SDS: Chapter 67

"Feels Like I’ve Been Touched Everywhere"

[What's with this feeling of being touched all over?]

Qin Zhiyan thought to himself: Wrong. Not all over.

His gaze swept imperceptibly over Tang Keyi’s swim trunks, his tone laced with regret as he said, "Done."

Tang Keyi, sunscreen in hand, eagerly asked, "What about you? Want me to help you apply some?"

[If I don’t take this chance to get even, wouldn’t I be at a loss?]

Unfortunately, Qin Zhiyan didn’t play along. "I’m not swimming. And you don’t apply it evenly."

"Oh." Tang Keyi deflated, disappointment written all over his face.

Sitting in the private jet, Tang Keyi still felt a bit dazed.

"We’re going back already? Why does time feel like it flew by?" Tang Keyi tugged at Qin Zhiyan’s sleeve and asked.

Qin Zhiyan fastened Tang Keyi’s seatbelt for him. "Don’t want to go back? Work starts tomorrow."

These past few days, Tang Keyi had slept in, gone swimming and surfing with Qin Zhiyan, strolled through markets eating seafood, and walked along the beach at night with a beer in hand—he’d had so much fun that he couldn’t believe it was already time to leave.

He was reluctant to go.

[I wish we could stay longer.]

Qin Zhiyan signaled for a flight attendant to bring a blanket and draped it over Tang Keyi, soothing him softly, "We’ll come back next time, or go somewhere else. If you’re tired, sleep now."

Tang Keyi had woken up early for the flight and was already drowsy. Soon, he was asleep against the seat.

Qin Zhiyan reached over to tuck the blanket around him, just as Tang Kexing stood up to retrieve something from the overhead compartment and caught the gesture.

"I never expected President Qin to have such a gentle, attentive side."

"Honestly, I’m surprised too." Qin Zhiyan’s gaze remained fixed on Tang Keyi’s sleeping face.

"If you ever dare treat Xiao Wu poorly, the Tang family will never let you off. Even the Qin family won’t get away unscathed."

Qin Zhiyan looked up and met Tang Kexing’s eyes. "Don’t worry. That day will never come."

When Tang Keyi stepped out of the airport, bundled up tightly, the biting winter wind of the capital still managed to make him sneeze violently.

Qin Zhiyan reached over and pulled up the hood of Tang Keyi’s down jacket. "The Qin family car is here too. I won’t see you back to the Tang residence."

Tang Keyi nodded and followed Grandma Tang into the Tang family car.

"Don’t be late for work tomorrow," Qin Zhiyan reminded, leaning down to speak to Tang Keyi in the back seat.

"Yeah, yeah. Such a剥削人的资本家 (exploitative capitalist)," Tang Keyi grumbled.

Qin Zhiyan’s eyes softened as he closed the car door, watching Tang Keyi’s vehicle drive away.

The next morning, to his surprise, Qin Zhiyan didn’t see Tang Keyi at work.

He guessed that on the first day back after a holiday, Tang Keyi had probably slept in.

But by noon, Tang Keyi still hadn’t shown up.

Qin Zhiyan grew worried and immediately called Tang Keyi, only to have Grandma Tang answer.

"Keyi has a fever. This morning, I went to his room when he didn’t come downstairs and found him burning up. He must’ve caught a chill after returning to the capital. The private doctor has already seen him. He’s on an IV drip now."

"I’ll be right there."

Qin Zhiyan’s heart clenched anxiously. He hung up and hurried out.

Tang Residence.

When Qin Zhiyan arrived at Tang Keyi’s room, Tang Keyi was still unconscious.

His face was flushed with fever, his brows furrowed—clearly, he was very ill.

Grandma Tang, standing nearby, also looked weary. "Zhiyan, you can watch over him. Call the doctor when the IV is finished."

Qin Zhiyan nodded. "Don’t worry, Grandma Tang. You should rest."

Grandma Tang agreed and left.

