Chapter 21: Are You in Heat?

“Young Master Nian, are you in heat?”

Qin Chengyu, being a Beta, couldn’t detect pheromones, so he couldn’t confirm if Nian Jinsui was experiencing a heat cycle.

“I’m just… just a little anemic, so I’m feeling lightheaded,”

Nian Jinsui quickly made up an excuse.

Qin Chengyu crouched down, lifted one of Nian Jinsui’s arms over his shoulder,

wrapped his hand around Nian Jinsui’s waist, and helped him up, placing him back in his wheelchair.

Nian Jinsui leaned back into the wheelchair but felt his body sliding downward.

“Qin Chengyu, help me sit properly; I really don’t have the strength…”

Nian Jinsui’s body was limp, and even his voice was weak.

However, his temperature was normal, and his consciousness was clear, so it didn’t seem to be a heat related issue. It might truly just be anemia.

Qin Chengyu adjusted the wheelchair by lowering the backrest slightly,

then repositioned Nian Jinsui’s body and placed his feet securely on the footrests, ensuring he wouldn’t fall out of the wheelchair again.

“Be gentle. My leg is still fractured,”

Nian Jinsui reminded him.

Thankfully, when he fell earlier, he had landed on his left side, avoiding further injury.

“I was already being gentle,”

Qin Chengyu replied, straightening up and pushing the wheelchair toward the bedroom.

“Then why does my leg feel a little sore?”

Qin Chengyu was at a loss.

“Your leg is fractured. Isn’t it normal for it to hurt?”

Nian Jinsui was stumped.

“Now that you mention it, that does make sense.”

Qin Chengyu pushed the wheelchair to the bedside and carefully helped the limp Nian Jinsui onto the bed.

“Young Master Nian, do you need medication? Maybe I should call Butler Liu.”

“No need, no need. I just need to rest for a bit,”

Nian Jinsui said, propping himself up with difficulty.

He glanced down and noticed a large bruise on his knee.

“See, I told you my leg hurt!”

“Can Young Master Nian not even tell left from right? The bruise is on your left leg, but your fracture is on your right leg,”

Qin Chengyu said, his gaze landing on the bruise on Nian Jinsui’s knee.

Nian Jinsui was wearing short to sleep, leaving his pale calves and knees exposed.

The dark bruise on his knee stood out starkly.

“Fine, fine, I can’t tell left from right…”

Nian Jinsui muttered as he struggled to lie down properly on the bed.

“Don’t worry about me. Go to bed.”

Qin Chengyu glanced at the weakened Nian Jinsui before turning indifferently to leave.

He didn’t care whether Nian Jinsui lived or died.

“Wait.”

Qin Chengyu paused.

“Do you want me to call Butler Liu after all?”

“No, just… turn off the lights. Thanks.”

Qin Chengyu: …

The room went dark as Qin Chengyu turned off the lights and left.

The sound of his retreating footsteps gradually faded, and Nian Jinsui’s mind began to settle.

Even though he hadn’t been in this world for long, it felt like an eternity.

Maybe it was because every day was filled with chaos and constant anxiety.

He couldn’t help but wonder what new challenges tomorrow would bring.

When Nian Jinsui woke up, he felt fully energized. It seemed the “weak and delicate” punishment had passed.

Before he could celebrate, a new task arrived.

[Task Notification: The host must have Qin Chengyu move into the storage room on the third floor by the end of the day.]

In the novel, Nian Jinsui had forced Qin Chengyu to move into the small storage room next to the stairs on the third floor. This was both to humiliate him and make it easier to order him around.

Nian Jinsui wheeled himself to the storage room, his heart heavy with mixed emotions.

The storage room was incredibly cramped, filled with all sorts of junk.

It could barely fit a single bed, had no windows, and no air conditioning.

How could anyone live in such a place?

Nian Jinsui wheeled around the third floor, racking his brain for a solution.

“Storage room, storage room…”

he muttered, before an idea suddenly struck him.

He slapped his thigh in excitement—only to accidentally aggravate his fractured leg, causing him to wince in pain.

But at least he had a plan now.

The third floor was his domain, and he had the final say.

In other words, wherever he declared to be the storage room would be the storage room.

It was a bit sneaky, but Xi Lü hadn’t forbidden it, so it should be fine.

Without delay, Nian Jinsui freshened up and went to find Butler Liu on the first floor.

“Uncle Liu, there are still several empty rooms on the third floor, right? Pick a large one with an ensuite bathroom and set it up as a guest room. Make sure it has a bed, wardrobe, desk, and other essentials. Decorate it nicely, too.”

Nian Jinsui had originally wanted to set up a music room for himself, but since the novel’s Nian Jinsui didn’t play the violin, he had to abandon the idea for now.

Butler Liu looked confused but listened patiently as Nian Jinsui rattled off instructions.

“Young Master, didn’t you say before that the third floor shouldn’t have guest rooms? You’ve always disliked having outsiders living up there.”

“I’ve decided to have Qin Chengyu move up there. The room must be ready today. Any problem with that?”

“Of course not, Young Master. Consider it done.”

“By the way, I noticed some of the equipment in the gym is outdated. Have it replaced. Check the treadmills and see if they’re still in working condition.”

The Nian family’s gym was on the first floor. It had been used mostly by Nian Yixin’s partner, Lin Shuqian, but since Lin Shuqian had been abroad for the past two years, the gym had fallen into disuse.

“Are you planning to work out, Young Master? Should I find you a trainer?”

“Exercising is good for health, but I don’t need a trainer,”

Nian Jinsui replied. In his original world, he had been a robust man with an eight-pack;

he hardly needed someone to teach him how to train.

He added,

“Oh, and get some room labels—‘cleaning closet,’ ‘bedroom,’ ‘game room,’ and so on. Most importantly, make sure there’s one that says ‘storage room.’”

Although puzzled, Butler Liu nodded.

“Understood, Young Master. I’ll take care of it.”

Satisfied, Nian Jinsui asked,

“Where’s my dad? And Qin Chengyu?”

“The master went to the office. Young Master Qin returned to his room after breakfast. You should eat breakfast too, Young Master.”

“Alright, go ahead with your tasks,”

Nian Jinsui said, finally feeling relieved as he headed to eat breakfast.

-----------

After breakfast, Nian Jinsui wheeled himself to Qin Chengyu’s room and knocked on the door.

Qin Chengyu was always shutting himself in his room.

So withdrawn…

No wonder he chose such an extreme path in the future,

Nian Jinsui thought, shaking his head.

Qin Chengyu,

since you and I are both victims of the plot,

I’ll try to give you more warmth whenever I can—at least when there’s no task requiring otherwise.

Hopefully, you’ll remember my kindness and spare my life someday…
