Qin Chengyu watched Nian Jinsui's intoxicated little expression with soft eyes, full of indulgence. His Suisui was so easy to coax.
"Then, Suisui, call me 'gege' too, okay?"
"Huh?"
Nian Jinsui snapped back to reality, his gaze sweeping over Qin Chengyu.
The man’s eyes burned with anticipation, as if victory was already assured.
Annoyed, Nian Jinsui retorted,
"Didn’t you say that whatever you call someone in bed is just part of the fun? Then call me 'grandpa'—you remember what happened when you were poisoned, right? You were very enthusiastic about it back then."
Qin Chengyu’s face instantly darkened.
Seeing Qin Chengyu’s frustration, Nian Jinsui felt like he’d finally scored a point, and his mood improved considerably.
Qin Chengyu decided to change tactics.
He leaned in, pressing a trail of slow, lingering kisses along Nian Jinsui’s neck and earlobes, each one sending shivers down his spine.
At the same time, he murmured "gege" in a voice dripping with seduction.
Nian Jinsui couldn’t take it…
At this rate, if he didn’t give in to Qin Chengyu’s demands, there’d be no sleeping tonight.
"Alright, Qin Chengyu, that’s enough…"
Nian Jinsui turned his head away, his tone carrying a hint of surrender.
"What should Suisui call me? Hmm?"
Qin Chengyu coaxed, refusing to let up until he got the answer he wanted.
Nian Jinsui was a man—and had once been an Alpha—so he understood Qin Chengyu’s competitive drive and need to win.
Rather than dragging this out, it’d be better to just satisfy this small request and end the conversation so they could sleep.
"Yu-gege… goodnight…"
Embarrassment made Nian Jinsui’s voice soft and slightly trembling, like the mewl of a kitten.
The sound instantly darkened Qin Chengyu’s gaze.
I really want to…
Too flustered to look at Qin Chengyu, Nian Jinsui recalled how he’d been forced to call Chu Heting "Ting-gege" and say goodnight to him.
Back then, he’d been unwilling, finding it awkward and strange—but now, the feeling was entirely different.
The atmosphere, the setting, and the man behind him had wrapped those five simple words in an ambiguous, almost intimate haze.
It really did feel like… a little bit of fun.
Qin Chengyu watched Nian Jinsui’s flushed ears and neck, his adoration deepening.
He pressed close to Nian Jinsui’s nape, inhaling his scent, and murmured:
"Goodnight, wife."
In the blink of an eye, several days had passed since Nian Jinsui started living in the Qin household.
During dinner, he’d seen Qin Zhuo a few times. The man was exactly as Nian Jinsui had imagined—a stern, old-fashioned figure.
Qin Zhuo treated him with indifference, likely because he knew Nian Jinsui wasn’t the Nian family’s biological child.
Of course, Nian Jinsui only maintained basic courtesy toward him, with no intention of getting closer.
The thought of how Qin Zhuo had ignored Qin Chengyu for so many years left Nian Jinsui with no goodwill toward the old man.
Qin Zhuo preferred solitude and lived in a separate villa reserved exclusively for him.
Aside from dinner, they rarely crossed paths—something Nian Jinsui was perfectly fine with.
He also had a slightly unethical thought: In a few months, Qin Zhuo will suffer a stroke, and then I’ll see even less of him.
In the novel, Qin Chengyu had kept doctors tending to Qin Zhuo meticulously—just so the old man could remain lucid while watching the Qin family collapse.
Honestly, ever since reuniting with Qin Chengyu, their relationship had progressed at rocket speed.
The fact that they’d already been sharing a bed for days felt surreal to Nian Jinsui.
After their marriage registration, Qin Chengyu had shamelessly moved into their marital home, refusing to leave the bed every night.
Thankfully, he’d only been hugging and kissing Nian Jinsui lately, without any of the extreme behavior from that first night.
Nian Jinsui suddenly realized—Oh no, my standards have dropped.
He was half-accepting Qin Chengyu’s affections now…
When Nian Jinsui woke up that morning, the space beside him was empty and cold.
Glancing at the time—nearly 10 a.m.—he remembered that Qin Chengyu had work now and couldn’t laze around in bed like him.
Though they’d more or less reconciled, their lives could never return to how they’d been before.
The current Qin Chengyu didn’t have time to play games, work out, or build Legos with him.
Strangely, Nian Jinsui was starting to feel the reality of married life.
Even scarier—he was beginning to resemble a doting housewife, waiting for his husband to come home every day.
He’d be graduating soon.
He couldn’t just idle around forever.
After some serious thought, Nian Jinsui realized he had zero interest in his current major, International Business, and had no plans to pursue a related career.
Might as well go back to my roots.
Fortunately, in this world, he didn’t have to worry about making a living.
Maybe he could find a music school to further his studies.
After lunch, Nian Jinsui searched online for violin programs, researching the top music academies in this world.
It wasn’t until a servant informed him that he had visitors that he closed his laptop—making sure to clear his browsing history first.
The current Qin Chengyu was sensitive, suspicious, and moody.
If he found out, he’d definitely overthink things.
The visitors were Chu Heting and Ning Liangan.
Butler Wu ushered them in, muttering to himself,
"Why do members of the Chu family keep coming to the Qin estate these days? If word gets out, people might think the Qin and Chu families are close."
Nian Jinsui was thrilled to hear Ning Liangan had come to see him.
Since Qin Chengyu wouldn’t let him leave the Qin residence and he had no one to talk to, staying here had been boring.
As for Chu Heting…
Well, I’ll just ignore him.
"Jinsui, it’s only been a few days, but your face looks rounder! And your complexion is much better. Seems Qin Chengyu’s treating you well. That’s a relief."
Ning Liangan studied Nian Jinsui’s face intently.
"It’s not that exaggerated."
Nian Jinsui lowered his eyes, avoiding Ning Liangan’s scrutiny—though it was true that since reuniting with Qin Chengyu, he’d been eating well and sleeping soundly.
Ning Liangan smirked, half-teasing, half-curious.
"So, are you and Qin Chengyu still just roommates?"
"Yeah…"
Nian Jinsui nodded, but internally, he added:
Except it’s more like bunk beds—with no partition in between.
