Nian Jinsui asked, flustered.

"Suisui, you got all my clothes wet. I might as well take a bath too." 

Qin Chengyu tossed his shirt aside and started unbuttoning his pants.

Nian Jinsui stole a glance—Qin Chengyu’s physique was even more toned than before. Back then, he would’ve openly stared and even reached out to touch without hesitation. But now, just looking made him inexplicably shy.

"Fine, you wash then. I’m getting out."

Just as Nian Jinsui was about to stand up, he remembered he was completely naked. Not that Qin Chengyu hadn’t seen every inch of him already. But still, standing up boldly like this was… embarrassing.

While he was still hesitating, Qin Chengyu suddenly walked over and turned on the faucet above Nian Jinsui’s head. When Nian Jinsui looked up, he nearly got a faceful of something else.

"Wait for me, Suisui. I’ll add some hot water so it won’t be cold anymore."

Nian Jinsui’s face burned crimson. After all, this was the first time he and Qin Chengyu were this exposed to each other.

His little dragon hadn’t even gotten a proper goodbye, and now he was almost saying hello to someone else’s dragon. What a tragic story…

"Just grab me a robe. I won’t disturb your bath," Nian Jinsui muttered sullenly.

"Don’t go, Suisui. I want you to look."

"Look?! Look at what?! Oh, so you’ve got one and I don’t?! You think you’re so impressive?! Keep it to yourself! I’m not looking!"

Nian Jinsui shot up from the bathtub like a firecracker had gone off under him, all previous reservations forgotten. Wrapping himself haphazardly in a robe, he stormed out of the bathroom.

Didn’t Suisui used to love his abs and physique? Why is he angry now?

Ning Liang’an visited the Qin household again today, but this time he came alone. The moment he sat down, he eagerly said to Nian Jinsui:

"Jinsui, I heard there’s a charity auction in the capital next week. Father said he’s staying home with Dad, so he wants me and Chu Heting to go and get some exposure. You and Qin Chengyu should come too."

Nian Jinsui knew about this auction—it was mentioned in the novel. This was the event where Chu Heting and Ning Liang’an made their first public appearance as a couple, flaunting their affection and ruthlessly feeding everyone dog food.

In the original plot, Qin Chengyu did bring Nian Jinsui along, but with the sole intention of humiliating him.

Forcing the proud, vain Nian Jinsui to appear in front of everyone in such a state, then making him watch as his beloved Chu Heting doted on the real Nian family young master, Ning Liang’an…

Nian Jinsui had been so overwhelmed with fury that he nearly coughed up blood on the spot. After returning to the Qin residence, his health deteriorated even further.

Truly, Qin Chengyu had a talent for revenge.

"Jinsui, do you need to think about it this long? Just come with us," Ning Liang’an pulled Nian Jinsui out of his thoughts.

Snapping back to reality, Nian Jinsui silently rejoiced. Thankfully, both he and Qin Chengyu had avoided the fates written in the novel—all his scheming against the System hadn’t been in vain.

"I can’t decide alone. Chengyu’s really busy—I don’t even know if he has time."

Even though he had attended the auction in the novel, Qin Chengyu still hadn’t lifted his restrictions on Nian Jinsui’s outings. Plus, the System hadn’t issued any tasks, so Nian Jinsui didn’t dare agree recklessly.

Of course, there was another reason—Chu Heting would be there. To avoid sending Qin Chengyu into a frenzy, it was better not to stir up unnecessary trouble.

"Jinsui, you and Qin Chengyu are so close. If you say you want to go, would he really refuse?"

Nian Jinsui blinked. "How can you tell we’re close?"

"I don’t even need to look. The moment I stepped through the door, I could smell it—Jinsui, you’re drenched in an Alpha’s scent right now."

Ning Liang’an’s evasive gaze only deepened Nian Jinsui’s suspicion. "Really? If you don’t tell me the truth, I’m not going."

"Fine, fine! The truth is… yesterday, I went back to campus and overheard some classmates gossiping…"

"What did they say?"

"They said… ever since you married Qin Chengyu, you’ve disappeared. They’re convinced he’s locked you up and is abusing you. They said you used to treat him like a lackey, and now that he’s powerful, he’s definitely taking revenge. They even said our family gave you to him because you’re not blood-related—that we abandoned you… It was all really nasty…"
