Qin Zhuo’s expression darkened.
Every time Qin Chenglu stood before him, he was meek and obedient—
yet this Qin Chengyu had repeatedly defied him, growing bolder by the day.
“Chengyu, this matter concerns the Qin family’s reputation. We must handle it carefully,”
Qin Zhuo said meaningfully.
“You’re still young. There are many things you should defer to your grandfather on.”
Qin Chengyu understood the veiled warning in his grandfather’s words, but he showed no intention of backing down.
“If Grandfather wants a Qin Group CEO who obeys without question, then he should choose Qin Chenglu instead.”
Qin Zhuo’s face flushed with anger, but just as he was about to snap,
Qin Chengyu calmly handed him a folder.
“Grandfather, this is my analysis report on Qin Group’s upcoming projects and future development strategies. Please take a look.”
The distraction worked. Qin Zhuo was curious whether Qin Chengyu’s business acumen matched his investment genius.
He took the folder and read carefully—soon, his furrowed brows smoothed in approval.
After a moment, Qin Zhuo closed the folder, his expression not just appeased but pleased.
“Good. I knew I didn’t choose the wrong successor. You’ve inherited my elite Alpha genes.”
He chuckled.
“As for your marriage partner… well, they’ll be with you for life. Choose whoever you like.”
A flicker of mockery passed through Qin Chengyu’s eyes at the first remark,
but he masked it perfectly, replying flatly,
“Thank you, Grandfather.”
“Chengyu, you lack a personal assistant. What about Luo Qiao? I trained him myself—he’s experienced and capable.”
The implication was clear:
Qin Zhuo had conceded on the marriage; now, Qin Chengyu couldn’t refuse this gift.
Chengyu smirked inwardly.
Fine.
A visible spy is better than a hidden one.
Besides, Luo Qiao was competent—having him around might actually be useful.
“Assistant Luo is indeed outstanding. Since Grandfather is willing to part with him, I gladly accept.”
Qin Zhuo nodded, somewhat mollified by this rare compliance.
But Chengyu’s mind was already elsewhere—marrying Nian Jinsui.
Would Jinsui agree?
If not… he’d just take him. Hide him away.
He had a hundred ways to make Jinsui his.
Jinsui’s birthday was coming soon.
Since he couldn’t celebrate with him… he’d gift himself.
Would Jinsui like that present?
The moment Nian Jinsui came downstairs, Ning Liangan rushed over, beaming.
“Jinsui! Happy birthday!”
“Happy birthday to you too.”
Jinsui smiled tiredly.
“Liang’an, you scared off my sleepiness.”
“Happy birthday, young masters!”
Butler Liu chimed in warmly.
“Thank you, Uncle Liu.”
From the living room, Nian Yixin glanced up from the TV.
“Jinsui, I’ve booked a private room. Tonight, the four of us will celebrate with French cuisine.”
“Liang’an, do you want to go?”
Jinsui’s tone was indifferent.
“Up to you. I’m fine either way.”
Nian Yixin frowned.
“It’s your birthday. We can skip a party, but at least let’s have a family dinner.”
Ever since Qin Chengyu returned to the Qin family, Jinsui had visibly wilted—
no more gym sessions, barely leaving his room.
Yixin’s heart ached seeing him thinner.
Maybe this outing would lift his spirits.
Reluctantly, Jinsui agreed. It had been a while since he’d dined out.
Since Lin Shuquan was at work, Jinsui, Yixin, and Liang’an arrived first. Shuquan joined them later.
“Shuquan, you’re late. Work issues?”
Yixin signaled the waiter to serve.
Lin Shuquan sat down, a cryptic smile playing on his lips.
“No. But something did happen… involving our family.”
“What?”
Shuquan’s gaze settled on Jinsui.
“Qin Zhuo and Chengyu came to see me today. They proposed a marriage alliance. Jinsui… what do you think?”
Jinsui froze.
He’d known this day would come—but not this soon.
In the original plot, Qin Chengyu had waited months after returning to the Qin family before proposing.
But then again, in that timeline, Qin Zhuo had spent months testing Chengyu before naming him heir.
Now, Chengyu had secured the Qin Group far quicker.
Of course the marriage plot would accelerate too.
Just then,
[System Notification: Host, please complete the plot mission: Marry Qin Chengyu.]
Jinsui questioned internally:
“Xilu, we’re not even of legal age yet?”
[Don’t worry, Host. In this world, you both meet the requirements.]
Jinsui mentally cursed.
Novel worlds really don’t play by real-world rules.
Though he’d braced himself, unease prickled under his skin.
Soon, he’d see Qin Chengyu again.
His pulse thudded.
In the original story, Chengyu had married Jinsui to imprison and torture him for revenge.
Now, history was repeating itself.
Had forcing Chengyu back to the Qin family made him hate Jinsui too?
Was this…
his revenge?
