Lin Shuqian smiled faintly, a hint of indulgence in his tone.
"Jinsui, how do you know?"
Nian Jinsui thought to himself: because he had a god’s-eye view!
Even if Qin Chenglu’s project seemed impressive now,
it didn’t matter. Qin Chengyu would eventually step in.
Qin Chengyu was a mysterious powerhouse in the investment world. With just a flick of his finger, he could silently crush Qin Chenglu’s project.
In the original plot of the novel, this was exactly how Qin Chengyu destroyed Qin Zhuo’s last shred of hope for Qin Chenglu. Only then did Qin Zhuo remember that he had another grandson, Qin Chengyu. Even though he was a Beta and not someone Qin Zhuo favored, he reluctantly brought Qin Chengyu back into the Qin family, intending to groom him. Little did he know he had brought home a hidden trump card.
Of course, Nian Jinsui couldn’t say any of this. He pursed his lips and casually made up a reason: "Just look at Qin Chenglu. I don’t believe he can pull off anything impressive. I bet his project will flop."
Nian Yixin chuckled at this. "Jinsui, you’re oversimplifying things. Even though Qin Chenglu is mediocre, Qin Muyun has surrounded him with a team of talented people to back him up. As long as no one sabotages him, this project is solid."
Nian Jinsui didn’t say more but silently retorted in his heart:
You’re right—the saboteur is Qin Chengyu. Once he steps in, no amount of talent can save the project.
After lunch, Nian Jinsui searched for tickets on a ticketing platform. Unfortunately, since the concert was imminent, all the good seats were sold out. Only a few seats in the back corners were available.
Nian Jinsui turned to Qin Chengyu. "We’re just listening to music anyway. It should sound the same no matter where we sit. I’ll go ahead and buy these, okay?"
Although it was a bit regrettable that he couldn’t sit with Nian Jinsui, Qin Chengyu had already noticed Chu Hejun’s interest in Nian Jinsui. Naturally, he wasn’t going to let Nian Jinsui go to the concert alone.
So, Qin Chengyu nodded and agreed to Nian Jinsui’s arrangement. "Okay."
That evening, the two arrived at the venue on time. Nian Jinsui went straight to the farthest corner seat in the last row and patted the seat next to him. "Sit here."
Qin Chengyu was puzzled. "Jinsui, isn’t your seat up front?"
"It is," Nian Jinsui replied. "But when I bought your ticket earlier, I also got an extra one for myself. Since it’s all the same for listening to music, of course, I’d rather sit with you."
Nian Jinsui spoke matter-of-factly. He genuinely thought so—concerts were more enjoyable when shared with friends.
But when Qin Chengyu heard this, he couldn’t help but feel moved.
To Nian Jinsui, it was just an insignificant, ordinary remark and gesture. Yet to Qin Chengyu, it was a priceless treasure, like candy he carefully collected, savoring each piece.
The concert soon began. This final performance in the capital was the grand finale of Chu Hejun’s tour. He had prepared meticulously, and the audience was highly appreciative, giving enthusiastic applause after every piece.
Compared to the duet he played during the school anniversary, this concert fully showcased Chu Hejun’s musical talent. Nian Jinsui had to admit that Chu Hejun’s skills were extraordinary. He was indeed worthy of his title as a prodigy pianist who had won numerous awards.
In the final segment, Chu Hejun stood center stage and gave a closing speech.
After expressing his gratitude, he took a deep breath and said:
"I’d also like to take this opportunity to confess my feelings to someone."
The audience erupted into cheers. Even Nian Jinsui’s eyes lit up. "Is Chu Hejun about to confess?"
Beside him, Qin Chengyu’s gaze suddenly turned cold, his sharp and piercing eyes fixed on the stage.
Under the bright lights on stage, Chu Hejun couldn’t see the seats clearly but continued with a smile:
"I used to think music was my sole source of happiness. But now, I’ve realized that seeing his smile can also make me happy. Music creates my starry sky, and he has become my moon."
Nian Jinsui rubbed his chin and commented, "I never thought Chu Hejun, who usually seems so annoying, could be so touching in his confession."
Hearing this, Qin Chengyu’s expression visibly darkened, and his hands clenched unconsciously.
Why did Jinsui sound happy about this?
Could it be that he…
As soon as the thought crossed his mind, Qin Chengyu felt the blood in his veins freeze, and his heart gradually grew cold.
Unfortunately, Nian Jinsui’s attention was entirely on the stage, oblivious to Qin Chengyu’s reaction.
"So, I want to say, I like you, Nian…"
The stage lights shifted dramatically, illuminating a seat in the front and center of the venue.
When Chu Hejun saw the empty seat, his expression fell, and the name he was about to say stopped abruptly.
"It’s a pity he isn’t here tonight. Perhaps I don’t hold a place in his heart yet. But that’s okay. One day, I’ll let him know how I feel. Thank you all again for coming tonight. Until next time."
Nian Jinsui and Qin Chengyu, sitting in the farthest corner, couldn’t see where the light had landed.
But Qin Chengyu knew all too well. He silently rejoiced that he had come tonight and was even more grateful that Nian Jinsui had chosen to sit with him.
After the concert, as they were leaving, Nian Jinsui remarked, "It’s a shame Liang’an wasn’t here tonight to hear such a touching confession from Chu Hejun."
Qin Chengyu: ???
Startled, Qin Chengyu felt his entire body come alive in an instant.
"Who are you talking about?" he asked hesitantly.
"Ning Liang’an, of course," Nian Jinsui replied. "I never expected Chu Hejun to like Ning Liang’an so much. Too bad Liang’an already has someone else in his heart."
Qin Chengyu gave Nian Jinsui a strange look. "Jinsui, why do you think Chu Hejun likes Ning Liang’an?"
Caught off guard, Nian Jinsui stumbled over his words. Because the novel said so, of course! Because he had a god’s-eye view! But he couldn’t say that. Instead, he mumbled, "Because… because it’s obvious… anyone can see it!"
He immediately threw the question back. "Don’t tell me you didn’t notice?"
Qin Chengyu shook his head, confused by Nian Jinsui’s certainty. "I really didn’t."
"Then you’re just not observant enough. Let me break it down for you." Nian Jinsui chuckled confidently. "Just now, Chu Hejun said the person he wanted to confess to wasn’t here tonight and doesn’t have a place for him in their heart. Who else could that be but Ning Liang’an?"
