Ch 2 : The Ge'er's Escape

With a mere lift of his hand, a document appeared in his grasp.  “Is this what you mean, Village Chief?” He handed the document over. The Village Chief reached out, took it, opened it, and examined it carefully.  “Exactly this.” After reviewing it, he returned the document to the man and turned to address the villagers, clarifying the man's identity.  “Ling Cang, from the capital. His family has been in trade for generations.” The Clan Leader nodded upon hearing this.  “If that's the case, then the young man may reside temporarily in Yunxi Village.” “Thank you very much then,”  Divine Emperor Ling Cang said with a smile, cupping his hands in thanks. His smile was like a warm spring breeze, dazzling everyone present. “Might there be any uninhabited houses in the village? I would like to purchase one,”  Ling Cang asked with a smile. Before entering the mortal realm, he had observed this area; the scenery was excellent and it seemed a good place for living and...

 "Stop Tempting Me"

Qin Zhiyan reached out to adjust Tang Keyi’s collar and asked,

"Where else would you like to go?"

"How about grabbing a drink?"

Tang Keyi suggested carefully.

"Craving alcohol?"

Qin Zhiyan pinched Tang Keyi’s cheek playfully.

Tang Keyi nodded.

"Then let’s go,"

Qin Zhiyan agreed, letting Tang Keyi decide everything.

To Tang Keyi’s surprise,

the bar Qin Zhiyan chose was one he’d never visited before.

"I used to come here often,"

Qin Zhiyan explained.

"Haven’t been back in years."

They sat at the bar,

and Qin Zhiyan asked the bartender to mix his old favorite drink.

"Why did you come here so much back then?"

Tang Keyi asked.

[Is it because there’s some beauty or hunk here?]

Qin Zhiyan tapped Tang Keyi’s forehead with his finger.

"Because the drinks here are genuinely good."

Tang Keyi pouted.

"I was just asking casually!"

Qin Zhiyan didn’t call out Tang Keyi’s jealousy.

As the bartender finished the drink, he said,

"Try it. Not sure if the flavor’s changed over the years."

Tang Keyi, somewhat of a connoisseur, took a sip.

"It’s really good."

Qin Zhiyan only tasted a little—

he didn’t want to need a designated driver on their first date.

He wanted it to be just the two of them.

Their striking looks and unfamiliar faces soon drew attention.

Though Tang Keyi was handsome,

he paled slightly next to Qin Zhiyan’s commanding presence.

A heavily made-up,

curvaceous woman sidled up to Qin Zhiyan and asked in a sugary voice,

"Handsome, could you buy me a drink?"

Qin Zhiyan didn’t glance at her,

instead watching Tang Keyi’s reaction with amusement.

The displeasure in Tang Keyi’s eyes delighted him.

Tang Keyi was annoyed.

[I’m so good-looking—why isn’t she hitting on me? Am I not as hot as Qin Zhiyan?]

Qin Zhiyan: …

Sometimes, he couldn’t follow Tang Keyi’s logic.

Of course,

Tang Keyi knew Qin Zhiyan wouldn’t be interested

in such a gaudy and tacky woman.

Why would he care?

Tang Keyi was confident—with him around,

Qin Zhiyan would never look at anyone else.

The woman, humiliated by Qin Zhiyan’s silence, turned to leave,

but the other handsome one stopped her.

"Don’t go, beauty. I’ll buy you a drink,"

Tang Keyi said with a smile.

The woman eyed Tang Keyi—less ruggedly masculine than Qin Zhiyan,

but still cute—and smirked.

"You’re much kinder, sweetie."

As Tang Keyi motioned to the bartender, Qin Zhiyan cut in coldly:

"You’re not buying her a drink."

The woman perked up, assuming the men were competing for her.

She wasn’t entirely wrong—they were fighting over her…

because Qin Zhiyan was jealous.

Ignoring Qin Zhiyan’s darkening expression, Tang Keyi teased,

"Why’d you only notice him? Am I not handsome enough?"

The woman diplomatically replied,

"You’re different types. But you look too young. Let me buy you a drink, little brother."

Tang Keyi grinned.

"Thanks, sis!"

Qin Zhiyan’s face turned stormy.

Tang Keyi’s smile at someone else grated on him.

He gripped Tang Keyi’s chin, forcing him to meet his gaze.

"You haven’t even finished the drink I bought you. Now you want one from someone else?"

The woman froze, eyes darting between them.

"Are you two… together?"

"Get lost,"

Qin Zhiyan growled.

She fled.

Tang Keyi laughed.

"You scared her off."

Qin Zhiyan tightened his grip.

"You were cuter when you were still afraid of me."

"Ow!"

Tang Keyi whined, grabbing Qin Zhiyan’s hand.

Qin Zhiyan scoffed. "Stop acting cute. I barely touched you."

Tang Keyi pulled Qin Zhiyan’s hand closer and whispered,

"Then I’ll only drink what gege buys me, okay?"

Qin Zhiyan’s pupils dilated.

"What did you call me?"

"You’re older. ‘Gege’ fits, right?"

Tang Keyi said innocently.

Qin Zhiyan suppressed a shiver.

"Stop teasing me."

Tang Keyi blinked.

[What did I even do?]

Exhausted,

Tang Keyi fell asleep in the car.

Qin Zhiyan parked outside the Tang residence,

debating whether to carry him inside.

Eventually, he snapped photos of Tang Keyi’s sleeping face.

Tang Keyi woke to find Qin Zhiyan on his phone.

"We’re here? Why didn’t you wake me?"

Qin Zhiyan ruffled his hair.

"You looked too peaceful."

Tang Keyi unbuckled his seatbelt.

"I’ll head in then."

"Mm."

He moved sluggishly, hesitating.

[He’s not even reluctant to see me go? Hmph!]

[No goodbye kiss?]

[He only kisses me when I’m asleep. Did he do it again earlier?]

[So sneaky.]

Qin Zhiyan rolled his eyes.

Was he really reduced to a sneaky kisser in Tang Keyi’s mind?

Time to fix that.

He stepped out of the car.

"Why’d you get out?"

Tang Keyi asked.
