Huai Xu was startled and looked up at him. "What's wrong?"
Jing Zheng xuan placed his large hand on the back of Huai Xu's head,
then slid it down to his slender nape, gently squeezing it.
"Nothing, I'm heading back first."
Huai Xu was puzzled. "Why are you leaving so suddenly?"
Jing Zhengxuan poked his dimple. "It's nothing. You keep studying."
His odd behavior paired with these words only made Huai Xu more worried.
Normally, Jing Zheng xuan wouldn’t leave until Huai Xu had gone to bed.
Get him to leave early? Impossible.
Huai Xu stood up and looked at him with concern. "Are you sure nothing's wrong?"
"Really, nothing's wrong." Jing Zhengxuan ruffled his hair lightly. "Don't worry."
Huai Xu stared at him without speaking, then pulled up his arm to check.
The previous wound had already healed completely, leaving only a faint pink scar.
It just needed more time for the skin to regenerate fully—no more medicine necessary.
Truthfully, Jing Zhengxuan’s body was rather remarkable.
While his skin seemed fragile, his recovery rate was astonishing.
Injuries that would take others days to heal often only needed three or four days for him.
Sometimes, Huai Xu couldn’t help but wonder if Jing Zhengxuan's body was awakening some kind of superpower, like accelerated healing.
He envied this while also feeling worried. Precisely because he healed so fast, Jing Zhengxuan never took injuries seriously and often got hurt.
Huai Xu sighed. "No need for more medicine."
"Got it," Jing Zhengxuan said, brushing his fingers across Huai Xu's cheek. "Why the sigh?"
"I'm afraid you'll hurt yourself again in a few days," Huai Xu said in a soft, exasperated tone.
Jing Zhengxuan replied, "…I won't."
Huai Xu let go of his arm gently. "Yeah, right. As if I don’t know you."
"…" Jing Zhengxuan silently scratched the tip of his nose.
Huai Xu looked at him, both frustrated and amused. "Take care of yourself and stop getting hurt all the time."
"Alright." Jing Zhengxuan nodded earnestly. "I'll be going then."
Still uneasy, Huai Xu asked again, "Really nothing's wrong?"
"…" Jing Zhengxuan paused, his eyes darting to the classroom notes before saying, "Really, nothing's wrong."
Huai Xu scrutinized him for a moment. "Alright then, you can go. It'll give you a chance to rest early."
"Yeah, you too," Jing Zhengxuan said, nodding as he bid farewell to Huai Xu's roommates and left.
As soon as he was gone, the low-pressure atmosphere in the dorm vanished. Everyone let out a breath of relief and even started playing games more enthusiastically.
Huai Xu studied until 9 PM, then went to shower. Afterward, he climbed into bed, planning to play a few rounds of Three Kingdoms Kill to help him fall asleep. Suddenly, Wu Ke exclaimed excitedly, "Whoa! Huai Xu, check out Jin University’s official video account—your childhood buddy is trending!"
Nearby, Zhang Yilang chuckled. "Isn’t Jing Zhengxuan always the talk of the school? What’s so surprising about that?"
Wu Ke remained thrilled. "This is a whole new level! Our school’s account usually gets just a few thousand likes, but a video of Jing Zhengxuan racked up tens of thousands!"
"No way! Really?" Hearing this, not only Zhang Yilang but also Chen Pan pulled out their phones to check.
Curious, Huai Xu left the Three Kingdoms Kill screen and opened the short video app. Before he could search for Jin University’s official account, the algorithm had already recommended the video to him.
In the clip, Jing Zhengxuan dominated the basketball court, making dunk after dunk.
The video was simple—no fancy effects or atmospheric filters—just pure footage of Jing Zhengxuan dribbling and shooting.
But sometimes, simplicity has an unexpected impact.
The unembellished video made Jing Zhengxuan’s sharp, handsome features and strong, athletic build stand out even more. His every move exuded charisma, captivating anyone who watched.
The video not only amassed tens of thousands of likes but also a flood of comments, many of which were outrageously bold:
These and other wild comments had Huai Xu laughing uncontrollably, calling the commenters geniuses.
His roommates watched him rolling on the bed in laughter and started laughing along without even knowing why.
Still giggling, Huai Xu shared the video with its star.
Moments later, Jing Zhengxuan responded with six ellipses. This only made Huai Xu laugh harder.
He had always known how charming Jing Zhengxuan was. Growing up, he had even delivered love letters to Jing Zhengxuan a few times on behalf of others. For some reason, though, after a while, no one gave him any more love letters. It was as if people had stopped confessing, though Huai Xu was certain Jing Zhengxuan still had plenty of admirers.
As he thought about it, a new message from Jing Zhengxuan appeared:
Jing Zhengxuan: Stop looking at those.
[Sun emoji]: Hmm, I know. I only watched it because it’s you.
After sending the message, Huai Xu noticed that Jing Zheng xuan seemed to be typing for a long time but hadn’t sent anything.
Assuming he’d fallen asleep, he switched back to Three Kingdoms Kill.
A few rounds later, he checked his phone and saw two unread messages.
Jing Zhengxuan: Don’t read the comments.
Jing Zhengxuan: Rest early. Good night.
Smiling, Huai Xu didn’t tell him he’d already read them all and laughed hysterically.
Instead, he replied with a simple "Good night," set down his phone, and put on his sleep mask.
