Judging by Xiang Liumei’s age, her husband must have been at least 40 back then.
Could there really have been so many women eager to seduce an older man?
Most likely, her husband was a lecherous man who got what he deserved.
But that was irrelevant.
The grudge between Xiang Liumei and the Nian family had nothing to do with Ye kang;
all he needed to do was watch the drama unfold.
"Why are you telling me this secret?"
Ye kang asked, puzzled.
"I've carried this secret for 20 years. Every time I think about Lin Shuqian and Nian Yixin doting on a child that isn’t theirs, I feel exhilarated. But I’ve never been able to share this joy with anyone—it’s suffocating. Today, though, I saw the same hatred in your eyes for Nian Jinsui that I have for the Nian family. That’s why I chose to tell you."
Xiang Liumei exhaled deeply, her eyes glinting with satisfaction.
"Now that I’ve let it out, I finally feel at peace. Young Master Ye, with this secret, don’t you see? Nian Jinsui is at your mercy. The Nian family has plenty of money; have him give you some—it’s only fair to make Lin Shuqian and Nian Yixin atone for their sins."
Ye kang fell silent, deep in thought.
What he wanted wasn’t just money;
he wanted Nian Jinsui to fall into the mud, utterly ruined.
"When do you plan to reveal this secret?"
"I don’t know... The longer I keep it hidden, the more painful it will be when the truth comes out. As long as I’m alive, I’m willing to wait and see."
But that wouldn’t do for Ye kang.
He was eager to see Nian Jinsui’s downfall, to watch him lose everything as soon as possible.
Suddenly, a thought struck him.
"What about the real Young Master Nian? Who is he, and where is he now?"
"The real Young Master Nian..."
Xiang Liumei mused.
"He grew up in an orphanage, working hard to support himself. A few years ago, I heard he got into university. His name is... Ning Liang’an, I believe."
Ye kang’s smile instantly froze.
"What did you just say his name is?"
"Ning Liang’an. I think he got into Imperial University,"
Xiang Liumei replied with a snort.
"I didn’t expect the Nian bloodline to produce someone with decent academic ability."
Ye kang felt as if he’d been struck by lightning.
The revelation chilled him to the bone, leaving him utterly stunned.
Could this really be a coincidence?
Was the real Young Master Nian truly Ning Liang’an?
Desperately, Ye kang wanted to believe it was merely a case of identical names.
Perhaps the real Young Master Nian was someone else.
But he had already looked into Ning Liang’an before—he had indeed grown up as an orphan in a welfare institution.
Fate is cruel, isn’t it?
Ye kang thought bitterly.
As the pieces fell into place, Yekang’s thoughts churned rapidly.
Then, a more sinister plan began to take shape in his mind.
"The Nian family caused your husband’s death, didn’t they? Are you really going to let them off so easily?"
Xiang Liumei’s interest was piqued.
"What do you have in mind?"
Ye kang’s eyes darkened with malice.
"A life for a life. That’s the only way to settle this debt."
"You mean Ning Liang’an? But I don’t want to get caught for murder."
Xiang Liumei was cautious, not completely foolish.
"You won’t need to get your hands dirty. I’m talking about using someone else to do the job,"
Ye kang said, his voice calm and calculated.
"If Nian Jinsui learns that the real Young Master Nian is Ning Liang’an, what do you think he’ll do?"
"You mean to let Nian Jinsui handle Ning Liang’an himself?"
"Exactly. I know Nian Jinsui. He’s arrogant, ruthless, and self-centered. Once he finds out the truth, he’ll do anything to protect his position as the young master of the Nian family. He won’t spare Ning Liang’an."
Ye kang’s lips curled into a cold smile.
"And we can even demand hush money from Nian Jinsui in the meantime."
"But I still plan to reveal the truth to Lin Shuqian and Nian Yixin eventually,"
Xiang Liumei countered.
"That doesn’t matter. Even if we take his money, we can still expose everything later. What can he do to stop us?"
Ye kang sneered.
"Consider it a token of gratitude. Without you, Nian Jinsui wouldn’t have lived such a privileged life. He owes you this much. With the money, you can enjoy a comfortable retirement and leave a fortune behind for yourself. What do you think?"
Xiang Liumei’s smile widened.
"Are you suggesting we work together, Young Master Ye?"
"You heard my conversation with my mother earlier. I have a grudge against Nian Jinsui, and you have a grudge against the Nian family. Working together benefits us both. So, what do you say?"
Xiang Liumei’s eyes sparkled with greed.
"I don’t have children, but I wouldn’t mind improving my own life. Let’s go with your plan."
Ye kang’s excitement bubbled beneath the surface.
Once Nian Jinsui dealt with Ning Liang’an, he would immediately make the truth public.
When that day came, Nian Jinsui would lose everything—
his reputation, his family, and his position. He’d fall into the depths of despair.
And Ning Liang’an would no longer be in the picture, leaving Chu Heting all alone...
It would be perfect.
Lately, Nian Jinsui had been constantly checking his phone, worried about missing an important call.
He remembered from the novel that the nurse who had swapped him,
Xiang Liumei, had contacted him by phone.
Finally, one afternoon, an unfamiliar number appeared on his screen.
The moment he heard the voice on the other end, Nian Jinsui knew it was Xiang Liumei.
"Hello, Young Master Nian."
Nian Jinsui, who had been sitting in the living room, quickly scanned his surroundings.
Seeing no one paying attention to him, he nonchalantly walked toward the elevator.
But his odd behavior didn’t escape Qin Chengxu’s notice.
Nian Jinsui had never been so secretive about a phone call before.
Qin Chengxu had also noticed his recent restlessness.
Qin Chengxu’s gaze followed Nian Jinsui until he disappeared from view.
Lowering his long lashes, he seemed deep in thought.
"Who is this?"
Nian Jinsui asked, masking his emotions.
"I have a secret to tell you. You’re not the biological son of the Nian family. Don’t believe me? Go get a DNA test. I’ll give you one week. If you don’t contact me by then, I’ll expose everything online and ruin you."
Nian Jinsui listened calmly as Xiang Liumei rattled off her threats.
When she finally paused,
he replied,
"Let’s cut to the chase. What do you want?"
Caught off guard by his straightforwardness,
Xiang Liumei hesitated before answering,
"I’ll send you an address. Meet me there tonight at 8. We’ll talk in person."
"Alright,"
Nian Jinsui said before ending the call.
