesn’t need me by his side. If I stick to him, won’t that just annoy him?”

[The host must remain enthusiastic and maintain the demeanor of Chu He ting’s partner. This mission is a role-playing scenario and will be graded. Please take it seriously.]

“Tch, I knew it. Another mission to raise Chu He ting’s dislike level. Fine, I’ll go all out and wrap this up quickly.”

Nian Jin sui looked at Qin Cheng yu.

“Cheng yu, just enjoy yourself tonight. Eat, drink, or chat with someone. We’ll go home together later.”

Not wanting Qin Cheng yu to witness the embarrassing task of

enthusiastically sticking to someone uninterested,”

Nian Jin sui quickly made arrangements.

After giving his instructions, he walked off toward Chu He ting with champagne in hand.

“Jin sui…”

Qin Cheng yu called out, but Nian Jin sui only raised his hand in acknowledgment without turning back.

“He’s definitely off to find my brother. What a shameless move,”

Chu He jun muttered, casting a glance at Qin Cheng yu.

“I’m not babysitting you either. Suit yourself.”
