Chapter 29 "Such a Cute Omega"

Both of them finished showering and changed into their pajamas. Ning Liang An added,

“I’ll only wash the shirt I dirtied. I’m not responsible for the rest of your clothes.”

Chu He Ting was about to tell him there was no need to go through the trouble, but before he could speak, something startled him, causing him to yell out loud.

The sudden cry startled Ning Liang An, who immediately turned to look.

Following Chu He Ting’s gaze, he swiftly grabbed a slipper from the floor and threw it, hitting the target precisely.

“You, the grand Young Master Chu, are afraid of a cockroach?”

Ning Liang An said with a mix of surprise and disdain.

Embarrassed, Chu He Ting hurriedly explained,

“I’m not afraid… I just haven’t seen one before…”

“No problem. Since you’re sleeping on the floor tonight, the entire cockroach family will likely come to visit you. You’ll get used to it. Of course, you can still go home now if you want,”

Ning Liang An teased, intentionally trying to scare him.

Chu He Ting felt his scalp tingle but gritted his teeth and replied firmly,

“It’s just a cockroach. How could a grown man like me be afraid? To prove it, I’ll definitely stay the night!”

Despite Chu He Ting’s bravado, Ning Liang An noticed his forced composure and couldn’t help but find it amusing.

At the same time, he realized that Chu He Ting felt more human, more relatable.

Previously, Ning Liang An thought of Chu He Ting as someone from an entirely different world.

But now, he saw that beyond the identity and status, Chu He Ting was just an ordinary person—someone who could fear, love, and act a little childish. Someone who could persist and try for what he wanted.

It seemed that they weren’t so different after all.

Perhaps it was the medicine before bed or the fact that he didn’t have to wake up early for work, but Ning Liang An slept exceptionally well, waking naturally without an alarm.

However, when he got up and found himself alone in the room, his good mood quickly disappeared.

Where’s Chu He Ting?

He touched the blanket on the floor. It was cold, with no trace of warmth. Did Chu He Ting leave during the night?

Probably… After all, he’s so afraid of cockroaches.

Ning Liang An couldn’t quite put his finger on his feelings.

There was a strange dampness in his chest, like a wad of wet cotton clogging it.

“Ning Liang An, don’t be so dramatic. Weren’t you the one who said he could leave if he couldn’t stand it? So why are you upset now?” he muttered to himself.

He got up, washed up, and—despite not feeling hungry—busied himself with tidying the makeshift bed and doing laundry, as though keeping busy would help him forget something.

After hanging up the clothes, he found Chu He Ting’s shirt particularly eye-catching. Memories of the previous night resurfaced against his will.

Chu He Ting’s embrace was warm.

His pheromones smelled really nice.

Before he knew it, Ning Liang An found himself walking over to the shirt, leaning in to take a sniff.

Apart from the fresh scent of laundry detergent, there was still a faint trace of Chu He Ting’s smell.

It was comforting and intoxicating.

Snapping back to his senses, Ning Liang An berated himself for being foolish.

Am I out of my mind, sniffing Chu He Ting’s shirt?

He quickly rationalized it.

This is just a side effect of the temporary mark. It doesn’t mean anything.

At that moment, a knock on the door interrupted his thoughts.

His heart raced as he guessed who it might be.

Opening the door, he saw Chu He Ting standing there with bags in hand.

“What are you doing back here?”

Ning Liang An assumed that Chu He Ting had gone home to sleep and then returned, so he didn’t look pleased.

“Liang An, how long have you been awake? You didn’t wait too long, did you?”

Chu He Ting entered the room casually, carrying the bags inside.

Ning Liang An, feeling strange about the situation, didn’t stop him.

“Come on, eat breakfast,”

Chu He Ting said as he set the food on the table.

He then began putting fruits and other groceries into the fridge.

“My fridge can’t fit all this. Take it back,”

Ning Liang An said sternly.

“The fruits don’t need to go in. They’re fresh and can last for a while. Liang An, you’re still recovering and need vitamins and nutrients. Don’t be polite; just consider it my payment for staying here last night,”

Chu He Ting replied as he continued unpacking.

Ning Liang An grew even more annoyed.

“You didn’t even stay the whole night. What’s there to pay for?”

Chu He Ting froze.

“What do you mean I didn’t stay the whole night?”

Realization dawned on him.

“Liang An, did you think I left in the middle of the night?”

Ning Liang An’s confusion was evident. Could it be… he hadn’t?

Catching the puzzlement in Ning Liang An’s expression, Chu He Ting laughed.

“Liang An, didn’t you see my message? I went out this morning to buy groceries.”

Ning Liang An’s embarrassment hit him like a wave.

He hadn’t checked his phone all morning.

The timing couldn’t have been worse—just as he started wondering about Chu He Ting, the latter had returned.

“I’m hungry. Let’s eat,”

Ning Liang An said abruptly, changing the subject as he sat down to eat porridge.

Watching Ning Liang An’s flustered expression and reddened cheeks, Chu He Ting felt his heart soften.

How could such a cute Omega exist?

Just as Chu He Ting was about to say something, Ning Liang An burned his tongue on the porridge and winced in pain.

Chu He Ting, both worried and helpless, quickly poured him a glass of cool water.

“Liang An, slow down. Don’t rush.”

Ning Liang An took a big sip of water to soothe the pain, then glared at Chu He Ting in embarrassment.

“It’s your fault…” he mumbled, puffing his cheeks.

Though Chu He Ting couldn’t quite hear what Ning Liang An said, the accusatory look on his face was enough for him to guess.

But rather than getting upset, Chu He Ting smiled indulgently and gently ruffled Ning Liang An’s slightly messy hair.

“Alright, it’s all my fault.”

Their eyes met, and Ning Liang An felt a flicker of emotion stir within him.

Rationally, he knew Chu He Ting’s actions were overly familiar—they were barely friends at best.

But deep down, Ning Liang An couldn’t bring himself to dislike Chu He Ting.

So what does this feeling mean?
