MSRBMH Ch 55
Su Yan was so angry she didn't want to say a word. After handing over the things, she tried to close the door and see him out.
Su Yu was shut out, the door slamming shut behind him with a bang, lingering resentment.
He carefully placed the paper in his inner pocket.
The noise downstairs had stopped sometime earlier, and it was unusually quiet now.
Su Yu went downstairs step by step, only to see a panting woman sitting on the sofa, while Su Zhaofeng's neat shirt was torn to shreds.
Sometimes he was quite curious. Could
a man who had cheated really be so dependent?
And Su Zhaofeng could actually stay at home and still couldn't resist going out to have affairs. This ridiculous relationship was actually called love.
Seeing him come down, the woman's chest heaved again, her face flushed. Her gaze swept over him, landing on his empty hands.
Su Zhaofeng was also particularly irritable because of what had happened today.
"Why didn't you say you were coming back? Do you think the Su family is a place you can come and go as you please!"
He was eager to derive the thrill of power from him.
Su Yu was unusually calm at this moment. He used to feign innocence and joke around, but now he felt incredibly relaxed.
"Dad, sorry to bother you. Auntie, sorry to bother you."
He left the Su family home with the only thing he cared about in this family.
There was nothing left for him here.
It took him ten minutes to walk from the Su family home to the nearest small park.
It was still noon, and there weren't many pedestrians.
He took out the letter that had been in his pocket for a long time. It was thin and not heavy.
Su Yu's hands trembled slightly as he carefully tore off the already flimsy tape, leaving a faint trace of glue at the seal.
The letter had been there for who knows how long, and it was already yellowed.
The paper trembled slightly, revealing three neat lines of writing:
—Mom has done many things wrong to you, but perhaps you won't even think of me. We spent far too little time together.
"What will your name be? Your father promised to take good care of you, but I don't quite believe it.
" Su Yu glanced at the last line: "Mom hopes you are free, and that your birthday will be the start of your new life. Even if you don't stay in the Su family, it's okay."
The envelope in her hand felt somewhat heavy. She rubbed it between her fingers; it contained a card-like object.
[I know! I know! This is the million yuan Mom left for Su Yu, baby, sob sob.]
[Even though Mom abandoned him, she still loves you, baby… Wasn't this card found and kept by Su Yan?]
[Oh my god, this is the first time it's ended up in Su Yu's hands. Returning it to its rightful owner makes me feel a little better.]
[Sigh, Mom didn't have it easy… She saved up all her life as a minor celebrity, and only had this much when she died.]
Realizing what it was, his eyes trembled violently.
It was a small blue card, a bank card. Besides this simple yet heavy apology, she had left her son with one last bit of security.
Su Yu felt a pang of sadness, put the letter back in the envelope and into his pocket. When he stood up, his expression had returned to normal. "
He's gone, so why apologize?"
He silently replied to himself.
Su Yu, his name was Su Yu. "
You know Dad very well, but you don't know me very well. I don't blame you at all."
He casually invited Shen Le and Lin Yanjun to the bar. Hearing that he wasn't feeling well, the two of them, avoiding their fathers, rushed over to keep their appointment.
Su Yu had reserved the same semi-circular booth as last time. He hadn't been sitting for long when he looked up and saw two tall men rushing towards him.
Shen Le was wearing a white hoodie today, looking like a college student.
Seeing Su Yu, the two quickened their pace and plopped down in the booth. Shen Le, panting heavily, reached for the water on the table and drank it all in one gulp.
“Damn, you wouldn’t believe it, I wasn’t even planning to go out today. My old man knows I’ve been out playing every day lately, so he’s going to lock me up for three days to learn company affairs.”
Lin Yanjun echoed, “Mine’s the same.”
Compared to Shen Le, he seemed much calmer.
Su Yu glanced at his suit: “You’re doing pretty well, aren’t you? You have that pretentious air about you, just like Ji Yanli.”
“So what’s the rush to see us today?”
Shen Le finally caught his breath.
Before they could speak, a clear voice interrupted them: “Gentlemen, would you like something?”
It was the waiter who looked quite like Song Yanchu last time, now wearing a white uniform, and his demeanor looked even more like him.
Su Yu had no interest and casually said, “Just three drinks, please.”
After the waiter left, he leaned back in his soft chair, his voice flat: “I got the keepsake my mother left me from Su Yan.”
The two fell silent, neither daring to speak first.
Seeing the two men fall silent, Su Yu finally lifted his eyelids to glance at them. One looked shocked, while the other hesitated.
"Why aren't you saying anything?"
Lin Yanjun carefully chose his words. "Brother Su... don't be too sad."
"Hello, drinks for everyone."
Serving drinks interrupted their conversation again. Su Yu casually picked up a glass from the table, swirled it, but didn't put it in his mouth.
"Yanzi, tell me, if someone leaves you a million before they leave, is it love or guilt?"
Shen Le immediately realized what he meant. He opened his mouth wide: "A million?!"
Realizing he had spoken too loudly, he lowered his voice.
"Brother Su, a million? Why would your mother be willing to stay with your father if she had that much money?"
Although they all knew that Su Zhaofeng had intentionally lied to her first, saying he was single, without a wife or children, she had later willingly given birth to a child for him.
"Who knows? Because of love, I guess."
Su Yu didn't know what love felt like either.
Lin Yanjun then answered the previous question: "Well, Brother Su, you see, don't you know the answer yourself?"
Su Yu smiled, tilted his head back, and downed the wine in his glass in one gulp, no longer discussing the matter.
After the two of them had been drinking for a while, Lin Yanjun finally spoke.
"Brother Su, now that you have a million, you shouldn't need to be Ji Yanli's assistant anymore. You can do something."
Shen Le exclaimed, "Huh?" Her voice was clear and foolish: "Why? Aren't I doing a great job? Just save the million for now. Ji Yanli buys me meals and drives me around; isn't this like having a live-in maid delivered to my door?"
Su Yu sneered at this, adding sarcastically, "Yeah, he even does my laundry."
The naive and innocent Shen Le didn't grasp the precise meaning of his words. He stared intently at Su Yu, his expression serious, and placed his wine glass on the table, listing things out one by one.
"Brother Su, look, there might be many people who take your clothes off, but have any washed them for you?"
"Many people invite you to dinner tonight, but have any bought you lunch?"
"Many want to treat you to drinks, but have any taken care of you when you're drunk?"
