Chapter 63 Hero Saves the Beauty

"Hey! Open the door!"

Ning Liang’an frantically grabbed at the latch on the locked door.

Unfortunately, it was too late; something seemed to have jammed the door from outside, making it impossible to open.

Hearing footsteps receding into the distance, Ning Liang’an panicked. He shouted a few more times, but no one responded.

Trying to calm himself, Ning Liang’an immediately took out his phone and attempted to make a call. However, there was no signal. Left with no other choice, he turned on his flashlight to survey his surroundings.

The storage room held none of the stage decorations the classmate had mentioned. Instead, it was filled with old, unused sports equipment.

Suddenly, Ning Liang’an caught a whiff of an odd, sweet fragrance. Shining his flashlight around, he discovered something resembling an incense diffuser placed in the corner.

Why would such a thing be in the storage room?

Feeling uneasy, Ning Liang’an moved to cover the object with something. However, a strange heat surged through his body, causing him to freeze.

This feeling was not unfamiliar, but it wasn’t supposed to happen at this time.

Realization struck him like a bolt of lightning.

That diffuser-like thing—it must be an inducing agent.

Half an hour later.

Chu Hejun was lounging backstage, scrolling through his phone without the slightest hint of pre-performance nerves. He glanced at the time and then around the room. With only two acts before his, he found it odd that Ning Liang’an was nowhere to be seen.

He dialed Ning Liang’an’s number, but the call didn’t connect.

Just as he began to sense something amiss, Ye Kang rushed over, looking anxious.

"Second Young Master Chu, I have something to tell you. It’s about Ning Liang’an."

Chu Hejun narrowed his eyes. "Do you know where he is?"

"Yes…" Ye Kang nodded hesitantly. "But, Second Young Master, I hope you won’t tell anyone it was me who told you."

Chu Hejun didn’t answer directly, only asking, "What happened?"

"Second Young Master, didn’t you tell me before that if Young Master Nian bullied Ning Liang’an again, I should come to you? I really don’t want to cross Young Master Nian, but if you promise to keep this a secret, I’ll tell you what happened."

Chu Hejun scrutinized Ye Kang carefully before nodding. "Fine. I promise not to tell anyone it was you. Now, speak."

"I saw Young Master Nian have someone trick Ning Liang’an into the warehouse and lock him inside. Second Young Master, you need to save him!"

Chu Hejun was taken aback. He’d grown familiar with Nian Jinsui and couldn’t imagine him doing something like that.

Ye Kang pressed on anxiously. "Second Young Master, you have to believe me! I saw it with my own eyes! If you don’t believe me, try calling Ning Liang’an—there’s no signal in the warehouse, so his phone won’t connect. Who knows if Young Master Nian arranged for someone to bully him there? Please hurry and save him!"

Concern flickered across Chu Hejun’s face. "Alright, I understand. You can leave now."

"Just remember to keep it a secret, Second Young Master," Ye Kang insisted. Seeing that Chu Hejun wasn’t moving, he hesitated. "Why aren’t you going to save Ning Liang’an?"

"Don’t worry. I’ll handle things here and then go. Outsiders aren’t allowed backstage, so you should leave," Chu Hejun said impatiently, waving him off.

Reluctantly, Ye Kang left, biting his tongue.

Chu Hejun didn’t fully trust Ye Kang’s account, but he knew Ning Liang’an was too responsible to vanish right before a performance. His absence indicated something was wrong.

In the original novel, upon hearing such news, Chu Hejun, overwhelmed by concern, had rushed to rescue Ning Liang’an from the warehouse.

However, the current Chu Hejun harbored no feelings beyond friendship for Ning Liang’an. Knowing he was likely in trouble, he decided to give this heroic moment to Chu Heting instead.

Besides, with his performance coming up, Chu Hejun couldn’t abandon his responsibilities.

After some thought, he called Chu Heting, urging him to go to the warehouse immediately to save Ning Liang’an.

Meanwhile, Ye Kang, loitering near the auditorium entrance, kept an eye out for Chu Hejun. To his surprise, it was Chu Heting, not Chu Hejun, who strode briskly toward the warehouse.

Ye Kang’s expression shifted. Chu Hejun was supposed to rescue Ning Liang’an.

He had placed a potent inducing agent and a lure in the storage room. Ning Liang’an was undoubtedly affected by now. If Chu Hejun, an Alpha, entered the room and succumbed to the Omega pheromones, he wouldn’t be able to resist marking Ning Liang’an for life. That would effectively sever any chance of Ning Liang’an being with Chu Heting.

He’d also instructed the accomplice who locked Ning Liang’an in the storage room to pin everything on Nian Jinsui if questioned. As far as most classmates were concerned, Ye Kang was Nian Jinsui’s lackey, and no one would dare disobey him.

This way, all blame would fall on Nian Jinsui, making him a scapegoat. Even if Ye Kang were implicated, he could play the victim who acted under duress.

Everything should have been foolproof. So why was Chu Heting the one heading to the warehouse?

Realizing the potential consequences, Ye Kang’s heart sank. If Chu Heting ended up marking Ning Liang’an instead, it would backfire horribly. He had to stop it.

Chu Heting arrived at the warehouse, calling out urgently for Ning Liang’an as he searched.

Inside the storage room, Ning Liang’an heard the familiar voice and banged on the door. "Young Master Chu! I’m in the storage room!"

Following the voice, Chu Heting found the door and removed the wooden plank jamming the handle, finally opening it.

"Liang’an, are you alright?" Chu Heting asked as he stepped inside, but the overwhelming scent in the air immediately assaulted his senses, making it hard to stay composed.

"Young Master Chu…"

Ning Liang’an’s body burned with heat, his legs giving out as he stumbled forward,

collapsing into Chu Heting’s arms.
