Chu He Ting stared deeply at Ning Liang An,
hoping to see a flicker of longing or reluctance in his eyes.
He wished Ning Liang An would change his mind or crack a playful smile and say,
“I was just joking.”
But his hopes were dashed.
Chu He Ting withdrew his gaze, his voice hoarse.
“Alright. If you’ve made up your mind, I’ll keep my word and won’t bother you again.”
As he turned to leave, Ning Liang An suddenly called out,
“Young Master Chu…”
Chu He Ting’s eyes lit up with hope as he turned back, only to hear Ning Liang An say,
“Actually, Young Master Nian is a good person. You should cherish the one in front of you…”
The light in Chu He Ting’s eyes dimmed, replaced by a bitter laugh.
“If you don’t want me, that’s fine. But why push me toward someone else? Is my love so cheap to you?”
Ning Liang An lowered his long lashes.
“I’m sorry…”
“I cherish the one before me, but unfortunately… the one before me doesn’t cherish me.”
In the world of novels, nothing pairs better with heartbreak than a sudden rainstorm.
Two claps of thunder roared as rain poured down,
but Chu He Ting paid no mind, striding into the storm.
Watching his lonely figure fade into the rain,
Ning Liang An instinctively reached out a hand but ultimately didn’t call him back.
Instead, he turned and stepped into his house.
Leaning against the door, Ning Liang An felt his heart burning as if placed over a flame,
the heat rising to his eyes.
He might not be entirely indifferent to Chu He Ting…
That evening, Nian Jin Sui sat in his study, frowning at his textbook and homework.
“Never thought I’d have to do homework again after graduating years ago…”
Nian Jin Sui muttered.
“What is this even about? I don’t understand a thing…”
As someone who originally studied music, he had no background in international business.
Some questions were easy to Google, but others were impossible to find answers for online.
In theory, he didn’t have to do the homework.
His teachers wouldn’t fail him over it.
But the Nian Jin Sui of today had been a diligent student in his past life.
Shamelessly skipping homework didn’t sit well with him.
Still, copying someone else’s homework was always an option.
He scrolled through his contacts, only to realize most of them were drinking buddies.
None of them were particularly bright.
Maybe I should ask Ye Kang.
Just as he opened the chat with Ye Kang, he hesitated.
No.
Owing Ye Kang a favor would be dangerous.
If Ye Kang asked to use his card again, how could he confidently say no?
Besides, Ye Kang was a two-faced schemer.
Who knew what kind of gossip he’d spread behind his back?
Scrapping that idea, Nian Jin Sui quickly found a better candidate.
Why look far when he had a genius living under the same roof?
When Qin Cheng Yu arrived in the study, Nian Jin Sui eagerly waved him over.
“Qin Cheng Yu, come help me with these questions!”
Qin Cheng Yu was slightly surprised.
He hadn’t expected Nian Jin Sui to be so studious.
Could it be that his image of Nian Jin Sui as a lazy, spoiled heir was all an act?
Five minutes later, Qin Cheng Yu dismissed that thought.
Clearly, it wasn’t an act.
For the first time,
Qin Cheng Yu realized that someone’s eyes could simultaneously sparkle with ignorance and curiosity.
After explaining the problems, Qin Cheng Yu paused, waiting for a response.
Nian Jin Sui pursed his lips and hesitantly asked,
“I didn’t get it… Can you explain it again?”
For a moment, Qin Cheng Yu was speechless.
He briefly wondered if Nian Jin Sui was messing with him but then noticed the earnest expression on his face.
“Have you never studied these topics before?”
Qin Cheng Yu asked.
Embarrassed, Nian Jin Sui replied,
“Not really…”
Qin Cheng Yu fell silent.
Of course, he didn’t know the real reason behind Nian Jin Sui’s lack of knowledge.
He simply assumed Nian Jin Sui hadn’t taken his studies seriously in the past two years.
“Is it too late to start learning now?”
Nian Jin Sui asked, hoping for some encouragement.
He expected a typical motivational response like,
“It’s never too late to learn.”
Instead, Qin Cheng Yu bluntly replied:
“Yes.”
Nian Jin Sui was taken aback.
Qin Cheng Yu continued,
“I can tell you’re not interested in these subjects. You probably chose this major because of your family’s business. If you’re only cramming for exams, that’s fine. But if you don’t plan to use this knowledge in the future, you’ll forget it quickly. In that case, all this effort would be meaningless.”
Nian Jin Sui blinked.
While Qin Cheng Yu’s perspective was harsh, it was undeniably logical.
He lacked the talent and interest for business.
Besides, according to the novel’s plot, he wouldn’t be involved in the family business anyway.
Knowledge that didn’t serve a purpose wasn’t worth the effort—especially when his main priority was surviving in this world.
After a moment of reflection, Nian Jin Sui nodded.
“You’ve got a point…”
Leaning back in his chair, he casually added,
“In that case, you can just do my homework for me.”
Qin Cheng Yu was momentarily speechless.
After weighing the effort of doing the homework himself versus explaining it to Nian Jin Sui, he silently picked up the pen.
Relieved of responsibility, Nian Jin Sui spun his chair in delight.
“Phew, that was close! I almost became a straight-A student.”
Qin Cheng Yu:
You were never close.
Watching Qin Cheng Yu diligently write, Nian Jin Sui couldn’t help but marvel.
“How do you know so much about my courses? You’re in a different major.”
“Business management and international business share many overlapping concepts.”
Qin Cheng Yu’s explanation was succinct, but Nian Jin Sui knew he was a natural prodigy in business.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been named the Qin family’s heir in just a few months.
Curious, Nian Jin Sui asked,
“If you’re so brilliant, why aren’t you at the top of your class?”
Qin Cheng Yu’s pen paused briefly before he answered indifferently,
“I’m not that brilliant.”
Nian Jin Sui pondered.
Based on his abilities, Qin Cheng Yu should at least be among the top students.
Yet, in the academy, he seemed to keep a low profile.
What’s the story behind that?
