Ch 2 : The Ge'er's Escape

With a mere lift of his hand, a document appeared in his grasp.  “Is this what you mean, Village Chief?” He handed the document over. The Village Chief reached out, took it, opened it, and examined it carefully.  “Exactly this.” After reviewing it, he returned the document to the man and turned to address the villagers, clarifying the man's identity.  “Ling Cang, from the capital. His family has been in trade for generations.” The Clan Leader nodded upon hearing this.  “If that's the case, then the young man may reside temporarily in Yunxi Village.” “Thank you very much then,”  Divine Emperor Ling Cang said with a smile, cupping his hands in thanks. His smile was like a warm spring breeze, dazzling everyone present. “Might there be any uninhabited houses in the village? I would like to purchase one,”  Ling Cang asked with a smile. Before entering the mortal realm, he had observed this area; the scenery was excellent and it seemed a good place for living and...

Chapter 139 The Final Task

Nian Jinsui was jolted awake by a series of urgent knocks on the door.

Bleary-eyed, he saw the faint light of dawn filtering through the curtains.

Beside him, Qin Chengyu murmured softly:

"Suisui, it's nothing. I’ll go see."

Nian Jinsui nodded, keeping his eyes closed as he listened to Qin Chengyu’s deliberately light footsteps retreating.

Someone knocking at this hour must mean something urgent.

A little worried, he forced himself to stay alert, straining to catch the conversation outside.

It sounded like Butler Wu

Fragments of words reached him

"sent to the hospital," "what should we do"

followed by Qin Chengyu’s reply, too quiet to make out.

Fortunately, Qin Chengyu soon returned, slipping back into bed and pulling Nian Jinsui into his arms.

"Chengyu, what happened?"

Nian Jinsui asked, forcing his eyes open.

"Just Grandpa having a stroke. No big deal. Go back to sleep."

Qin Chengyu’s tone was casual, as if discussing the weather.

He nestled under the covers, wrapping himself around Nian Jinsui.

"Mm."

Nian Jinsui hummed in acknowledgment.

Something he already knew about—hardly worth fussing over.

Finding a comfortable position in Qin Chengyu’s embrace, he quickly drifted back to sleep.

"Chengyu, you’re going to visit your grandpa at the hospital this afternoon, right?"

Nian Jinsui asked during lunch.

Qin Chengyu glanced up from his meal.

"Mn. Do you want to come?"

"No need… I’m not close to him anyway."

Nian Jinsui hesitated.

"Actually, I was hoping you could stop by my house on your way back. There’s a Lego set in my room—the one we never finished. I’d like to bring it over so we can complete it sometime."

"I’ll have Uncle Liu send someone to fetch it."

"But I’m afraid they might break it. Could you go get it yourself?"

Qin Chengyu paused briefly before nodding.

"Alright."

He lowered his gaze back to his food, but his peripheral attention remained fixed on Nian Jinsui.

Qin Chengyu might be blind to Nian Jinsui’s feelings for him, but he noticed everything else with razor-sharp precision.

Seeing Qin Chengyu agree, Nian Jinsui couldn’t suppress a flicker of triumph.

He hastily lifted his bowl to shovel in more rice, hiding his expression—but that very act of overcompensation only deepened Qin Chengyu’s suspicion.

Still, Qin Chengyu didn’t call him out.

He continued eating as if nothing were amiss, though the light in his eyes dimmed slightly.

Suisui is trying to keep me away.

What is he planning?

Correct.

Nian Jinsui was trying to buy time.

Because a new mission had arrived!

Escape the Qin household!

In the original novel, after Qin Zhuo’s stroke, the Qin Corporation finally fell entirely into Qin Chengyu’s hands.

But to ensure Qin Zhuo witnessed the family’s downfall firsthand, Qin Chengyu had the hospital prolong his life while accelerating the business war with the Chu Group—recklessly burning through assets, spending nearly all his time at the company and rarely returning home.

It was during this period that the tormented Nian Jinsui seized his chance to flee.

Just as he thought he’d escaped Qin Chengyu’s control, collapsing on the ground to gulp in the free air—a pair of polished leather shoes appeared before him.

Terrified, he looked up to see the devil who had made his life hell standing over him.

Qin Chengyu smiled darkly.

"How does it feel to have hope kindled, only for someone to crush it?"

Dragged back into hell,

Nian Jinsui finally understood: there was no escape.

His mental defenses shattered, his health rapidly deteriorated, and within a month, he died in a lightless basement—end of story.

Recalling the plot, Nian Jinsui guessed this was likely the final mission

By the timeline, he’d be free of the system in less than a month!

The thought alone thrilled him.

This time, I’ll complete the mission flawlessly—a perfect finish!

He’d already scouted the estate.

Slipping out through the main gate was impossible, but there was a back entrance near Qin Zhuo’s private villa. With the old man hospitalized, the place was now deserted—just avoid the servants, and he’d be golden.

His plan was meticulous:

  1. Delay Qin Chengyu’s return to buy enough time.

  2. Follow the planned route to escape the Qin estate.

  3. The moment Xi Lü declared the mission complete, turn back immediately and return to his room before Qin Chengyu got home.

No one the wiser. Perfect!

But would reality really go as smoothly as he imagined?

On the hospital bed, Qin Zhuo lay motionless, his face stiff and expressionless—only the occasional flicker of his eyes proving he was still alive.

When Qin Chengyu entered, Qin Zhuo’s lips twitched, but all that emerged were incoherent grunts.

Qin Chengyu studied him indifferently, his gaze devoid of concern or malice—as if looking at a stranger.

"He seems lively enough. What’s his condition?"

he asked the doctor.

"President Qin, our examinations confirm Chairman Qin is paralyzed and unable to speak, but his cognitive functions remain intact."

"Then do your best to keep him alive. That’s my only requirement. The rest is up to you."

Translation: As long as he doesn’t die, I don’t care what you do.

The doctor nodded understandingly.

"Understood, President Qin."

At this, Qin Zhuo erupted into frantic, garbled protests.

With a glance from Qin Chengyu, the doctor swiftly exited.

"Grandpa, agitation is bad for your health. I want you to live a long life—long enough to watch me take the Qin Corporation to new heights."

Qin Chengyu loomed over him, his voice icy.

"Though it won’t be called ‘Qin Corporation’ anymore. I’ve decided on a better name—Cheng Sui Group."

Qin Zhuo’s eyes bulged, his face flushing crimson with rage, but all he could manage were strangled cries.

"‘Cheng’ (承) means to uphold, to bear, to carry responsibility. As for ‘Sui’ (遂)—" Qin Chengyu’s lips curled slightly. "It has only one meaning: Nian Jinsui. ‘Cheng Sui’—auspicious and melodic. I quite like it."

"Originally, I planned to destroy the Qin Corporation. But I changed my mind. Stealing it and erasing every trace of the Qin family will hurt you far more. In the future, I’ll make Suisui the largest shareholder, with me as the legal representative. Just thinking about earning money for him instead of the Qins puts me in such a good mood, I’m sure the company will thrive."

"As for you, my dear grandfather—spend the rest of your days here. It won’t be pleasant, but I’ll have the TV left on so you can watch Cheng Sui’s progress. Watch as the world forgets the Qin name."

"You’ll be forgotten too. No one will visit—just the medical staff. Now you’ll know what it feels like to be discarded… just like all those years of my life."