Qin Zhiyan glanced at the IV bag—still about a third left—and sat down in the chair by the bed, taking Tang Keyi’s hand.

The heat radiating from Tang Keyi’s skin made Qin Zhiyan frown. "How did it get this bad?"

He stood and pressed a hand to Tang Keyi’s forehead, peeling off the old cooling patch and replacing it with a fresh one.

While keeping an eye on Tang Keyi, Qin Zhiyan used his phone to handle work matters.

By the time the IV bag was replaced, Tang Keyi still hadn’t woken.

Qin Zhiyan asked the doctor, "Why isn’t he awake yet?"

"The fever hasn’t broken, but it’s not serious. He’ll probably wake up after this bag is done." The doctor hesitated. "By the way, President Qin, Grandma Tang asked if you’ve had lunch. Would you like to eat downstairs?"

"No need. I’m not hungry yet."

Seeing Qin Zhiyan’s insistence, the doctor didn’t press further and quietly left the room.

Another half-hour passed. Before the IV finished, Tang Keyi finally stirred.

[My head hurts...]

Qin Zhiyan immediately leaned closer just as Tang Keyi’s eyes fluttered open, his gaze hazy.

"Yanyan?"

"You’re finally awake." Qin Zhiyan exhaled in relief.

Tang Keyi tried to sit up, but Qin Zhiyan stopped him. "Don’t move yet. You’re still on an IV."

Tang Keyi glanced at the drip bag. "I think I have a fever. Did I oversleep and miss work?"

Qin Zhiyan checked Tang Keyi’s forehead—the temperature had indeed dropped.

"You didn’t just miss work. You skipped it entirely."

"Oh well. Dock my pay, then." Tang Keyi was utterly unbothered.

"I won’t dock your pay. It’s sick leave."

"Thanks, boss. But why aren’t you at work? Did you skip too?"

"I’m on accompanying-sick-leave."

"Is that even a thing?"

"I’m the boss. If I say it is, it is." Qin Zhiyan kept his tone light as he used a damp towel to wipe the sweat from Tang Keyi’s neck. "You’ve been sweating a lot. The fever should break soon."

"I’m fine. I’m usually really healthy—I hardly ever get sick."

"Then how did you get so sick this time?"

"Even the best horse stumbles (idiom: everyone makes mistakes)," Tang Keyi argued.

Qin Zhiyan asked gently, "Are you still feeling unwell? Does your head hurt? Are you hungry? Do you need more sleep?"

"I’m okay, just a little hungry."

Qin Zhiyan nodded. "Wait here. I’ll get you something to eat."

"Okay."

Qin Zhiyan went downstairs to tell Grandma Tang that Tang Keyi was awake and wanted food.

Grandma Tang pointed to the kitchen, where congee was already being kept warm. She then hurried upstairs.

When Qin Zhiyan returned with the congee, he overheard Grandma Tang speaking.

"When I told Zhiyan you were sick, he rushed over immediately and hasn’t even eaten lunch yet. It’s clear he truly cares about you."

"Mhm..." Tang Keyi responded vaguely.

[Of course he does. Qin Zhiyan likes me way too much.]

Qin Zhiyan deliberately made some noise as he entered, and Grandma Tang immediately turned to him with a smile. "Zhiyan, you take care of Keyi. I’m a bit tired and want to rest."

With that, she tactfully left the two alone.

Qin Zhiyan set the tray on the nightstand and noticed the IV had been removed. "Can you eat by yourself?"

[I could, but I don’t want to!]

Tang Keyi answered shamelessly, "No."

Qin Zhiyan pretended not to fall for it. "But your IV is out now."

"But my head hurts, my arm hurts, and I have no strength."

Tang Keyi put on a pitiful act, his voice weak.

"I’m so miserable..."

[I might be weak, but I definitely have enough strength to eat.]

In the end, Qin Zhiyan gave in to the sickly Tang Keyi.

Picking up the bowl, he sat by the bed. "Then I’ll feed you."

"Yanyan is the best." Tang Keyi immediately brightened.
