SDS: Chapter 20

"You Heartless Little Thing"

Scattered Lego bricks by the wall, slippers kicked haphazardly to the side,

and a messy bed—this was unmistakably Tang Keyi's room.

Qin Zhiyan placed Tang Keyi on the bed,

and the moment he sank into his familiar bedding,

Tang Keyi instinctively grabbed a pillow and hugged it,

sleeping soundly and contentedly.

"Such an ungrateful little thing,"

Qin Zhiyan murmured under his breath,

flicking Tang Keyi’s earlobe as punishment.

After tucking Tang Keyi in,

Qin Zhiyan glanced around the room before walking toward another door.

Tang Keyi’s bedroom led to his walk-in closet and gaming room.

Unlike the messy bedroom, these spaces were immaculate—

clearly maintained by servants.

Luxury items and gaming collectibles filled the rooms, along with a dedicated AR setup,

proving that Tang Keyi lived up to his reputation as the Capital's Top Playboy.

Qin Zhiyan took a brief tour before exiting.

Grandma Tang didn’t seem bothered by the wait.

If anything, she looked regretful.

"Zhiyan, won’t you stay a little longer?"

"No, it’s late. I shouldn’t disturb your rest."

As Qin Zhiyan reached to turn off the light switch by the door,

Grandma Tang stopped him.

"Keyi doesn’t sleep with the lights off."

Qin Zhiyan withdrew his hand without question and took his leave.

The next day, Tang Keyi woke up with a dull headache—

clearly the aftermath of last night’s drinking.

Rubbing his temples, he dragged himself out of bed and into the shower.

Memories slowly returned,

and the thought of that scumbag Chen Zhudong reignited his anger.

But what struck him more was how Qin Zhiyan had stepped in

and personally dealt with Chen Zhudong

without even waiting for an explanation.

Tang Keyi couldn’t help but marvel at how well Qin Zhiyan treated his subordinates.

Maybe being his assistant isn’t so bad after all.

After drying his hair and finishing his morning routine,

Tang Keyi checked himself in the mirror and

noticed his left earlobe was slightly red and swollen.

He dismissed it, assuming a mosquito had bitten him outside.

His skin was prone to exaggerated reactions—

even a tiny bug bite would swell more than usual.

By the time he finished getting ready, it was already 11 a.m.

Luckily, it was the weekend, so no work.

He shuffled downstairs, only to find the living room packed with family.

The moment they heard him, all chatter ceased, and every pair of eyes locked onto him.

Tang Keyi’s toes curled in his slippers.

Right… family gathering today.

Grandma Tang was the first to speak.

"There you are, my dear. Does your head hurt? The kitchen kept some hangover soup warm for you—you must drink a bowl."

"Mm…"

Tang Keyi mumbled vaguely.

Tang Kexing looked guilty.

"Xiao Wu, how did you get so drunk? I should’ve taken you home last night."

"It’s fine, just had a couple extra drinks."

Tang Keyi plopped onto a couch, and a servant promptly brought over the soup.

Tang Keli, the second eldest brother, ruffled Tang Keyi’s hair.

"Xiao Wu, Grandma said President Qin brought you home last night?"

"Yeah."

We went to the banquet together—why wouldn’t he bring me back?

Tang Keyan, the third brother, casually dropped a bombshell.

"And Grandma said he carried you to your room."

"Cough—!"

Tang Keyi choked, staring at Grandma Tang in disbelief.

She nodded.

"He was so enthusiastic—how could I snatch you away from him?"

"Oho!"

The entire family’s teasing gazes zeroed in on him.

The hangover soup did nothing to ease the sudden dizziness and heat flooding Tang Keyi’s head.

He scrambled for an explanation.

"That’s—that’s because he felt guilty! He took me to the banquet, so he was responsible for me getting drunk!"

He didn’t mention Chen Zhudong—he could handle that himself without involving his family.

Tang Kexing sighed fondly.

"Back when Xiao Wu swore he’d marry Qin Zhiyan, I thought it was impossible. But now, it seems like it might actually happen."

"Uh—"

Tang Keyi’s words stuck in his throat.

Tang Keyin, the fourth brother, mercifully intervened.

"Alright, let’s stop teasing Xiao Wu. If we keep going, his face might explode from blushing."

The family finally let it go with a round of laughter.

After lunch, Grandma Tang called Tang Kexing into her room.

"Did anything happen to Keyi last night?"

she asked worriedly.

"A couple of idiots thought Xiao Wu was just an ordinary assistant and disrespected him verbally,"

Tang Kexing said.

"But nothing else. Why? What’s wrong?"

Grandma Tang sighed.

"I noticed small wounds on Keyi’s hands. And something about last night’s banquet is being hushed up—I can’t get any details."

Earlier, in the "Capital’s Elite Gossip Group,"

she’d seen vague mentions of a conflict between Qin Zhiyan and a jeweler from Haicheng named Chen Zhudong.

Investigating Chen Zhudong revealed he’d been hospitalized—severely injured.

More importantly, Grandma Tang learned he had a notorious preference for young, attractive men.

Surely he didn’t set his sights on Qin Zhiyan?

Her intuition told her this involved her precious grandson.

Tang Kexing’s expression darkened.

"Who dares lay a finger on our family’s treasure? Just say the name, Grandma."

"The silence around last night likely means Qin Zhiyan gave orders. My guess? It involves a man named Chen Zhudong. Do you know him?"

Tang Kexing nodded.

"He spoke to me last night—a jeweler new to the capital."

"Qin Zhiyan beat him so badly he ended up in the hospital."

"Qin Zhiyan personally attacked someone?"

Tang Kexing was stunned.

Qin Zhiyan was known for his composure—he never resorted to public violence.

His style was to retaliate after the fact.

Understanding dawned.

"You think Qin Zhiyan did it for Xiao Wu?"

Grandma Tang nodded.

"You know how to handle Chen Zhudong."

"Don’t worry, Grandma. I’ll make sure he pays."

A cold glint flashed in Tang Kexing’s eyes.

Before Grandma Tang could say more, a text notification interrupted her.

She checked her phone.

"No need. The message says Chen Zhudong has already been taken away."

"By Qin Zhiyan?"

Tang Kexing was almost disappointed he couldn’t deal with Chen Zhudong himself.

"Now our family owes him a favor."

Grandma Tang smiled.

"Let’s pretend we don’t know. Soon, there may be no need to stand on ceremony."

The next day, Tang Keyi invited Han Qiuqiu out for dinner.

"What’s the occasion?"

Han Qiuqiu teased.

"You’ve been so distant since starting your job."

"This is serious."

Tang Keyi tossed a tissue box at him and recounted the banquet incident.
