Hearing Xilü's reminder, Nian Jinsui sneered disdainfully.
It was already enough that he didn’t join in on badmouthing Chu He ting
was he now expected to defend him too?
“Nian Jinsui.”
Nian Jinsui was so shocked that he almost couldn’t believe his ears.
Qin Chengluo had no such intentions toward Nian Jinsui.
And where did Qin Chengluo get this unfounded confidence from?
How could he even have the audacity to say he was comparable to Chu Heting?
Even Qin Chengyu’s gaze flickered with surprise, though his reaction leaned more toward disdain.
Qin Chengluo’s delusional aspirations were laughable, and his gaze toward him grew colder.
Qin Chengluo crossed his legs and spoke eloquently.
“Yes, I admit Chu Heting is excellent, but I’m not any worse. In terms of status, he’s the future head of the Chu family, and I’m the heir to the Qin family. He’s an Alpha, and so am I. As for looks, we’re evenly matched. Nian Jinsui, I’m serious. You should give it some thought.”

Qin Chengluo wiggled his eyebrows teasingly at him.
“What do you think about me? In terms of family background and status, I’m no worse than Chu He ting. In fact, across the entire capital, only I can be compared to him. More importantly, I’m much better at taking care of people than he is.”
“What? You?”
Did he hear that right? This wasn’t in the novel at all! In the original story,
Hearing Xilü’s words, Nian Jinsui burst out laughing.
Even the system recognized that comparing Qin Chengluo to Chu Heting was an insult to Chu Heting
how could Qin Chengluo himself lack such self-awareness?
“Nian Jinsui, what are you laughing at?”
Qin Chengluo’s gaze darkened.
Nian Jinsui looked up and met his gaze.
Since that was the case, he decided to fully embrace his character setting.
“Qin Chengluo, let me ask you: who gave you this confidence? Chu Heting is already part of the Chu family’s management. What about you? How many times have you even stepped into the Qin Corporation’s doors? Chairman Qin has never said you’re the heir to the Qin family. And as for looks, you should find a puddle to see your reflection. With your appearance, how dare you say you’re on par with Chu Heting? Does the word ‘self-awareness’ even exist in your vocabulary?”
“You! You…”
Qin Chengluo, who had never been so bluntly scolded in his life, turned pale with anger.
His lips trembled, but he couldn’t come up with a retort and could only glare at Nian Jinsui furiously.
Meanwhile, Qin Chengyu, seeing Qin Chengluo rendered speechless,
didn’t look pleased.
Instead, he found Nian Jinsui’s words oddly grating.
Was Chu Heting really that important to Nian Jinsui?
After finishing his tirade, Nian Jinsui didn’t feel much satisfaction.
On the contrary, he grew increasingly irritable and overheated.
“What kind of lousy place is this? The air conditioning isn’t even on.”
Nian Jinsui stood up, fanning himself with his collar.
“Qin Chengluo, I’ve said enough. I’m not wasting any more time with you. I’m taking Qin Chengyu with me right now. And let me warn you—stay away from him. Now that he’s under my family’s protection, hitting him is like hitting me! If it happens again, I’ll be sure to have a good chat with Chairman Qin!”
However, Qin Chengluo seemed unmoved by Nian Jinsui’s words.
Instead, his gaze fixed intently on Nian Jinsui’s movements.
Suddenly, he sniffed the air deeply.
“Qin Chengluo, did you hear me?”
Nian Jinsui asked impatiently.
At this point, Qin Chengluo stepped forward with a sly grin.
Something seemed to have captivated him, as his gaze grew lewd.
“Nian Jinsui, I didn’t expect your pheromones to smell so good. I’m almost losing control.”
Meeting Qin Chengluo’s gaze, Nian Jinsui felt a wave of disgust wash over him.
He quickly realized something.
Was he entering his heat period?!
This wasn’t Nian Jinsui’s first heat since arriving in this world.
Previously, during a medical checkup, the doctor had detected a rise in his pheromones and, with his consent, administered a suppressant.
As a result, he hadn’t felt much during that cycle.
This time, however, he could clearly feel the restlessness and discomfort bubbling up from within, making him swallow hard.
Hearing Qin Chengluo’s comment, Qin Chengyu finally understood, though his Beta senses meant he couldn’t detect pheromones.
Nian Jinsui’s expression hardened.
He needed to leave immediately! Even though Qin Chengluo had a glandular defect, he was still an Alpha.
If something happened by accident, Nian Jinsui would regret it for the rest of his life.
“Chengyu, we’re leaving!”
Nian Jinsui turned to leave, but Qin Chengluo stretched out a hand to block his way.
Fortunately, Qin Chengyu stepped forward and shielded Nian Jinsui behind him.
“Qin Chengyu, if you help me fully mark Nian Jinsui today, I’ll immediately talk to my grandfather about bringing you back into the Qin family. You’ll be the second young master again, and I’ll make sure you’re well taken care of. How about it?”
Qin Chengyu didn’t respond.
Instead, he adjusted his stance, completely shielding Nian Jinsui from Qin Chengluo’s view.
His eyes showed blatant contempt, as if looking at something filthy.
Standing so close to Qin Chengyu, Nian Jinsui momentarily lost focus—not just because of Qin Chengyu’s protective stance, but also because his scent was inexplicably pleasant.
It was clean and refreshing, soothing Nian Jinsui’s discomfort.
Unable to resist, Nian Jinsui subtly sniffed the air, feeling puzzled.
Qin Chengyu was a Beta and shouldn’t emit pheromones.
Perhaps it was just the scent of his body wash?
Biting the inside of his cheek to snap himself out of it, Nian Jinsui redirected his glare at Qin Chengluo and spat,
“Ha! Mark me? You’re ugly, but your imagination sure is vivid.”
“Nian Jinsui, stop being stubborn. You’re clearly in discomfort right now. I’m an Alpha—I can help you,”
Qin Chengluo said, his grin growing more audacious as his lascivious gaze roamed over Nian Jinsui.
Fighting through his discomfort, Nian Jinsui sneered.
“I normally don’t go for personal attacks, but maybe you should fix your glandular defect first before calling yourself an Alpha!”
Nian Jin sui, once an Alpha himself, understood the pain of glandular defects.
He usually refrained from using it as an insult, but for someone as conceited as Qin Chengluo, he couldn’t muster any sympathy.
Qin Chengluo’s face twisted with rage at the mention of his incomplete Alpha glands.
To prove himself, he began releasing his pheromones.
“Nian Jinsui, don’t blame me if you lose control and beg me to mark you.”
A strange stench wafted through the air. Realizing what it was, Nian Jinsui immediately fired back.
“Qin Chengluo, don’t tell me that’s your pheromones. That sour, rancid smell is revolting. I won’t lose control—I might lose my dinner!”
With a snide laugh, he added,
“And besides… do you even have the ability to mark someone with your incomplete glands?”
