Nian Jin Sui’s small movements didn’t escape Qin Chengyu’s eyes.
His gaze darkened, and with a meaningful tone, he said,
“Why bother with suppressants when I’m much more effective?”
“What?”
Nian Jin Sui didn’t understand at first, but in the next moment, his eyes widened in disbelief.
He could smell Qin Chengyu’s scent.
It was a smell that was subtly different from the scent Qin Chengyu usually carried.
Before, he’d only found Qin Chengyu’s scent pleasant, but now, the scent was inexplicably alluring.
Nian Jin Sui couldn’t quite describe the specific smell, but it was intoxicating, as though it held a magical power that could stir the calm waters inside him.
The more he inhaled it, the more addictive it became.
He felt an overwhelming urge to leap into Qin Chengyu’s embrace, to inhale deeply and lose himself in the sensation.
He even wanted Qin Chengyu to fill his body with that scent, to be consumed by it.
Suddenly, Nian Jin Sui came to his senses.
This was clearly the scent of Alpha pheromones!
His body’s reaction was so intense—it must be because it was a scent highly compatible with his own.
But how could this be?
Qin Chengyu was a Beta… wasn’t he?
Had he undergone secondary differentiation?
But that wasn’t in the novel...
How could something like this suddenly appear, something that didn’t exist in the original plot?
Some of the plot changes made sense, like Nian Yixin’s pregnancy, which could be traced back to him, but Qin Chengyu suddenly differentiating—why?
What was the reason for this new development?
Nian Jin Sui’s mind was a mess, and he couldn’t make sense of it. All he could do was stare at Qin Chengyu in shock, finally asking,
“Chengyu, you… you’ve become an Alpha?”
“Yeah, Jin Sui.”
Qin Chengyu studied Nian Jin Sui’s expression carefully.
When he saw that Nian Jin Sui was filled with shock but no happiness, his gaze darkened slightly.
Qin Chengyu couldn’t help but smile bitterly.
Whether he was an Alpha or a Beta didn’t really matter in Nian Jin Sui’s heart.
Even now that he was an Alpha and the head of the Qin family, he still couldn’t compare to Chu Heting in Nian Jin Sui’s eyes.
So what?
Qin Chengyu’s eyes became cold. From now on, Nian Jin Sui would be his.
Time was on his side.
He would eventually remove Chu Heting from Nian Jin Sui’s heart.
Nian Jin Sui belonged to him, and soon, his heart would be his as well.
“So, Jin Sui, let me bite you. Just a light bite, and you won’t feel uncomfortable anymore.”
Qin Chengyu’s voice was gentle, but his eyes were so direct and raw that Nian Jin Sui felt like a helpless little lamb being targeted by a beast, causing an involuntary chill to run down his spine.
The feeling was so strange. Nian Jin Sui chuckled awkwardly, trying to ease the tension.
“There’s no need for that… I’ll just take suppressants instead, or maybe I should just go home…”
As he said that, he tried to move past Qin Chengyu, but before he could, he felt a tight grip on his wrist.
In the next moment, Qin Chengyu’s presence was closing in from behind.
Nian Jin Sui’s body froze as he felt Qin Chengyu’s breath on the back of his neck.
His sensitive glands were dangerously close to being violated, and the sensation sent shivers down his spine.
His instinct made him instinctively shrink his neck, and anxiety filled his chest.
His body’s instinct told him that he liked Qin Chengyu’s scent, liked Qin Chengyu’s closeness, and even vaguely longed to be marked by him.
But Nian Jin Sui’s rational mind was still intact.
He had always treated Qin Chengyu like a younger brother.
How could he let Qin Chengyu mark him?
Their pure brotherly bond should never be tainted.
“Jin Sui,”
Qin Chengyu’s low voice whispered in his ear, the proximity making Nian Jin Sui tremble slightly.
“From now on, you’re going to stay here.”
The tone was so intimate and suggestive that Nian Jin Sui’s body involuntarily reacted to it.
Nian Jin Sui immediately realized that Qin Chengyu’s words carried deeper meaning.
He scowled, anger rising.
“What do you mean by that? Are you going to imprison me?”
The thought of the novel, where Qin Chengyu locked him up and tortured him, immediately flashed through Nian Jin Sui’s mind.
Fear shot through him, and he struggled, trying to break free from Qin Chengyu’s hold.
But Qin Chengyu’s grip tightened, and his other hand pressed firmly on Nian Jin Sui’s arm.
There was no way for him to escape.
Nian Jin Sui gritted his teeth, cursing inwardly.
This guy has such strength. Looks like he’s been working out since returning to the Qin family. I couldn’t even step foot in the gym back at home. Now that I think about it, every time I went in, I couldn’t stop thinking of Qin Chengyu, which made me feel guilty, and I couldn’t focus on exercising. I lost weight.
“Imprison? Jin Sui, that’s too harsh a word. I’m not tying you up or confiscating your phone. You’re free to call home and have someone come pick you up.”
Qin Chengyu noticed Nian Jin Sui’s resistance and hesitation. In order to show his sincerity, he slowly released his grip, his tone softening.
“I just want you to stay with me.”
Nian Jin Sui quickly stepped back from Qin Chengyu, eyeing him suspiciously.
The more he looked, the more unsettled he felt.
Qin Chengyu was truly a madman at heart.
He was the kind of person who, once set his sights on something, would not stop until he had it.
Now, Nian Jin Sui was realizing that it was nearly impossible to escape from him.
“Um… didn’t we agree that we’re getting married soon?”
Nian Jin Sui tried to pacify him,
“I’ll stay here later. I’ll go home today, but I’ll come back another time.”
Nian Jin Sui turned to leave, but when he tried to open the door to the study, he found it locked.
His hand twisted uselessly on the handle.
“Jin Sui, is once not enough? Why do you want to leave me again?”
Qin Chengyu’s voice had softened, but there was a trace of something dangerous in it as he walked slowly toward Nian Jin Sui.
What was he doing?
Wasn’t he just completing the mission?
Why did it feel like he was the one acting like the bad guy in a relationship?
But Nian Jin Sui knew Qin Chengyu had grown up starved for affection.
Though he appeared cold and distant on the surface, he was deeply sensitive and fragile inside.
His actions were probably a result of that unresolved need.
With a sigh, Nian Jin Sui relented. After all, he was about to stay at the Qin family’s home soon anyway.
A few more days wouldn’t matter.
Maybe if he stayed and kept Qin Chengyu calm, it wouldn’t be so bad.
“Fine, fine, I won’t leave. I’ll stay with you. Chengyu, I won’t go, but... I don’t feel well right now. Could you give me a suppressant?”
Hearing Nian Jin Sui’s response, Qin Chengyu’s expression softened, but his tone remained firm.
“I can’t give you one.”
Nian Jin Sui thought Qin Chengyu was still angry and was punishing him.
So, he apologized again, trying to plead.
“Chengyu, I was too harsh when I sent you back to the Qin family, I’m sorry. I was impulsive, and I understand why you’re upset with me. But you’ve seen how terrible my estrus cycles can be. It’s really hard for me to deal with. Can you please just let me take the suppressant first?”
