SDS: Chapter 69

"My YanYan—I’ll Protect You" Cong Qiao was taken aback and asked with a troubled expression,  "President Qin, where did you hear this term from?" Cong Qiao let his thoughts run wild— It couldn’t be that someone wanted to disrespect President Qin, could it?  This matter needed to be clarified! From Cong Qiao’s reaction, Qin Zhiyan sensed something.  Could it be that this term had a negative meaning?  But Tang Keyi couldn’t possibly have any ill intentions toward him. Qin Zhiyan replied vaguely,  "I just heard it by chance. Don’t worry about it." Cong Qiao realized he had overstepped but felt too awkward to explain directly. So he tactfully suggested,  "President Qin, maybe you should search it online yourself." ...

 "Are you here alone?"

The moment Su Yu stepped inside, a man leaning against the bar sidled up to him.

Dressed in a tight black shirt that strained over his chest muscles—clearly on display—he swirled a glass of amber liquid, the light refracting sharply into Su Yu’s eyes.

Su Yu squinted and turned away.

"Sorry, I’m meeting someone."

Undeterred, the man licked his lips, eyes lingering on the sharp upturn of Su Yu’s eyes.

"Big bro here’s a top—can last an hour. Sure you don’t wanna reconsider?"

Su Yu let out an impatient "Tch."

"Deaf? I said I’m looking for someone."

His gaze flicked downward dismissively.

"Padded much? Looks like you’re the one who should be sitting down. And FYI, we’d be competing for the same role."

The man’s face flushed from red to green as Su Yu brushed past him.

Su Yu didn’t have to search long.

In a semicircular booth, Shen Le and Lin Yanjun were already slumped over laughing.

"What’s so funny?" Su Yu plopped down, irritation simmering.

Shen Le—hair newly dyed fire-engine red—grinned.

"That muscle guy’s picky as hell. Turned down every bottom who hit on him tonight. But he zeroed in on you instantly. Man’s got taste."

Su Yu rolled his eyes.

"Want me to introduce you? No? Shame. ‘Cause you’re totally straight, right?"

"Dead straight!" Shen Le’s face matched his hair.

Lin Yanjun swirled his drink. "Funny how the deepest closets always yell ‘straight’ the loudest."

"Lin Yanjun—!" Shen Le lunged, but Lin dodged with practiced ease.

"You’re too small. Not my type."

As the two devolved into wrestling, Su Yu grabbed a beer bottle, twisted off the cap, and downed half in one go.

The burn in his gut dulled the frustration, just a little.

Shen Le paused mid-chokehold. "Yo, Su-ge. What’s up? You’ve been off all night."

Lin Yanjun wriggled free. "Ever since you started working for Ji Yanli, you’ve ghosted us."

Su Yu slammed the bottle down. "Su Yan cornered me. Wants a ‘favor.’"

Everyone knew Su Yu’s strained family ties. Shen Le frowned.

"Him? Since when does he need your help? Daddy’s money not enough?"

Su Yu hesitated, then spilled everything—omitting only his refusal to play along.

"WHAT?!" Shen Le’s shout turned heads.

Su Yu winced. "Volume. Jesus."

"No way you’re doing this," Shen Le hissed.

"Your brother’s sketchy. Always gave me creep vibes."

Lin Yanjun sipped his drink. "Su Yan’s setting you up to take the fall."

Su Yu nodded silently and reached for another beer.

Sensing the mood, Shen Le brightened. "Let’s call more people! Booze brigade!"

Before Su Yu could protest, their booth overflowed with two giggling girls and two twinks in barely-there outfits.

One twink—apple-cheeked and eager—plopped beside Su Yu, spearing a honeydew cube on a fork.

"Try this, gege?"

Su Yu recoiled as the fruit grazed his lips. "No."

Undeterred, the boy popped it into his own mouth. "Got a boyfriend?"

"Not currently."

"Ah." The boy smirked. "So there’s someone else on your mind."

Su Yu ignored him, grabbing another bottle—only for the twink to hand him an open one first.

As he drank, movement at the bar caught his eye: Su Yan, now in a V-neck sweater, chatting with a hooded figure whose posture screamed familiar.

But Shen Le’s slap to his back shattered the focus.

"Su-ge! Stop zoning out! This cutie’s right here!"

When Su Yu looked back, Su Yan and the stranger had vanished.

"Can’t drink too much," Su Yu muttered. "Gotta report to Ji Yanli tomorrow."

Shen Le waggled his brows. "Who knew you were whipped?"

Lin Yanjun smirked. "More like leashed."

Su Yu’s fist clenched—

Then the twink patted his knuckles. "Don’t be mad, gege~ Have another—"

[ALERT ALERT]
[Su Yu baby, does your back feel… cold?]
[Or is it your ass that’s tingling?]
[I won’t say who’s watching. But someone’s definitely imagining tying you up rn.]
[WHERE’S THE LOCKED-UP TROPE? KEY’S IN MY BELLY!]

Su Yu’s neck prickled. He turned—

And met eyes in the shadows.

Dark. Predatory. Furious.

"Oh fuck,"

Su Yu breathed.

Ji Yanli was here.
