Chapter 75 Soaking in the Hot Spring and Watching Fireworks Together

Just then, the sound of fireworks outside caught Nian Jinsui’s attention. He looked up, but unfortunately, he could only see a small section of the illuminated sky and a few sparks.

This world is better—they still allow fireworks, he thought.

“What a shame, we can’t see the fireworks properly,” Nian Jinsui murmured.

Qin Chengyu glanced upward as well, confirming there was little to see.

Nian Jinsui withdrew his gaze, marveling at the irony of his situation. He had died in his original world, yet here he was, celebrating a new year in another.

Life truly is unpredictable, like a dream.

“Chengyu, do you think there might come a day when you’re ruling the capital, untouchable and admired, while I’m left with nothing?” Nian Jinsui asked abruptly.

Caught off guard, Qin Chengyu’s gaze lingered on Nian Jinsui before he replied firmly, “No. That day will never come.”

Nian Jinsui chuckled. “How can you be so sure? Life is unpredictable—what’s yours today might be mine tomorrow.”

Qin Chengyu met Nian Jinsui’s eyes with unwavering determination. “If I ever do become powerful in the capital, you won’t be left with nothing. Whatever I have, you’ll have too.”

“You said it yourself—if you get rich and powerful, don’t forget me.”

Nian Jinsui grinned, feeling reassured. It wasn’t in vain that he had treated Qin Chengyu so well over the past few months. True brothers were dependable.

“Mm,” Qin Chengyu nodded. He didn’t understand why Nian Jinsui was thinking such unrealistic things, but he meant every word he had just said.

On New Year’s Eve, the group had no grand outings planned. Lin Shuqian and Nian Yixin spent the day exploring the resort, inspecting its facilities, and chatting with staff. Of course, they used the opportunity as a date.

Meanwhile, after a workout session in the gym, Nian Jinsui and Qin Chengyu decided to stay in their suite. Nian Jinsui played games while Qin Chengyu quietly read a book he had brought from the Nian household.

The four reunited at dinner for a celebratory reunion meal in a private dining room.

After the meal, as everyone was relaxing, Nian Jinsui snuck to the corner and pulled out a violin he had previously asked the staff to prepare. He began to play, the sweet strains of the music catching everyone’s attention.

Nian Yixin and Lin Shuqian turned to him in surprise, their eyes lighting up. Nian Jinsui playfully winked, signaling for them to enjoy the performance.

In his previous life, his two fathers had once asked him to play a violin piece for them during a New Year’s celebration. At the time, he had been too shy and insisted on waiting for a formal stage performance. That chance never came before they passed away.

Regrets come too late when the opportunity is gone.

Today, he played Salut d’Amour for Nian Yixin and Lin Shuqian—and for the two fathers he hoped were watching from heaven.

When the piece ended, Nian Jinsui’s eyes were misty. Hearing the applause from Nian Yixin and Lin Shuqian, he felt a sense of relief.

Perhaps my fathers have also found another world where they’re cared for by another version of me.

“Jinsui, I didn’t know you played the violin so well. I haven’t been paying enough attention to you,” Nian Yixin said, his voice tinged with guilt.

“Dad, I kept it a secret to surprise you and Father,” Nian Jinsui said modestly. “Besides, I’m not that good.”

“To us, you’re always wonderful,” Lin Shuqian said, his eyes full of warmth and pride.

Untrained in music, the two fathers couldn’t discern Nian Jinsui’s level, but to them, it was flawless.

“Shall we watch the New Year’s Gala now? Let’s head to our suite,” Nian Yixin suggested.

“Dad, let’s watch in my and Chengyu’s suite. The living room there is larger,” Nian Jinsui offered.

“Alright,” Nian Yixin agreed without a second thought.

The four moved to Nian Jinsui and Qin Chengyu’s suite. Nian Yixin and Lin Shuqian watched the gala attentively, while Nian Jinsui scrolled through social media, laughing at trending posts mocking the show. Qin Chengyu alternated between reading and watching TV, all the while sneaking glances at Nian Jinsui.

Around 10:30 PM, Nian Yixin and Lin Shuqian prepared to leave.

“Jinsui, we won’t stay up late. You and Chengyu shouldn’t either,” Lin Shuqian reminded.

“Got it. Have a good… heh… good night!” Nian Jinsui teased with a knowing smirk but quickly corrected himself. “Sweet dreams! Good night!”

“Good night,” Lin Shuqian and Nian Yixin replied before heading to their suite.

Once inside, Nian Yixin noticed the setup and gasped. “Shuqian, is this your surprise for me?”

The room was decorated with rose petals spread across the floor and arranged into a heart on the bed. Scented candles filled the air with a soothing fragrance, creating a romantic ambiance.

Lin Shuqian chuckled. “I think this was Jinsui’s surprise for us.”

Nian Yixin laughed fondly. “That little rascal—I knew he was acting odd earlier.”

From behind, Lin Shuqian embraced Nian Yixin and whispered in his ear, “Then let’s not waste his efforts.”

Nian Yixin’s breath quickened. “Shuqian…”

“Call me ‘husband.’”

Back in their suite, Nian Jinsui finally let his mischievous grin show. Turning to Qin Chengyu, he said, “Guess what I did?”

Judging by Nian Jinsui’s expression, Qin Chengyu already had an idea. “Did you arrange something in their room?”

“Just a small surprise,” Nian Jinsui admitted, feigning modesty.

Unexpectedly, Qin Chengyu asked, “What kind of surprise?”

“Oh, just some scented candles, rose petals shaped into a heart, that kind of thing. They’ll love it.”

Qin Chengyu didn’t comment further, simply nodding thoughtfully as he made a mental note of the details.

The two watched a bit more of the gala before deciding it wasn’t entertaining. They opted to soak in the hot spring before bed.

As Nian Jinsui sat in the steaming water, he pinched at the soft flesh on his stomach, sighing. “I’ve been working out for half a month, and there’s no progress. It’s all because I’ve been eating too much.”

With Nian Yixin and Lin Shuqian around, the meals had become more lavish, and Nian Jinsui had indulged himself, gaining two pounds instead of losing any weight.

“You’re fine as you are. Working out is for health, not just for appearances,” Qin Chengyu said.

Nian Jinsui’s pale skin glistened in the water, smooth and soft like freshly cooked tofu. It reminded Qin Chengyu of something he liked to eat.

“I still want abs,” Nian Jinsui lamented.

“Jinsui,” Qin Chengyu called softly.

“Hmm?”

“Happy New Year.”

Before Nian Jinsui could respond, a series of loud bangs filled the air. Looking up, he saw a dazzling array of colorful fireworks bursting in the night sky above. The vibrant display lit up the entire sky, mesmerizing him.

“Wow! These fireworks really know how to time it right,” Nian Jinsui exclaimed, his face lighting up with joy. “They’re beautiful!”
